while the price is right the fan is a nightmare.

I've tried to make mine as simple as possible: just one power cable, already plugged in, and as it's a relatively portable unit( Nebula Cosmos Max), drop it into place on the coffee table in the perfect spot (discreetly marked out already by coasters) and it's game on.

Hi everyone, I’m currently using a 2021 Nebula Cosmos 4K projector with a Sonos Arc + Era 300s + Sub speakers setup, and I’m looking to upgrade. I’d really appreciate any recommendations or advice. *Why I’m upgrading:* * **Brightness issues**: The current projector (DLP, 1500 ANSI lumens) struggles in ambient light — I can’t fully darken the room, so daytime viewing is almost impossible. * **Washed-out blacks**: Blacks appear gray, and the contrast isn’t satisfying for movie watching. * **No eARC:** There’s no HDMI eARC port, so I’ve had to use an Arcana box to split the signal between the projector, Sonos, and Apple TV, which is a bit clunky. * **Not true 4K**: The projector only upscales to 4K — it’s not native. Although it works quite well, I’ve noticed some areas of the screen have blurred or soft details. *What I’m looking for:* * Good 4K image quality (**native 4K**, not just upscaling) * **eARC support** (ideally one or two HDMI ports with it) * **Ceiling mountable** (will be fixed once installed — not moving it around) * **Auto-focus & auto-keystone** correction (since the projector will be slightly off-center and ceiling mounted) * **Great brightness & contrast** for a room that can’t get completely dark Notes: * Throw distance is \~4 meters (\~13 feet) to a \~100” screen * I mainly use it to watch movies, with occasional gaming on PS5 * Not interested in specific built-in smart platforms — I’ll use an Apple TV 4K * I don’t need internal speakers as I will use the Sonos system or optical/analog outputs, etc. * **Budget** ideally under £1,000/2,000 * I’ve seen suggestions like the JVC DLA-NP5BE and Epson EH-LS12000B, but those are outside my budget. I’ve looked into the Samsung The Premiere LSP9T (Triple Laser UST) and can get a good discount on it, but I’m open to either ultra short throw or traditional long throw, as long as it fits my setup. UST would require moving my Sonos Arc Ultra, which I’d prefer not to do unless the image quality is significantly better. Any projector recommendations that would suit my needs? Either ceiling-mounted or UST if it’s worth the compromise. Thanks so much in advance for the help!

I’ve had the Cosmos 4K for a couple years now and it’s still a beast besides the outdated software (I use an AppleTV anyway).

Solid. I take it out on the back porch during football season, shooting on a white screen. I can easily start a kids movie night well before sunset. I had it indoors for a time, shooting on a slightly gray wall and it held up pretty well with lamps on and such.

I have a Samsung S95c oled 65 inch and a nebula X1 and the older nebula 4k. The TV is crisp as fuck. Really really nice on every level. The X1 is a fantastic projector perfect for screens over 100 inches and you can position it at angles as well so I have mine in the corner of the room rather than mounted on the ceiling. It also has a handle so you can move it around. The old 4k Nebula is also superb on a budget.

The newer model is amazing so if it's half as good just buy it, as I've a older nebula 4k which didn't get great reviews compared to this one and I thought that was great. Compared to a projector from 5 years before these lasers are so much better
