If you want satisfying bass for your music genre go with MDR-M1 or FT1 closed-back. For open-back MDR-MV1 has the best sub bass & bass if your budget allow. Otherwise AR5000 or used 105 AER.

Maybe try TRRS balanced cable for MV1, many MV1 enjoyer have it. Their bass become even better and balanced out the high better. The sense of scale and space is slightly improve as well.

Most headphone sounds the same. But this is not the case on MV1 TRRS connection. Still, it is your choice not to try it. Good luck.

Right. We all can just crank up the volume when we want our headphone has more dynamic bass and bigger stage. It is just a simple suggestion. Stop forcing it into long argument. Take it or leave it. Good luck and stop imagine argument out of thin air.

Sony M1 and MV1 doesn’t need amp. MDR-7506 will do if you want affordable. They are all studio level clarity and accuracy.

For gaming and audio work, open-backed you got MDR-MV1 and HD490 Pro. For closed-back it is MDR-M1 and HD620s. Check them out, try them out if you can since you work at audio store. Not familiar with Logitech option

Yes they are very good for it. The soundstage and imaging for directional cue is very good, better than R70x and many of others headphone. R70xa and MDR-MV1 is leading in this area imo. You should pick the one most comfortable to you. If you want to save money R50x is very solid as well. High value option and after this you start hitting diminishing return on sound as price double up every time.

**Sennheiser HD 620S** \- Nice relaxed Sennheiser sound but with more bass than 6-series open backs, has that beautiful Sennheiser midrange, slight bit of treble weirdness, nothing too crazy and quite easy to correct, lacking a smidge of bass impact, nothing a bit of EQ can't rectify. Sound stage was quite good for a closed back, as was imaging, exceeded my expectations in this area. Respond to EQ fairly well, they do distort fairly quick if you feed them too much bass without enough negative gain. Absolutely fantastic build quality, these things are built like tanks, lots of clamp but rapidly loosening up the more I use them. Only negative in the build department is the stock cable kinda sucks. It's thin and holds it's shape too much. 150 Ohm impedance pairs nicely with a tube amp, love how they sound on the Valhalla 2 in high gain mode. 8.5/10 would recommend. **EQ settings:** \-7.8dB preamp gain | (1) Peak Filter 24Hz @ +6.0dB Q factor 0.71 | (2) Peak Filter 64Hz @ + 1.5dB Q factor 0.71 | (3) Peak Filter 118Hz @ -3.0dB Q factor 6.00 | (4) Peak Filter 238Hz @ + 3.0dB Q factor 5.00 **Sony MDR-MV1 -** Wow, how much bass can an open back have? These have a ton of bass impact and slam, and nice deep bass that's also tight. Listening to The Weeknd on these was a blast. Midrange was quite pleasant as well, treble definitely on the brighter side of neutral, just a bit peaky for my taste, but boy can these reveal some fine detail. Super low impedance so best to drive these from a source with very low output impedance, these do not pair well with an OTL tube amp at all, even on low gain. These EQ really well, generally require less EQ to get them where I like compared with the 620S (I do love me some bass). Comfort? PHENOMENAL. 11/10, super lightweight, aluminum ear cups with nice plastics, headband is comfy and spreads the weight, pads are excellent, my ears don't get hot in these at all. Might be the most comfortable pair of headphones I own, maybe the most comfy I've ever worn! 9.5/10, highly recommended! **EQ settings:** \-3.3dB preamp gain | (1) Peak Filter 23Hz @ +2.8dB Q factor 1.00 | (2) Peak Filter 6000Hz @ - 2.2dB Q factor 3.00 | (3) Peak Filter 7000Hz @ -1.5dB Q factor 3.00 | (4) Peak Filter 9450Hz @ -3.0dB Q factor 6.00 I've really enjoyed both of these, both had me grinning from ear to ear listening to different tracks. I honestly wasn't expecting to like both, and figured I'd surely be returning one or the other. Guess it's time to offload some less used headphones to subsidize these haha

So, headphone choice is super subjective, as well all percieve sound differently. That being said, a lot of research has concluded that very broadly, and I stress the word broadly, people tend to like a somewhat V shaped sound signature. If you are new to this hobby, it wouldn't be a bad idea to look for somrthing first that adhears fairly well to the Harmon Kardon Preference Curve, or similar curves like the Rtings curve or Soundguys curve. I also really stress that you should not spend 1k on your first pair of audiophile headphones, as you have yet to find out what your preferences are. Stick to a lower budget if you can, maybe 200-300 at the absolute max. I should also note that open and closed back headphones generally provide different experiences in both acoustics and comfort. Open backs tend to have wider sounstages, with more balanced sound signatures. Because the headphones allow air to pass through the ear cups, sweating tends to be less of an issue due to heat buildup. However, sound leaks out, and you will head everything going on around you. Closed backs as the name implies are sealed, with no air passing through the cups. They tend to better isolate against outside noise, and leak much less sound compared to open backs. They also tend to boast enhanced base response, but also have much smaller and intimate sounsstages. Overall, here are some headphones I can recommend you try, but you really should look into each a little more as well. If you had to have 1 headphone right now and didnt want to think twice before purchasing, a fan favorite beginner pair is the Phillips Fidellio X2HR. Its oftentimes considered a gateway into the hobby due to its relative low price (hovering around 150-175 these days) and mass appeal sound signature. I can also highly recommend the HD490 and MDR-MV1 which are slughtly above 300 and sound great. The MDR-MV1 in particular has a lot of sub bass extension, which you may enjoy. If you want a closed back, the Fiio FT1 is considered a great budget choice around 160. If you must spend 1000, I am of the understanding the Heddphone D1 is great and making waves in the community, though I've never tried it myself. In any case, I recommend that you go to a store near you and try on a bunch of these headphones. Make sure its a store that carries respected brands like Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic, Focal, audio technica, AKG, Audeze, etc. Try on a bunch and see what you like! Again, audio is super subjective, and you might hate headphones most people like, and love a pair most despise, because everyone is different. In any case, best of luck!

if the 560s and 490pro arent doing it for you the sony mdr mv1 is the other obvious option, if that doesnt work it will be left 100% on your personal preference which would be hard to find the ideal one.

Sennheiser HD599 for lesser budget. Sony MDR MV1 if definitely better but more expensive.

Go for Sennheiser HD 599. I own Sony MDR MV1, HD 599 and even Sony PlayStation Pulse 3D headphones. HD599 is miles better than Sony pulse 3D for Gaming, music and movies. I have never used pulse 3D after I experienced HD 599 in gaming and music. Sony MDR MV1 is definitely better, it had better bass and spatial resolution as it’s a studio headphone used for Spatial Audio mastering (it’s also used by Hideo Kojima for mastering his gaming audio), but probably doesn’t justify the cost difference (diminishing returns). You should definitely go for HD 599. Believe me you won’t regret. I also use Ifi Zen DAC for its Xbass feature to enhance bass performance even more. Sony MDR MV1 is end game for me as far as gaming is concerned which I recently purchased. But HD 599 was my got to headphone for past 1 years and it’s not much far behind in terms of audio. Go for it.

Comfort I'd say MV1 and SHure 840A. 840A I remember doing a comfort test. Wore it unplugged and just did chores and whatever throughout the house. It was like 4 hours on my head.

Sony does have replacement pads for the MV1 (at least in Singapore), though they're not sold in stores. I emailed them for a replacement pair when my original pads got mouldy and was quoted a price (SGD$60). A troublesome way for sure, but the pads do exist.
