I know this is heaaaaaps late but I daily between HD600 and HD660 S2's very similar sounding headphones with some slight differences. Both are excellent pairs of cans. I play various games, Rainbow 6 siege (which has notoriously terrible sound), Overwatch, Cyberpunk etc. Both pairs are incredible for gaming, I honestly wouldnt have it any other way! The sound staging for games is incredible when you hear a shot wizz past it can actually sound like a proper bullet or close to when the sound is mastered well in the game. Personally, I would definitely recommend either pair or HD650's for gaming EASILY. Edit: I also don't EQ my headphones, just can't be fucked, and I use a JDS Labs element 3.
No way Senn’s 560s are better ranked than 660S2 😣😣
Thats so funny because its the other way around for me. I sold my Arya Stealth to buy a 660S2.
hd550 is a fairly affordable and safe pick imo. If you don't mind eq the 560s is another good set. If you love vocals get something from the hd6-line. HD660S2 can be found anywhere near $400 these days
hd560s if you want something cheap, hd550 if you can pay a bit more, hd620s if you have hd550 cash but want close back, hd600 if you like vocal and don't mind paying a bit more than hd550, hd660s2 if you want something warmer and doesn't mind paying extra. It's all about budget and preferences
mine is the hd660s1. Never feel like upgrading. Honestly loves them more compared to my ier m9

Totally fair question wanting solid bass doesn’t make you any less of an audiophile. You can absolutely have clean, rich low-end without sacrificing clarity or soundstage. The trick is finding open-back headphones that have a slightly warmer tuning or respond well to EQ. If you like the idea of the HD660S2, they’re excellent for detail and balance, but they’re not what most people would call bass-heavy. You might prefer something like the Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro (with the “balanced” pads) or the **HIFIMAN Edition XS** both deliver tight, extended bass while keeping the mids and highs open and spacious. The **Focal Elex** is another great option if you can find it; it has a punchier low end and a very engaging sound. Also worth noting, open-backs will never hit as hard as closed-backs in terms of sub-bass impact. If you want a bit more weight, a mild EQ boost around 60–100 Hz can do wonders without distorting the sound. So yes, you can definitely have that “best of both worlds” setup just look for headphones with a naturally warm tuning or pair them with a good DAC/amp and subtle EQ adjustment.
I got and returned the 109 Pro after few weeks. They are super comfortable, nice sounding and that is it. They are nice they didn't do much for me no complaints it just OK. I found my self going back more and more to my older Arya Stealth and 6xx. Obviously everyone is different but I think under $1000 there is much better at least objectively better headphones and you can listen to them first. Focal Clear, Arya Stealth, LCD-2C (used) I would even throw in 660S2. All these to me sounded better than 109 Pro.
