Astro A20x. It has a fantastic microphone, it’s fully compatible with Xbox, it has a light clamping-force so it’s good for glasses-users, and it’s wireless with both 2.4ghz and Bluetooth but unfortunately not simultaneously. Retails under $200. https://www.logitechg.com/en-us/shop/p/astro-a20-x
Mainly the A50 with its charging dock station having issues, the A20x is relatively new and I haven’t heard about any issues with it.
Came here to say this. Note: the Logitech G522 is the same headset, minus the added adapter for console(s). But it comes in a different color way. You can't go wrong with picking up either, but for the "lore" this is the first entirely Logitech headset that's been rebranded as an Astro product. The rest of the Astro line since it was acquired by Logitech years ago has still followed its own unique design language and hardware look & feel. But the A20 X will set you back a few extra bucks because of the aforementioned console adapter. If you primarily play on PC, just grab the G522. Imo, you can't go wrong with this headset. It's been my daily driver for ~6 months now. Great wireless range, both with Lightspeed & Bluetooth. I use it for gaming & work calls and its mic sounds just as good as my Elgato Wave 3, and it's removable for when I do prefer to use it instead. Its battery life is stellar. I often even forget to charge it, and it hasn't died on me once. And I generally play for 3-4 hours a day at least. The G Hub app is very customizable, and there's even some nice community presets you can apply for added bass or "footstep" audio profiles for more competitive shooters. But ultimately, the headset is extremely light. I almost forget it's even on my head. The earcups are very soft, and I opt to keep the RGB off to conserve battery. I love using this headset with my Steam Deck via Bluetooth, and honestly struggle to find things I dislike about the Logitech G522/Astro A20 X overall.
I’ve been using Astro A20s for a while now and they’re easily the best pair I’ve ever owned.
Astro, or at least they were when I bought my pair of A20’s. I was in the same position as you in 2019 and then I bought a pair of Astro A20’s and they’re built like a tank and practically fool proof. The headset bends a lot meaning it’s pretty impossible to break them and the foam pads for the ears are still solid to this day and have no sign of breaking off. There is no part of the headset that has physically shown any sign of degradation. If you’re looking for BIFL durability wise then Astro is the way to go—at least the A20 and A10’s are since I have no experience with their more expensive models. With the said, the audio and mic quality is middling. The mic I straight up wouldn’t use if I were you. For years I wondered why my friends pretended like I wasn’t talking—turns out I was just so quiet that they couldn’t hear me (That’s more of a console problem since you can’t really alter your mic level). The default audio is okay, not great not terrible. I have my own preset that I stole from some random guide long ago so I’m really satisfied with the audio quality at the moment. Also, having owned it for almost a decade, the battery is obviously degrading to the point I’m considering buying new headphones but I haven’t started to notice until recently and 7 years after the original purchase. Obviously, it seems times have changed and Logitech seems to be more involved with Astro now so I can’t speak of modern Astro headphones, but the ones I got were definitely a BIFL durability style purchase and I would 100% recommend it for reliability.
I can only speak to my experiences. I’ve tried the pulse 3d, which I liked until they broke, then Astro A20s, which were the most comfortable, but the sound wasn’t much better than the pulse 3d. And these arctis 7s sound unreal compared to the two. I’m no audio expert - just my personal experience.
I’ve had the Xbox brand one, Astro A20s, and Steelseries arctis 7s the Steelseries are my favorite by a mile they have great battery life I feel the others don’t.
I walked into a local retailer today ready to buy the A50X from watching all these rave reviews and doing a tonne of research, i was fixated that this is the one. To my surprise this store had a lot of headsets set up to sample and test how they sound playing samples. Wow i thought, i get to try before i buy blindly by watching reviews on the web. The A50 had much higher clamp force than i anticipated, after a few mins i had a bit of pain. It was uncomfortable. I thought these wouldve had semi open back traits but it's definitely closed back. The sound was dark and while imaging was ok, it was a small soundstage. It sounded intimate and claustrophobic. I thought spending $750 AUD i was going to get some sublime experience, wide expansive soundstage, high fidelity with these supposed "graphene" drivers but quite frankly they sounded mediocre. I was kind of perplexed as a few mins before i was adament i was buying this set. Kind of upset but glad i got to experience before committing. I took this opportunity to try out other headsets there and whilst the reviews on the A20X have been medioocre too, they were comfy AF. The earpads are maybe a bit too big and i share the same sentiment with gadgetrytech mentioning so many positions causing different sound signatures if placed differently on the head. However the sound was airy, breatheable and soundstage was wide and expansive. It sounded much much better which was weird because gadgetrytech said out of the box and i was expecting for them to sound like shit. I'd like to add that i was listeing to samples that you could swipe through that had some music, gaming scenes, movie scapes etc. My question is does anyone share the same sentiment with me about the A50X regarding comfort and sound? Also any owners of the G522 or the A20X here that can share their own experiences?
I am using the Logitech Astro A20 X headset. Its not heavy and doesn't feel like your wearing anything. Sound and microphones work both very wel.
