In that price range and build like a tank, the philips fidelio lineup... X2HR or the X3.
Fidelio x3 can be found for about 150€ new, which is I think less than half of original price they released with. For that price they're great. Very comfortable and good build quality with actual leather instead of the bullshit fake leather that starts flaking off after a year or two.
Fidelio x3 are cheap nowadays. They're very comfortable. I have x2hr but the x3 my gf has seem way more durable.
I'd grab a pair of open box Fidelio X3's on Ebay for <$100. I truly don't think there's a better deal in audio and they hold up vs. $200 cans. MSRP'd originally at $350 so they have that extra level of build quality that truly feel like a $250+ build quality, but they're discontinued and I think most reviewers agreed were launched under the wrong product line. Headband is metal covered in leather and they're pretty darn sturdy. My only knock on them is that their technically replaceable 3.5mm cord is mildly proprietary, but it's still replaceable regardless. I'm honestly liking them as much as I like my HD650s, albeit those are alive and well at 10 years and are a bit more comfortable. They are also open-back, but they don't have much bleed. The treble seems to bother some people at bit a first (I suspect they're listening to them beyond their optimal level), but it should EQ away very nicely. Further, they're only 35ohms so darn near anything can drive them without an amp. I'd still get the Apple USB-C dongle for $9 since it's so cheap.
I own the Fidelio X2HR and X3. I like them both
Agreed, x2hr is like wearing a cloud. The x3 was a major step back.
My Beyerdynamic have lasted ages. But what I really miss is my Philips Fidelio originals, best headphones I have ever used
I got a Philips Fidelio and they are great!
the philips shp and fidelio models are EXTREMELY comfortable. Basically zero clamping force. Sweet and soft cloth pads. Extremely durable IF taken care of. They will not survive in a backpack without a case though, regardless, they're not designed to be taken outside.
I use a V-moda mic boom with a Philips brand open back headphones (forgot the model name). Open back headphones will give you a more natural ooen sound as sound pases into your ears and out of the headphones and radiates all around you like real.sound does. Doesn't come at you in 1 direction but all around. A caveat is open backs aren't good to use for people sleeping around you, for edsmple, as they'll hear the game/music too if your volume is high enough but it'll sound amazing if you're only use to closed back headphones. People who produce, play, and mix music nearly always use open backs to get that detailed natural sound. Works great in games too 👍
