I have the Mars 3 Air and I take it camping, I really like it but I do with it was 4K. 4K projectors are just too expensive.

My mars 3 air is probably my most used nebula due to the large capacity battery. I have the astro, air, laser4k (O.G.) and the X1

Nebula.ake top tier ones. The biggest battery with brightness is the mars 3 at 1,000 lumens on standard and 300 on eco. But their smart auto adjust works really well.

I have the nebula Mars 3 at 1,000 lumens it's great for 2.5 hours. 5 hours at 300 lumens .

We bough the Anker Mars 3 Nebula Air last summer and like it a lot. It has support for Netflix built in. When I was looking some said Netflix but you had to side load it and there were folks struggling with that. I also bought a high watt power bank that will extend out the non plugged in battery life by prob 4 hours. Needed an adapter to convert to the power input of the Air (wish they just used usb c or supported a power direct port). Sound is OK but also easy to associate a better Bluetooth speaker.

If you have access to Amazon what I did was narrow down my top 3 choices and then bought them all knowing 2 would be returned. It's so hard to know what's going to work well without being able to see them especially if you are going to be using it in less that really dark spaces. On paper spreadsheets I was not leaning towards the one I bought. Did the side by side test in our primary viewing area and it became an easy choice.

In my experience, a lot of portable projectors have pretty poor built-in speakers. Moving around a dorm, I assume you'll have an outlet available? Personally, I think Anker makes some very nice portable projectors that also have good sound. The one I have is no longer available, but maybe this guy: [https://www.amazon.com/NEBULA-Mars-Air-Projector-Built/dp/B0CHW168LV/](https://www.amazon.com/NEBULA-Mars-Air-Projector-Built/dp/B0CHW168LV/)

I tried the PJ40 Pro for a week and honestly, it was decent for $251 all in (had a discount at the time) and the fan is quiet as long as you keep the brightness on a lower setting (still plenty bright in a dark room). I’d recommend it to anyone wanting to get into the game to try something new/cheap with a warranty. I believe that video near the end has some calibration for the PJ40 that makes a huge difference as well. I valued portability, so I went with a Mars 3 Air which I find satisfactory for our use case at the moment. Once the kiddos outgrow the basement (recently finished and set up with their gymnastics equipment) then it’s go time to get a permanent/legit setup.

For an outdoor or full-shade setup at 105", focus on real brightness (around 1000+ ANSI lumens) and decent built-in speakers, since audio matters more outside; models like the Nebula Mars 3 or ViewSonic M2e are solid because they balance brightness, portability, and sound, especially for evening use. Just keep expectations realistic, outdoor projection works best after sunset even in shade. If you want something simple and user-friendly for mixed indoor/outdoor use, the Dangbei DBOX02 Pro is also a nice option with great color and easy setup, though it’s not as rugged or bright as dedicated outdoor-focused models.
