I also have the TK710sti. Installed in March. It's great with lights off. When used with lights on, not so great. If I had it to do over, I would have spent the extra money for the 936 model. https://preview.redd.it/jiz6887m0m4g1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=645afe3b835124c9dc7abdc36b18d8ed99a4897e

Yes, if I could do over I would have purchased the LK936ST. And I just checked my invoice from BenQ and I misspoke. I purchased the AK700ST, which is even brighter than the TK710sti.

r/projectors β€’ Recommendation for Laser Projector? β†’

I have both an optoma GT1090HDR and a BenQ LK936ST laser projectors.. both are short throw with less than 1 throw ratio... I like the picture on both.. of course they are bright high lumen units.. not sure what kind of room you are using.. if a fully dark room youd likely be a bit dissapointed with the blacks even in eco mode.. but if theres any ambient light, the cinema mode on the optoma with HDR on makes for a nice quality picture.. both of my laser units are pretty much instant on... theres always the short couple second logo display and the HDMI sync but then they come on bright and ready to go.. the ydefinitely arent cheap, and the short throw may not work for you.. the BenQ is 4K and super bright, I got it minky because i wanted a high resolution at 132" on a somewhat small room with quite a but of ambient light.. my use case is more casual TV / sports, and Business (I run them as computer monitors quite a bit).. the BIG Minus in my book for the GT1090 is the fact it has no optical zoom, so you have to place it exactly where you want your screen size, that said i still find it a solid projector for multi use.. its 1080P and not 4K, the BenQ is 4K and has zoom, as well as physical lens shift so you dont have to use keystone for mild V or H placement issues..

Native 4k: Sony VPL-VW325ES Faux 4k: BenQ LK936ST To be honest the faux 4k is crispy enough for outdoor movie nights

Looks like one of the Benq golf simulator short throws. Probably 5000-7000 lumen. They have to handle floor to ceiling screens with a relatively short throw distance for the screen size and throw lots of light because no one wants to practice golf in a light controlled room.

I cannot stress how much OLED snobbery plagues this sub. Picture quality does not matter THAT much... I game on a 110" screen powered by a 4k BenQ projector (very cheap but solid projector for gaming) and the size of the screen alone absolutely blows everything else away for the gaming experience. Size is truly king over everything else in the theater world.

Incorrect. It is picture SIZE first, then audio, then picture quality. Movie theaters have existed for 100 years with what would now be considered terrible picture quality yet they were still great experiences because of the size of the image and the immersion it brings.

Literally my journey. Cheap Amazon projector as an emergency display while on the road. Lasted us a year and change at home. When the filter burned through upgraded to a BenQ 4K setup. No way my wife would have been interested in the cost for the system without testing a cheap version first.

I have a 110" ALR screen paired with my BenQ 4k projector. Space limitations kept me from the 120" screen. I still have my 40" Sony. I think we get conditioned to the TV image, and forget what being in a movie theater is like.Β Β  Are the images different? They most certainly are....and you will never get eye strain from a projector. IMO, the images are more realistic with a projector and the large screen adds to the viewing pleasure, be it your favorite film or sporting event. I love watching hockey and football!

Projectors have as many settings as a tv. Adjustments can be made to your viewing pleasure. There's no denying that ambient light is the enemy of all projectors....even in a movie theater. When the lights are "up" in your local theater, the image on the big screen is impacted....and so it is with your home set up. I have my projector set on Filmmaker mode, and laser set at Eco mode...higher settings are available, but these give me the most satisfying image to my eyes, with no worry of eye strain. Again, the images via projector are different than a tv.

I would go projector without a question. I have a BenQ 4k model and 120" screen and the movie watching is so much better.
