I've used [this](https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-TK710STi-Projector-Response-Chromecast/dp/B0D486MJN9?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.7_jZcViZ8f5IgNzc6jkprI0Ng7Ri4GCl_GQqUIsDeOVL4WRIwePeSArs6NwVdyi53bLst6-WqnJstatVWWHMRESMqQ8pAzffz71e-w4Va2QJ0mtWkkhFj6EB4e4wOxd4MV8sLAjSIenRivlCYsRU-Rbbc-TZvtWIfWBQzkXJ_zM.A953x9FnhP93iZvGza6jxIPKGRxaPHTnlVY9gL-IlhM&dib_tag=se&keywords=TK710STi&qid=1750833580&sr=8-1&th=1&linkCode=ll1&tag=grok43-20&linkId=4448a56e4cd3c243bb432e5df638bad0&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl) TK710STi for outdoor movie nights on a 120" screen, and it's been a standout. The image is bright, crisp, and rich in color, even with subtle HDR details that really pop. Setup is easy with the short throw distance I had no trouble fitting it into a small space. Compared to other projectors I've tried, including the X500i, the difference in sharpness and overall picture quality is immediately noticeable. It’s not cheap, but if you care about a truly cinematic experience at home, it’s worth the investment.

i got a tk710sti as it was one of the very few options that fit into my throw distance to screen size setup. image is very good for me, no artifacts, no problems, never seen any rainbow or anything. setup was easy, image adjustment to get it nicely into my screen was easy and works fine. integration with sofabaton was great. it does have a relatively loud fan though, that i can confirm. much more than what i was used to and becasue of the short throw it's also placed right above the sitting position. it sounds scary when turning it on and browsing through netflix to select a movie, BUT as soon as the movie plays with good sounds i don't hear it anymore at all...so yeah, it's weirdly loud and when there is no movie sound on it's a bit much maybe, but while actually watching i never had any issues with it at all.

BenQ is a solid brand. Be aware that you will want some sort of sound system to go with things and that if you have planned a spot for the projector to go, you need to be sure the throw distance will work with that projector and your 120" screen. That is, the lens on the BenQ TK710 is MUCH different than the lens on the TK710STi. My opinion is that I would get the TK710 or the Epson TW7100. The Epson offers a lot more placement flexibility and has very good contrast and brightness which makes it a very solid first projector. The TK710 uses the larger .65" DLP chip inside of it which should prove to be far more reliable than the typical .47" DLP chip used in most 4K projectors. The TK710 does have features like HDMI-ARC which will get audio from the projector back into a sound bar or similar audio system which uses HDMI-ARC as many do these days. It may be a significant feature to consider. The HT2060 is a solid 1080p projector, but if you can get the TK710, I'd probably go that route for a 4K model instead.

If this is a permanent installation, look at home theater projectors, or lifestyle models designed to be easily ceiling mounted. A proper 5.1 audio installation with an AV receiver is a must, especially in a dedicated space with a home you actually own. Run wiring in the walls before you paint, and you will have a life long proper surround system. Avoid equipment at the front of the room if possible. Run HDMI to the projector and make it so you can swap out that HDMI cable. Wireless/screen mirroring is generally quite a lousy way to do anything. Use a wired device like an Apple TV or a Chromecast. If you're just streaming, consider a Roku or similar. The lifestyle models, as seen in the video, and as recommended with the X1 are decent solutions for sure, but are trickier to ceiling mount if they don't have a 3-point or 4-point mounting structure as is common with traditional projectors. Plus, they rarely have zoom and lens shift is almost unheard of. These are more common features on traditional projectors. But, the Hisense C2 Pro is a model with good zoom but terrible mounting. The Nexigo Trivision Ultra is well reviewed and has 4-point mounting which is nice for a ceiling setup. No zoom, no lens shift, so positioning must be very accurate for best results, as is common. Super easy to setup are models like the Epson 3800, but they are lamp-based and pretty much past their prime. A shame we haven't seen a laser version of those models yet. The BenQ X500i or X3100i are considerations as is the TK710 (or TK710STi) which are decent traditional models. High end starts around $5000 with Epson, Sony, and JVC models, all worthy in a good theater. Not sure what you're really hoping to spend here. A fixed frame screen from Silver Ticket is a excellent way to go.

I have a Benq TK710STi in the basement theater room for gaming. It’s $1700, plus a screen is going to be around your budget probably. It does 1080p@240hz or 1440p@120hz. Size and high refresh rate make gaming really great on it. I love it for that. However, for watching movies, I’m disappointed in it. I have OLED screens on everything else in the house and so the projector just doesn’t look great. Additionally, during panning shots on movies, it can give a stutter that makes me dizzy, since it doesn’t have the motion technology that at TV has to smooth the movement. Lastly, the unit itself is very noisy. I’d say go TV.

I just upgraded to the 710sti from the 700sti very pleased with the image overall. Not getting any noise issues, in fact I was super impressed in the upgrade to the blacks and shadows over the 700 model. What I am getting, and this is insanely distracting, is a gradual shift in the tint from red to blue to green. Not sure if this is inherent in laser projectors and I’m just not used to it or if I got a bad unit. Posting two zoomed in images just a second apart in the movie. You can see the whites are different and one has more blue. It does this with reds and green shifting back and forth randomly. I have the BenQ TK710. It is 4K laser and 3200 lumens for $1799. The TK710 STi is the short throw version with the same specs, and it is $1999. For best results, you'll want a good ALR screen if you plan to use it in a room without good light control. I have a 120 inch Elite Screens Cinegrey 3D. The combo pretty much looks like a giant 4K television unless I flip on the bright ceiling light that's right beside the projector. Even then, you can still see everything. It just looks a bit washed out. ALR screens aren't cheap, though. I paid $800 for mine, so that would blow your budget. You could get the projector now and the screen later, I suppose.

The only 4k120hz projector is the LS11000/LS12000 but the 4k120hz mode is not worth using due to the slow pixel response time of their LCD panels. Here's an explanation of why there are no DLP 4k120hz projectors and why DLP at 1080p120hz or 240hz is a much better option: [https://youtu.be/biXPgm-pxiU?si=oYPaBJqPFzoSD\_R3&t=302](https://youtu.be/biXPgm-pxiU?si=oYPaBJqPFzoSD_R3&t=302) If you are looking for laser the new BENQ TK710STi has the same input lag numbers as the x500i and I'll have a video out shortly comparing the two.

I can’t say anything for the ViewSonic but I’ve had three projectors so far. The first was LED and the latest two (including the TK710STi) are laser. I largely chose the 710STi over the regular 710 because of its throw ratio - I don’t use the Android stick at all as I have an Apple TV. My projector is 3.6m from the blank wall and, from that I’m getting a diagonal screen size of 163”/4.14m (according to the measure app on my iPhone). I’m VERY pleased with the size, crispness and brightness of the image 😊 I like the crisp vividness you get with laser projectors but super important is of course being aware of the ANSI lumen rating as ‘lumens’ doesn’t mean a whole lot on its own. I project onto a white wall but, especially with laser projectors, you’ll get significantly better colours and perceived light levels with a proper screen. I only got the 710STi recently but I can highly recommend that range, even if it’s a bit louder than I was expecting.

Yep, a long time ago and I have no plans to go back to a TV. Projectors take up barely any space compared to a TV and you get a massive image from them. My projector gives me a 165 inch image which, paired with my sound system, is perfect for movies (especially 3D movies) 😊 I use a BenQ TK710STi

I don’t have the TK710 but I recently got the TK710STi 😊 I upgraded from a Xiaomi Mijia Laser 1S (the short throw one, not the UST). The image that comes out of the projector is absolutely stunning 😍 super crisp, great colour, and just amazing particularly when the room is dark or almost dark. I bought it for three features: 1. Massive projection size at close range. The projector is sat 365cm away from the wall and I’m getting a projection size of 157” diagonal (according to the measure app on my phone) 2. Proper 4K support - stunning images with HDR supported 3. 3D! I bought a second hand PS3 specifically to play 3D movies and, with the screen size I’m blown away! I love 3D movies and I regularly go to an IMAX cinema to see new releases. Nothing comes close to IMAX 3D, but for 3D at home this projector is perfect 😎 The complaints I have: - No optical audio output ☹️ I use an Apple TV 4K and I’ve ordered an HDMI audio extractor to split the audio out into Optical - The fan noise is A LOT louder than I’m used to with the Xiaomi. In my setup, the projector is pretty much at ear height directly behind my sofa as that’s the only place I can put it. Sure you can turn the projector to Eco mode and that cuts the noise maybe by 30% but even then, it’s much much louder than the projector I previously used 😭

Looks like it’s the tk710sti with the auto fit feature of the AH700.  I have the tk710sti and it’s fine, but I will most likely upgrade to a brighter projector.  The tk710sti only gets about 2450 lumens when in color accurate mode (living room).  Bright mode looks terrible.   Plenty fine for golf, but lacking when trying to use for home theatre

I have one and it’s great. Definitely some fan noise but it gets drowned out by my sound system. I have a very basic db meter and can take a reading for you while watching 4k with the sound turned off. Let me know
