Are you me? Same projector, last week, about 3m as well. Love it.

I got a Dangbei N2 for bedroom use last week for €186. It was the only one from The Hook Up $100-$500 recommended ones that was readily available in Europe. So far I'm happy. My distance from screen is \~3m.

Reviews are bought. If you look around here there’s a giant stream of people asking why their happrun or magicube or other $100 projector has a burn mark or is stuck in boot up. They are all crap til you get up to the basic dangbei xgimi or Anker projector and those at 300-400 arent very bright but at least might last a little while

I’d say go for something with high lumens (3000+ at least) if your room has windows, even with shutters, since brightness really matters in real use. Most modern projectors already come with built-in speakers, and they’re fine for casual watching, but if you want a proper cinema feel later, you can always add a soundbar. Also, built-in DVD players are pretty rare now, people usually just plug in a streaming stick or console instead. Brands like Dangbei are worth checking out since they’re known for easy setup, good brightness, and solid all-in-one features, which sounds perfect for what you’re looking for.

China projectors for sure, but you are listing the wrong brands. You should be looking for Vidda (Hisense), Dangbei, and Xgimi. Xiaomi does not make good projectors. Konka is just ewaste.
