Maybe the HD 25/HD 25 Light (if you're on a budget) might work for you? They max out at 120 dB/1V so I'd say they're pretty damn loud. I recently got a pair of HD 25 light and yaxi type B pads for them on a trip to Japan. Set me back less than $100 USD altogether for the pair, but they probably cost more where you live. You could definitely be able to get the pair for less than 200 USD though. Soundwise, you dont get rumbling bass, more like punching/slamming bass. For example, drums and kicks hit extremely hard, and electric guitars have more fuzz and impact to them. On top of that, the midrange stays mostly intact (albeit recessed) so it still performs well with less bassy music. There is a mild treble peak at 8-9k which doesnt affect me, but its something to look out for. That treble peak helps to expose detail, but it doesn't actually increase how much resolution the headphones have. What I mean is, if listening to a HD 6XX is like looking at a 1080p screen, the HD 25 is like looking at a 720p screen with the sharpness turned up a bit. I have tried using them for gaming, and that added sharpness helps pinpoint sound well. I'd say they're best for EDM, particularly techno, D&B, bass house and dubstep. They're also good enough at rock or metal, but they emphasise everything (drums, cymbals, electric guitar) other than vocals in that kind of music. Accordingly, I find myself turning up the volume to compensate. Same thing applies to pop music. Some songs that work: Bon Jovi - Living on a Prayer/ Deadmau5 - Ghosts and Stuff/ Porter Robinson - Language/ Queen - Another one bites the dust/ most YOASOBI songs What doesnt work as well are songs with more relaxed or soft vocals or big orchestral pieces Sound aside, a problem is that HD 25s aren't comfortable for a lot of people, since a) the pads are stiff and plasticky b) they sit on your ears. Hence, its recommended to get replacement pads made by Yaxi. These are made of soft pleather and are way more comfortable. They also make the headphone slightly more bassy and reduces treble a little, but not to the point of sloppy bass. If you're concerned about portability, HD 25s are about as portable as wired headphones get. They weigh around 140g (5oz) and come with a relatively short cable. I carry mine around attached to my phone with a jcally ja31 mini dongle. If you prefer wireless, I also think the Sony ULT WEAR is good for bass and especially comfort, but I think the HD 25 sounds better. Also, if its a big factor for you, HD 25s (or most other wired closed back headphones) are considerably more durable than wireless headphones. https://crinacle.com/graphs/headphones/sennheiser-hd25-plus/ here's the fr graph for them, all HD 25 variants use the same drivers
r/HeadphoneAdvice • Looking for headphones that are bass-heavy and loud ->I can only speak for myself but for a commute I don't want to take expensive stuff with me. I use something like the HD-25 light, DT 240 Pro (soon to be replaced with the 270) in combination with a dap or a dongle or the Momentum 4. Good enough sound, low profile...
r/headphones • Tried the HDB 630s today, was disappointed by the hype ->HD25: Recently researched, bought, am happy. In OP's price budget. Great sound isolation. No bluetooth, but latency isn't really a gift.
r/Beatmatch • Best headphones for DJing? ->Hey mate Im in Australia, paid $400 for a mould and custom etymotic band earplugs and are amazing, spend the money and don't look back. I have been wearing baby blues for over 15 years now when I'm not djing and now wear these custom plugs when I'm djing and absolutely no issues. I got the -9db and -15db and the -15 are spot on as you don't feel like you're isolated from the room at all and can hear everything and keep the top end. I still have my hd25's that are 20 years old now. New foams and still original cord.
r/Beatmatch • Headphones?? ->HD 25's are the industry standard. They are the best.
r/musicproduction • What headphones are good for mixing? ->I got hd25s on recommendation from this sub. They sound good but they have terrible isolation. If I want to play music loud in my home setup I have to crank the hd25s higher than I'd ideally like to. This is more of an on-ear Vs over-ear complaint, not a knock against the 25s. Just worth pointing out because they seem to be the go-to recommendation here and I think this is a glaring weakness in them as headphones for DJing
r/DJs • Best DJ headphones for mixing at home (club feel, not studio flat)? ->Personal choice. That said Headphones made for a specific genre of music sound like a bad gimmick to me. I go for studio cans myself. I use beyerdynamic dt770 pros at home and sennheisher hd25s when I am walking around.
r/heavymetal • Best headphones for heavy metal? ->My Grado SR225's left ear stopped working but gonna try fixing by replacing the jack end of the cable. Thankfully I got some Sennheiser HD25's to keep me going
r/pcmasterrace • Another „Gaming Headset“ bites the dust, tired of overpriced/hyped headphones. ->You know I'm just being silly, I forgot Sennheiser made HD25 and I have a pair myself! But yes, I know they are pretty much industry standard at this point and I know why.
r/Beatmatch • How do y'all hear anything through the headphones while the speakers are blasting? ->Jet the Hd25’s plus a set of aftermarket ear pads for added comfort.
r/Beatmatch • Best headphones for DJing? ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS
