Based on 1 year's data from Feb 24, 2026 How it works
Plus 1 for the Maxwells, I mean you can get low profile adapters for sennheiser headphones specifically the hd6xx series. Tempted to try it out of sheer curiosity cus they're less then $30 but I also dont need it lol. I'd use it on my HD569's imo they have way better build quality (even if there's less metal) comfort and no excentuated treble compared to the byers, and they're cheaper
Disregarding old over ear noise canceling cans i had years and years ago, 1. Fiio ft1. Its genuinely just amazing for the price. Nothing to sharp in the treble, decent enough mids that my ears (with abiut and hour of listening so far) dont pick out any issues, and the bass while the audio is there, bass heads like myself may feel it has less impact as a planar, and speakers obviously rival even good headphone bass impact. Its textured and clear. 2. Sjy horizon closed carbon There is a vocal forwardness to this set, has a decent little bass bump that I enjoy and the "detail" treble, is extended, I will say the headband, like the omega, kinda sucks. Its too big, very little clamp and doesn't feel secure, they are fairly heavy, there is also several songs that have a loud snap or crack sound, mostly edm if that helps because I couldn't pinpoint the frequency range myself, that comes across as very snappy and loud to my ears. Its there in the song with other sets but it doesn't hurt my ears the way this set does, if I could find the damn frequency and tone it down a few db I would enjoy it much more at my listening level. Detail retrieval is excellent and competitive with the noire x from dca. 3. The noire x from dca is very detailed, clean clear and sibalant on certain peoples heads including my own, the esses?? "S" while watching the headphoneshows closed back tier list was so bad I sent them back after a week. Its now a "test track" for things that may have an issue for me. Very comfy cans and if the amts works with your ears they will be a great pair, how ever the bass is there but doesn't lead to very much punch, kick, slam whatever term tickles your brain. Someone else i heard speak about the dynamic range, which I onky have a limited understanding of currently. 4. Hd569 To me the graphs seemed decent for the 60 bucks I paid, there not great. I've genuinely listened to them maybe an hour and 5 mins was actually listening and the rest was trying to eq them to sound more pleasant. I have very little impressions of the actual sound of them im sorry. They would be decent with someone who doesn't wear glasses, wants to eq them a little and is willing to buy open box. At the msrp, I rec the fiio ft1 much more.
Sennheiser hd569 or any other closed back headphone paired with a modmic.
they go down till 5k on sales... got mine for 5k... it sounds better to me than my senheisser 569 SE's
Totally look into some real HEADPHONE brands, not Headsets. Gaming \*anything\* is usually overpriced, low quality and just jacked up with RGB for no reason. It really depends on how much your willing to spend but Sennheiser's has some great lower-priced headphones that sound awesome. I'm using the Sennheiser HD569s and I picked them up on sale for like 170-200 dollars AUD and they sound amazing for a lower price ranged piece of headwear from a great brand. For 'gamer' brands, I really don't know whats good anymore. I used to use these crappy Razer headsets that kept breaking on me, went through 4 different pairs until i got my Sennheiser's and they've been great ever since. Defo look up some reviews or recommendations, or tier lists on Youtube for your specific case-use I can recommend the HD569s or the HD599 or 599 SE. But I have NO IDEA how these fair on controllers, I'm a PC gamer personally and simply found this brand and these headphones to work great for me, whilst being relatively lower priced. IEMs are also good too but I've never looked closely into them. When it comes to Mic's, it might be better for you to get a standalone mic but I can understand how that would be annoying.
If you don't need a microphone, I'd recommend the Sennheiser HD569 are great closed back. If you need a microphone, the PC38x are amazing, but they are open back which some people may not like if they have noises around them.
I listen in the office so I went with the closed back 569s. I enjoyed them so much I bought a second pair for home as well. OC is right. Just get a nice quality set of headphones with a flat-ish response and let the mix do the work.
AKG K361: incredible sound with extensive bass stage, might get treble fatiguing after a while. AKG K371: similar to the above, when those become too bright I grab these which in comparison are a bit bass heavy but smoother treble and with Dekoni Choice Suede pads are very comfortable. Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 80 ohm: the smoothest of them all, not as impressive but subtly incredible and great for relaxing and longer sessions. Very natural and elegant. I had them modded and now they have a short detachable cable with a mic. DCA Noire X: very strange tuning, most of the time, like 80% I don't like them and right when I'm about to sell them, I give them a chance. I like them temporarily quite a bit. I don't really know why this happens, but sometimes they do open up for me, but that joy doesn't last. When I like them, it's the bass soundstage depth, and what I dislike is the recessed range from the mids and up. Definitely not the best for complex music like classical or soundtracks, or TV. But at times they are great. Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro X LE: this is nothing at all like the original, only in name and appearance; comes with detachable cable (doesn't support mic), the sound is totally different, very forward V shape, impressive when you have that high energy and excitement, otherwise can get too intense. Will get sibilant and the bass is heavier. I used to love it for a long time, not so much anymore. Don't like: Fiio FT1: my least favorite despite the hype. They do have a very impressive deep bass, but that's it; they totally disregard the treble, even the mids, totally recessed in the upper range, might appeal bass-lovers. Focal Azurys: very good dynamics but totally flat soundstage, zero depth to the sound. Disappointing. Focal Elegia: strange tuning, but the culprit is the way the bass reverbs, it ruins the whole thing. Not worth it. Audiotechnica ATH M50x: similar issue with the reverb as the Elegia, plus horrifying painful clamp on the head. They have no redeeming quality. Sennheiser HD25: these are on-ear, totally unnecessary, painful clamp, tiny congested sound. I think DJ's like it for work, otherwise nothing good about them. Sennheiser HD569: the worst cheap sound I have ever heard in my life. Sennheiser hd620s: these are interesting; they don't sound necessarily bad by themselves, but the tuning is mid-centric and might take a few days or longer to adjust to their tuning, then you might really like them. They sound very similar to the Azurys in the good technical performance, but the HD620s actually have good soundstage, however unfortunately, the clamp of the headband is a torture. Conclusion: If someone with DIY skills dares, I suggest they build a headphone with a tuning between the K361 and K371, right in the middle, and actual durable materials that don't die in a year (mine did, I re-purchased them, get the extended insurance!), and comfortable pads. This would be my end-game forever ❤️
Never use GPT for advice on stuff like this…it’s awful. Anyways, I’m not sure what the regional pricing is, but… Sennheiser HD620s with the HD500BAM. If those are pricey (they absolutely can be) The HD569 are decent enough, and work with the BAM as well. A lot of people hate on these headphones, but they’re able to be had for less than $75 in the US and honestly not bad, but they’re not as good as the 620 or any of the 5 series open backs. Another option is the Fiio FT1 (non-pro, which are a completely different headphone) and one of the Meze boom mics would be awesome as well. The FT1 is a great headphone and one of the best closed backs right now. The Audio-Technica ATH-M50X are the old standby closed backs. And there are a few add-on mic choices like the Antlion ModMic or V-Moda Boom Pro. They’re still decent, but I prefer the other choices above, personally.
Tried many under 200. Best option is either Sennheiser 599 or 569 plus a bluetooth adapter. Comfort of the 500 series is goated. Extremely light and plush with exceptional fit (if your head is larger than mine, stretch the headphones for lighter clamp). They stay in your head no matter what and can barely feel them. Sound wise, both are good and relaxed. But if you don't want to leak any sound from your headphones, pick the closed ones (569). If there is no issue leaking sound, pick the open cans as they will be a bit more comfy with longer sessions (no claustrophobic sense). Even if you don't want ANC, consider a pair of them as those products are meant for your necessities. I had Beyerdynamic Lagoon and they were absolute perfection (they sounded pretty nice too compared to audiophile closed backs of its price). I don't recommend them though cause you can't find og replacement pads. As for the rest of suggestions, seems people don't read past the title. Fiio FT1, R50x, Fidelio, Meze 99, DT770 are wired and can be used with a bluetooth adapter, but the solution is way more cumbersome because they either have double cables or don't have a bluetooth adapter that adapts itself so well to the headphone like the VOXOA to the 500 series of Sennheiser (I don't have the VOXOA but another brand with the same shape). Also the DT770, while sounding fantastic, it's a bit tiring because of its sound profile. Regarding some of the ANC cans, proper bluetooth headphones suggestions, they can be good but I seriously doubt they'll sound as good as audiophile cans. The 560s is also good, I had it as well, but it will be more difficult to drive than the 599 or the 569.
