That really stinks that you can't return them. Def start with EQ to 'hold you over' until you find something that scratches the itch you have. Personally I went INSANE with buying headphones and my adhd has stopped me from selling them all but I have probably $20k spread out that I don't even listen to anymore. It was like going to canjam at home and instead of just trying one at a show, I got each shipped to me and wasted money to try them all. I did research and to the best of my ability from knowing I have an issue with sibilance and sensitive to high frequency went after cans that reviews didn't mention they were a little bright or the like, my current end game is the OG Empyrean. I got into this to enjoy my music, not to have a perfect headphone. So even though I know I have a collection that is losing value because I can't get myself to list them, I am satisfied that I found a headphone that I have not felt the need to keep looking for something better. I've had them over 5 years now. You'll find your favorite, but you need to be more careful than you were with listening to a couple and picking one without being able to listen to your own music for an extended period of time. Get from [headphones.com](http://headphones.com) so you can return them within a full year, or just scourer the used market AFTER you figure out what signature you like, use this as a learning opportunity about what you don't like and what you want. Good luck!

Oh, and it looks like you might not be distinguishing between the OG Meze Empyrean and the Empyrean II? Both great headphones but diffferent tunes.

Best listened to: Susvara Unveiled on a well setup DIY Aegis Best owned: Meze Empyrean OG, it does something special in terms of staging which resembles speaker setups. Could use more technical performance. Recently sold them to fund a set of ZMF Ori 3.0’s

nah the OGs, i liked them better plus they were half the price

The OGs are a lot more ‘fun’ the 2s are much more of an audiophile headphone so they do technically sound better and have better reviews. I’m not an audiophile and with the OGs being half the price (got mine for around 1.2k dollars or under a 1000 in GBP).

I def would, these things are sick if they’re in your budget they’re great. They feel do nice in hand. They’re def a bit bassy and warm so if they your vibe forsure I think you’ll enjoy them

About 9 headphones in, many of them high end. Not until I started listening to IEMs did I find my preferred sound, circa Thieaudio Monarch MK1 and Campfire Solaris. MDR-V6 (reference for years) HE-400i (mindblowing. first planar, first open back, lean bass, but decent when EQed) LCD-X (First time hearing dark, recessed mids. first time hearing planar bass.) LCD-3f (dark tuning. First time doing A/B comparison ) HD-800S (a must-hear for the diffuse soundstage. lean bass) Empyrean OG (muddy upper bass/low mids. First time being able to correlate freq response graph to what I was actually hearing) 99 classics (muddy upper bass, then swapped in Yaxi pads changed the sound dramatically) HEDDphone (realized the difference between sub-bass rumble and mid-bass thump. Treble performance is a standout. First time a headphone weighed too much for me) Verite Open (First time with holographic soundstage + OTL tube amp. Sadly, recessed mids for female vocalists, a huge component of my music library) Verite Closed (First time hearing a closed-back sound open. First time being fatigued by treble) Abyss AB-1266 TC - Finally understood that an overall balanced tuning and ease of use are more important than a two-trick pony kind of headphone. Bass cannon, and hyper detailed treble but my God what is that midrange. Realized that amps, DACs, cables cannot fully save this headphone's inherent flaws. Now I REALLY love my Meze 109 Pro and DCA Stealth. The tunings are perfect for me and different enough to coexist. Looking for a well balanced open back planar that does nice subbass AND bass impact. Have heard good things about modhouse tungsten DS.

My Meze Audio Empyrean won't fit in my jeans pocket unfortunately.

They are amazing, and best build quality of any headphones I've ever owned
