Sony for noise cancelling, if that's your priority. But Bose tend to be more comfortable for extended wear. I personally prefer the sound for music and podcasts from Sony over Bose, but that is really personal preference. I know people who prefer Bose for the same reasons. The 1000XM5 is what I use, I had XM2s for several years. The latest XM6s will be marginally better with similar battery life, while Bose models tend to have lower battery life. The newer stem on Sony XM5 and XM6 is considered flimsy. While I haven't had an issue, I see people complain about durability of the Sony's a lot. It's probably going to come down to personal preference really, but Bose and Sony are the main players with Sony having an edge on noise cancelling and battery life. There's not much in the difference so if you're leaning one way or the other you can't go wrong.
The only reason I'm considering upgrading from xm2 is USB c charging. Everything else I own now is USB C
Hi there, I have the Sony WH-1000XM2, and it's a great pair of headphones. Ever since I purchased the WH-1000XM2, I've found them to be a little too warm around my ears, especially during longer sessions of usage. I figured that perhaps there are being sold earpads for the WH-1000XM2 by third-party vendors that offer greater breathability and size? The WH-1000XM2 is a good fit around my ears, but it would seem that they fit around my ears perhaps a little bit too snuggly, causing some discomfort. Do any of you happen to know of any third-party vendor who sell earpads for the WH-1000XM2 that offer greater breathability and comfort? Cheers!
I like the Sony XM5 better than the Sony XM6, the call quality sounds more real, sound a bit AI in the XM6. And the clamping force in the XM6 is very bad. The XM5 are much better on clamping force and phone calls. Has have the XM5 since they came in may 2022. The XM6 is little better on the ANC i don´t hear so much different in the music quality. and i don´t need to put it in the box, i just have it in a cotton bag never in the original hard case. I have the Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 too (best call quality and very easy aware mode or transparency mode with only one buttom to hold in and the music stops and you can hear eveything around you), and the Bose QC ultra (little better music quality than the 700 but worse call quality. Have has the XM2 and the XM4 before (good music quality but poor call quality. I shall sell the Sony XM6.
I've always listened to my music in other ways, and my headphones were more for on the go, so BT and noise cancelling. My car and home audio setups have always been where I invested. Recently, my old Sony WH1000MX2 headphones I used for gaming fell and broke. So I invested in some Hifiman Ananda Nano's and a Fiio K13 R2R and have been attached to my desk every night for the last week.
My favourite hack - wear ANC earphones underneath ANC headphones for double ANC. My AirPod Pro 2 underneath my Sony XM2 is bliss.
