I have the same problem. For reference, when I wear bike helmet, I wear 62cm. Baseball cap size is XL or 7 3/4. I currently use Nova Pro 7, but the mic quality is not the best, and the sidetone has static noise. I have been using it for 3 years and looking for new one with better sound quality, mic and sidetone. Prior to this, I was using Sennheiser HD 598cs (same as 569), it's comfortable, but mic wasn't great and its wired. Here are the headphones I bought and returned due to small size. (either too tight or don't cover my earlobes) Logitech G Pro X2, Astro A50 gen5, Turtle Beach Stealth 700, EPOS H6Pro open, HyperX Cloud III, Nova Pro Wireless , Nova Pro 5. Drop PC37X, Sony Pulse, Sony Pulse Elite, Sony H5 Inzone. The only one that fit my head comfortably is Asus ROG Delta II, but the app is too buggy and sidetone didn't work for me.
I wear my Sennheiser 598 (open can) for like 16hrs in a row with glasses on sometimes, and they remain comfortable throughout. My ears get kinda uncomfortable if I wear my 598C (closed can) for more than a few hours in a row
Can’t say I’m familiar with them. I’ve just tried the HD600 and really liked them. I personally have been using a set of HD598s for about ten years and really loved them with no intent to upgrade. The HD600 is generally considered sort of the headphone for accurate sound reproduction. At that point the choice is going to be preference. I’d be seeking out everything I was considering and trying them out to see how I personally like them. Both sets are going to be similar quality in most ways.
I have a Sennheiser 598, 599, 560, 600, and 650. All are open back. The 598 is a little dull on the top end to me. The 599 and 560 are both very well balanced and very similar in range and coloration, with the 560 possibly pulling ahead just a bit. The 600 and 650 are not really brighter, and are both more power hungry than all of the 500 series that I have. They are however both more responsive and cleaner sounding with a decent little amp on them. The 600 is flatter, and the 650 is a little more colorful with more of a V signature and a slightly subdued high end. I don't think that the 500 series are especially intrusive to others as far as sound leakage goes as long as you keep them turned down when you are too close to someone else. My favorite of all of them is the 650 with fenestrated leather pads that increase the bass response slightly. I think that the 599 may be a good choice for you if you just exercise a little bit of discretion in setting your volume level when in close proximity of others. The last time I saw them on Amazon, (recently), the black HD599 SE could also be purchased for right at $100. I think they are both a good choice and a good bargain, all while being very light and comfortable.
Used sennheiser 598 for 11 years - no dac, no amp - i was very satisfied. Changed to Arya Stealth + Topping Dx5II - i am more satisfied. Just buy best headphones you can and dac/amp later. You'll have same, good quality sound on higher volume, surround is the same om headphones as on "normal" headphones. Games are dictating how good the sound will be on headphones, not the other way around.
Between my HD598's and my DT770's I feel like there's nothing else I need. 598's for punchy, 770's for balanced. Both long lasting, durable headphones.
Funny enough I prefer jazz on my HD589 over my HD6XX. I know objectively the 6XX should have the nicer frequency response, but the less revealing and more "comfortable" signature of the 589 just sounds better to my ears.
Oh sorry please excuse my ignorance. I did not know there even was a HD58X and just thought you meant the HD500-Range of Headphones :-( I sadly never listened to the HD58X specifically, and can only speak for the HD598 (there are not 589 as claimed in my prev. comment). They sound very warm and might not have perfect transparency, but the sound signature is just pleasant in opinion.
I used my Sennheiser 598 headphones. They sound great and aren't too expensive. Of course price is subjective, so it may be more than you want to spend.
HD600? Senns are plastic but my HD598 are like 15 years old now and I've dropped them sooooo many times never an issue.
Haven't changed my Sennheiser HD598 since 2015. Only had to swap the ear cushions 5 years ago and they work same as day 1. Absolutely love them. The wire is a bit annoying at times but I am not sure if there's a bluetooth equivalent model to have the same neutral sound stage and comfortability the 598s have.
