A set of planars is what you need. I honestly don’t see how you’re going to get accurate *and* strong bass response in budget cans. I switched from HD490s to LCD-X and the difference in bass is significant. I could not trust the Sennies in that department (and those are $500 cans), especially sub 100hz. Keep in mind just bc headphones reproduce low end doesn’t mean it’s accurate for mixing duties. Either way you have to use a lot of reference materiel to learn whatever you get before trusting it for critical listening. Like others have said, I’d save for something like Slate VSX.
I second this, love mine, nearly went for the immersion ones when I got the upgrade offer but the closed backs are so good that I don’t think I actually need them.
Oh nice! Really keen to know what the subs are like on those, currently I mix down on the closed vsx then check subs on my AirPod pro’s. Just because i use those every day to listen to music so i know them really well for the bottom end when referencing. I’d like to know what the IO’s are like
They have been fine for me. A music studio staple since 2014. I’ve upgraded to Slate vsx platinum for producing with closed backs. But old faithful never let me down for hours upon hours a day.
I can only recommend what I have and use as a producer. Mobile use -Sony 1000 xm4’s. In ear mobile use Airpod pro3. Producing closed backs- Steve slate vsx, audio technica m50x. Open back ( more holographic 3D sound) audeze lcd 2c( eq’d and paired with a headphone tube amp) and hifiman edition XS( not unveiled) . If you have never heard dnb on open backs you’re missing out.
I haven't been using the VSX closed since I got the Immersion One so i'd say they are a good upgrade, if you've never tried planars they may be a good introduction to them, [Emrah of Mixphones](https://youtu.be/mnpGtSDtQB8) thinks pretty highly of them. I got them via the upgrade pricing of $599 from owning the closed backs
Slate VSX, no question but it's a bit more expensive. I tried Beyerdynamik and Audio Technica, it's not even close. VSX or real speakers, mastering music and normal headphones in the same sentence is a contradiction
VSX users sound like a brainwashed cult. They are just that good.
Cant get the grasp.how people can mix on VSX, it sounds horrible to me, I sold mine and use now NDH30 and a Tipping DX5 II head amp.
