Same here, I’m still pretty new to projectors but totally get what you mean. Been running the AWOL for a bit now and honestly the experience’s been solid — more than enough for me tbh
The 3500 is bright and it has an absolutely horrible horrible black level performance. AWOL also doesn't have the greatest rep of the manufacturers but that's less important. But you can do better than the 3500 easily with the 2025 crop of UST's and save money doing it.
The AWOL flagship UST looked pretty juicy, we know they have the tech to do incredible black level (because Valerion). Price will probably hurt. How do the PX4 and the new Nexigo do the 200 inches though, is that just if you're in a cathedral and have endless height to work with for screen placement? I'm also curious about how they do the 2.35:1 in more detail. I hate having to use a 16:9 screen, it's just fundamentally wrong that trash content like TV 16:9 is larger than the 2.35:1 movies I really care about.
AWOL 3500 Edit: 3D was/is very important to me. This one checked the boxes.
I may catch some flak but I purchase the AWOL 3500 Pro with 132” ALR cinematic screen a week ago for $5,000 during their sale. Came with 4 3D glasses and their sound system included for free. Seem like a good deal and I’m happy with the screen/picture/ projector. I’m just gonna sell the sound system since I have one already.
AWOL 3500 pro. I feel like people give it crap but I truly am enjoying it.
I just did a AWOL 3500Pro with 132” wall hung ALR screen. I love it!! Inky blacks are good don’t me wrong i have a 83” LG G2 OLED. But losing the blacks for the size, brightness and colors have me loving my new setup. Paired with a UB820 4k Blu compliments it so much. I did the full AWOL for $5,100 including tax. Save the other $15,000
Honestly, LTV-3500 Pro is a beast — colors and HDR are insane. Hard to go wrong with that setup 👌
I got awol ltv 3500 pro. Works like a dream tbh. So you can go for ltv 3000 too acc to your budget.
I'm still kinda new to projectors but I did demo the AWOL once, the HDR support made a big difference to me. Epson looked brighter on paper but to my eyes the AWOL felt more cinematic, it's pretty sweet if you're watching movies in a darker room.
Yes, went from 75 to rising 120 alr from vivid storm, and an AWOL3500 pro. Some of my friends think I'm crazy, but I love it and have no regrets. It's plenty bright, and all but the darkest scenes on the brightest days is easy to see and fantastic at night. AWOLs customer service had been outstanding, and upgraded the product significantly 2 or 3 times since I bought it two years ago. If my family didn't care about the art on the wall, I'd just put up a fixed screen. We actually kept the 75 up ( behind the rising screen) for 6 months, but never ended up using it, so I sold it. I'm so happy and not ashamed to enjoy that thing literally every day. Room is ~15x18.
As echoed here by many others, the px3-pro beats the awol is everyday and less money. The Epson for those susceptible to rainbow effect and sensitive to laser speckle, the Epson has neither. I have all three at our showroom; happy to get into details about them or any other options; DM me if interested.
PX3-Pro best balance, Nexigo MKll if you want the best blacks & Awol 3500 if you want a light canon
