I don't think I've tried those particular Audio Technica ones, sorry. The one big issue I came across using headphones with Quad Cortex is to make sure you use a TRS (3-ring) jack and not a TRRS (4-ring). I tried my old Sennheiser Momentum 2.0s which have a 3.5mm 4-ring jack using an 3.5mm to 1/4" 3-ring adapter and they just screwed up the sound entirely. You might get lucky with some other make, but I'd just play safe and get headphones with a native 3-ring TRS-jack. I think the M50x has that 3-ring jack, so you should be good to go with those.

Thats honestly weird. Apple apm, sony whxm, bose qc, sennheiser momnetum/hdb, etc. can all do it. Very common feature for modern headphones in this space :)

I use the Sennheiser Momentum and I’m happy with it. For everyone here who is so pro-Shokz: the Momentum has a very solid mode where you can turn off the ANC.

I like the sound signature on Sennheiser Momentum Wireless. I have the latest version and it's definitely the best so far. But out of the box most don't sound that great for Deathcore, but an app like Wavelet will make a huge difference

And why? I have been using Momentum in and over ear headphones for years and am very satisfied. Especially True Wireless 4, the sound quality is insanely good.

For under $200 you can get incredible “audiophile-grade” wired headphones. Especially if you go for used. Wireless changes things though. I’ve tried all the popular Bluetooth headphones and they’re all pretty underwhelming, even in comparison to some $80 Grados. The Sennheiser Momentum line would probably be the only worthwhile wireless headphones to me. If you make the switch to wired, however, a whole new world opens up. And it tends to be much more affordable

I have a momentum 2 wireless (the first generation momentum they did wireless for), it's been a bit of a mixed bag. The sound is great, the microphone is decent, but the Bluetooth connectivity has done issues. I bought these right at the moment they pulled them from the market because their initial release has severe Bluetooth issues, I my order was on backlog for about 6 months before I got the fixed version, but they had to use a software patch for a problem with the Bluetooth hardware, it works but sometimes it has connectivity issues. Still in use after 10 years though 😁

Dont wear them to the gym or anytime you might sweat. I bought mine to play drums with and the little bit of sweat fried the circuit board. Sennheiser refused to help. Pretty sad since I love my Momentum 2s. I repaired the M4 only for it to happen again about 3 months later. I tried to repair them again and a ribbon snapped. They are great but theres no reason for the circuit boards to be mounted so low on the ear cups with zero sealant to keep even a little bit of perspiration away.

If you will not use them while off the plane, then just bring the Momentum's, I always keep my airpod pros in my sling, when I have some downtime I can just "cut the noise" around me for a bit and relax. For a flight I bring my over ears, I have tried the airlines free buds but they are terribly uncomfortable for me.
