From my collection: HD620S, HD25, Amperior, ATH-M50X. I prefer open headphone to be transparent. Bluetooth ANC headphones are excluded from the list by design. Special mention to Focal Celestee (very good but a bit nasal/shouty in the 1kHz region, not sure they are worth their price because if that) and Focal Stellia (very very good but a bit too warm to be close To perfect, but enjoyable nevertheless). Outstanding Closed wired headphones are quite rare in my opinion, in contrary to open headphones.

The hd25 are goat status. Purpose built for this kind of stuff, it's a studio headphone or live venue. The sennheiser amperior is the same thing. They're easy to drive too, doesn't take much power. Very well balanced sound, maybe a bit bassy. They clamp HARD on your head. It's almost uncomfortable till you hear them and then everything else melts away. I want a pair, I've only ever auditioned them
For me it’s the Sennheiser HD25. They don’t sound „good“ but they sound very honest to me. The mistakes in the mix are way more obvious to me compared to the MDR 7506.
Personal choice. That said Headphones made for a specific genre of music sound like a bad gimmick to me. I go for studio cans myself. I use beyerdynamic dt770 pros at home and sennheisher hd25s when I am walking around.
I use Sony Inzone wireless buds for gaming and sim racing. Audio latency is important to me since I race in VR, so I went with a 2.4GHz wireless system instead of Bluetooth. Before VR I used a set of Sennheiser HD25 DJ headphones with an Antlion boom mic, which worked great if you don't mind being cabled.
Well over ear and on ear are two different things, with over ear the pads touch the head area around your ears, with on ear the pads sit directly on your ears I recommend audio technica tag-m50 for over ear and sennheiser hd25 for on ear
