Great picture, good gaming, but pronounced RBE and no lens shift.

That’s such a cozy setup, man! 😄 Since the distance is only around 3.2 m and the ceiling is slanted, I’d skip any complicated mounts and just go for a **small portable projector with auto focus and keystone** — way easier to deal with. * **BenQ GV50** – perfect size for a bedroom, nice picture and sound. * **Dangbei Atom** or **XGIMI MoGo 2 Pro** – quiet, have Google TV built-in and super easy to move around. If your budget’s around **€700**, those models are the sweet spot — clean setup, no cables all over the place, and great for watching in bed.
**Some context.** Read tech reviews, forums, did my due diligence and I bought a... bloody **Dangbei Atom**. Not because I need something to carry around, but because I have a veeeeery small apartment. Surprise, surprise, the image quality is far more lacking than the reviews and posts made it seem. \---------------- My main complaints, ranked: **Massive colour fringing** **and halos** I can't play videogames with it, reading text is painful. Everything seems out of focus. **🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬** **Contrast** Well, what can one expect. **🤬🤬🤬🤬** **Laser speccing** Not as annoying, but, c'mon. **🤬🤬🤬** **Lack of any calibration features** You can fiddle with contrast and brightness, that's all. **🤬🤬** **Lack of optical zoom** A pain to setup properly. **🤬** Things I am ok with 🍌🍌🍌🍌 **Size and noise** \-> Fuck yeah! 🍌🍌🍌 **Speaker** \-> Pretty good, albeit I don't use it. 🍌 🍌 **Google TV** \-> Why not. 🍌 **Good enough ->** for someone less anal than us when it concerns image quality. \---------------- # Now, my request :) Can you, pleasy please, recommend a projector that: * Costs less than 2000€ * Is small (hence laser). * Has s chip as big as possible * No colour fringing. * Proper calibration capabilities. * Blacks as dark as a mamma bear. * Good enough for a dark-roomed, borderline neurotic, *filmaker mode* midlife crisis guy. Please bear in mind that: * I used to work doing colour grading so *passable* image quality gives me boils and panic attacks. * Sadly, I am not rich. * I have no room for a nice Oled. Microscopic apartment. Ps. I tried a JMGO N1S 4K and , though the image quality is way better, fringing is still subpar for this picky fella. 🥹 Thank fellow nutters! 🥹
Dangbei Atom is what I would recommend fantastic small laser projector.
If you have a home cinema - yes .. but for a beginner - absolutely not. Also the old brands are far behind the chinese brands in the budget sector, so that is very, very poor advice. This is coming from someone who has a Benq btw. It has been lovely, but my next unit is unlikely to be from one of the big brands. For 500 euro, maybe he could get lucky and find a Dangbei Atom. For daytime use it is great as it is very bright for the price. It is small and easy to move, it has everything integrated.
Absolutely love my Dangbei Atom, it gets super bright, is portable, and it meets your price requirement.
I would recommend the Dangbei Atom. I have it myself in my bedroom. It doesn’t have a battery but it can be outfitted with a usb-c power bank. Way brighter and laser light source. https://a.co/d/eKNZlrq
