r/projectorsWould I benefit from upgrading to a 4k projector?

I currently have a BenQ 2150st on a 110" screen sitting about 10-10.5' away. I love this projector, have always thought it looks great with nice motion, great colors and rich blacks. I recently bought a more mobile projector for my campervan and stumbled on some of the newer 4k projectors that are available. My question is, will I be blown or away or even notice a difference? I mostly watch movies, 1080p streaming (not paying for 4k) but will occasionally get 4k local versions. I also occasionally game and this is probably where the most impact will be but I dunno. Is 1080p stuff upscaled? Is the resolution difference as drastic as on TVs and monitors? Thanks in advance.

Lots of decent options. The Benq 2150 will look best but an Epson 1080 or 90 will have more pop but less refinement. Could be good for your use. It’s less bright and not requested 4k but the xgimi horizon pro would fit some people’s setups in that budget.

I've had my BenQ HT2150ST 1080P for 7 years, finished up construction of the HT room and decided to upgrade to something compatible with 4k and laser. Tired of worrying about bulb usage and replacment. After watching this YT video I got both the Nexigo Trivision Ultra and Valerion Pro 2 for a side by side comparison. The Valerion is amazing, on a 120" is amazing. Text is sharp and crisp and the contrast ration on this makes it look like a giant tv. Of course if your concerned about budget the Nexigo for half the price is a good value. I'd recommend ordering a few on the top of your list and compare and keep the one that suits you. I decided on the Pro 2, it was worth the extra $. https://youtu.be/ClIboELoz74

Hi op, so for a basement space I’d recommend the Epson EH-TW units, other brands such as BenQ and Viewsonic would be great options as well. XGIMI has the Horizon Pro 4K. BenQ W1070, W1070+, HT2150ST, HT2050A, HT3050, and etc. Optoma HD141X-146X

r/projectorsProjector to replace TV?

Yes you absolutely can I wanted a tv in my room but didn’t have a good wall. My bed faces the door into my room and next to my door is my sliding door closet so there was no way to put a tv there so I put a motorized 120 inch projector screen right at the entrance to my room and installed a projector to my ceiling. I have a Benq ht2050st and it’s perfect itd a short throw so it shoots 120 inches at just 4 feet away. It’s the perfect setup for me I have the screen up most of the time so I can go in and out and nothing takes any space from my small already cramped room. When I want to watch tv I just put the screen down with the remote and turn in my projector and boom 120 inch movie theater right Infront of my bed. It’s really big so it takes up the whole area going outside so I have to shimmy my way around the screen if I want to leave or I just put it up. I haven’t had trouble with day time viewing I just close the blinds

A good quality 1080 projector that can pass through 4K content is fantastic (especially on a 100 inch). I have a 1080 BenQ and haven't felt the need to upgrade to 4k yet. I get the mastering and bitrate of 4K discs, just not the actual raw resolution. I didn't have to spend over $1000, not even close. In fact I spent $425, which is *insane* for the level of quality. It works out very well. Though I may have to change the bulb soon lol.

It's good. Many of us have been down your road, till we understand that there's always better projectors that can fit a budget. I had a 720, moved up to be BenQ 1080p, and an Epson 1080p. I'm thrilled with these two and one day, when I get some cash, I'll try a 4K. But you're doing good. And they won't be as loud.

r/projectorsFirst Home Theater Build — Is a Good 4K Projector + Screen Possible Around $5k? Ratio Confusion, Too

Projectors last a long time, so spend the money on a good one now. I picked up a $750 1080p Benq, expecting to replace it within three years. It's been eight. I'm now willing to drop $5000 on an Epson LS12000 because I now know it will last me a decade. Silver Ticket screens are solid. Sure the Steward is better, but there's diminishing returns after a certain price. You can always upgrade your screen at a later date, but I doubt you'll feel the need.

I went from cheaper 70inch 4k Samsung to benq 1080p projector I purchased on eBay. Even though the resolution isn’t as good I prefer the projector by a long shot. I love it

Have a look at Richer Sounds. I picked up a BenQ 1080p projector for £200 and gor a discount for signing up to their newsletter. It was a return / open box. I was projecting almost my full wall height - it was amazing. Room layout change means a smaller projected size now but still great.
