You should consider buying a used projector. I'm still using an Epson TW-3200 that I bought 12 years ago and it's GREAT. Not really the best projector for your purposes as your throw distance is a bit short for that thing. It's designed for people with larger rooms :)

Im still on a 1080p Epson home cinema. OG bulb. Never spend more than you need to for your application. Most hate is people trying to justify the insane price they paid for that extra 10% performance.

Man, still got 1080p Epson home cinema on a 140 inch screen. It really isn't that big a deal. Get a 4k unscaler and save yourself 1000s and/or put more in the sound.

It's good. Many of us have been down your road, till we understand that there's always better projectors that can fit a budget. I had a 720, moved up to be BenQ 1080p, and an Epson 1080p. I'm thrilled with these two and one day, when I get some cash, I'll try a 4K. But you're doing good. And they won't be as loud.

Huh. I had the opposite experience. My basement had an area where the previous owner had a pool table that I turned into a home theatre area. I bought an Epson 1080p projector for around $650 or $700, made my own screen frame for around $150, then good quality projector screen fabric to make a 110” screen. I bought an Onkyo receiver and some surround sound speaker from Facebook marketplace. I already had furniture. I dunno, it’s been several years but I’d say I was into it for around $1,700 or $1,800? 110” screen, excellent picture (Avatar was great), surround sound…. I’m quite happy with it.

Would love to find a good home projector for my screening room that the previous own built in my house. Currently have a solid Epson 1080p projector. Was looking at maybe getting a JVC NZ500 for like 7k but was trying to see if maybe there wasn’t something just slightly cheaper. Would love good brightness and 4k resolution. Any suggestions?

I have bought multiple projectors off shopgoodwill.com to get me started, a 1080p Sony projector is in our gazebo, in the basement I have two 1080p Epson projectors and one Christie that I didn’t pay over $40 each for. You can get decent deals when auction times end at off hours. I even got a perfectly working (remoteless) Denon X2600h for about $230 shipped from there. Check it out!

Great picture/gaming, but RBE and no lens shift are dealbreakers.
