I actually have a groview 818c in my bedroom! That one also has a burnt screen with little use so you are lucky! But for the price I don’t mind bc it lasted a year. I’m looking at the Epson Home Cinema 1080 for 699 new. Thoughts?

My throw distance is right at 11ft, I have my projector on a shelf mounted on the back wall. I’m using cheap Growview 818C for now, and its been surprisingly good, but after I finish the remodel I plan to upgrade it to one of the following: BenQ TK710, BenQ HT2060, or a Valerion. I want something I can mount higher up the wall without using key-stoning to get it further from my viewing distance.

Really depends on what your throw distance is. I’ve been using a Groview 818c for the last 2 years, and haven’t had a single failure with it (despite what you always read about cheap projectors on the sub), but like you, I also want an upgrade. I’d like to have a projector with better focus (big weakness of the Groview). I believe the PJ40 has a similar throw ratio as the Growview, and some of the projectors I’m considering that should work in my space are: Paris Roan, LG HU70LA 4K, and BenQ HT2060. I’d really like the JMGO N1S for under $1000, but at my throw distance of 11’, it just doesn’t work for my space.

I'm using the[ Groview Jq818c](https://www.amazon.com/Projector-Bluetooth-Synchronize-Smartphone-Compatible/dp/B09813LFNK/ref=sr_1_1?crid=8ABTIT3RDMUD&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.E7dzPWJOxcIObG9HZ6x1w_RQp2yy4xD8SPV8sUN39_hBFnMQHz9iDDll8tV3drwo5q7aD1O3tpOuw72gi8Sh0G-WZkw7t2OOWTkCwrPbDZvLpMnLpGaWxAGjc_U7lfcx_HlK_Cq9iNCyg3fzasbU00CbbCVcC7VHcDQ-to764613k9tBs757OKlMfyrlTGuk8RGRlIHcbJCZt9KDfiO-uXqw2s0CNXaPOXAfdSOdPdopSN4Kfr-dwL0b_xQvLjdM-L618HRK8gHoaVqCn__9tiPMelM772-_gxCyStYjalY.dYPh-YvI8UfDSVl8DCTI7yW_K7ACauhHus72K0fQO5k&dib_tag=se&keywords=jq818c&qid=1729833241&s=electronics&sprefix=jq818c%2Celectronics%2C94&sr=1-1) [I timestamped this review ](https://youtu.be/ooFvyudbxNE?si=RHzD-CnKiDoX-jeC&t=693)for you. This is what convinced me to pick it up.. Seriously no regrets, it's fantastic. It's not short throw and I'll eventually upgrade. But I got it for $130 and it's honestly perfect for now.

I had the Happrun and it was great. Upgraded to the Groview and it's even better. The only trade off is that the Groview is definitely a bit louder, but the brightness and contrast is so much better. Edit: I actually bought the Groview from that exact seller on ebay.

We’re only 10’x8’ to get started so thank you for confirming, a cheap way to see if we like it and we can always upgrade over time!

Groview 818c off amazon for $120. Couldn't care less that my head leaves a shadow. Would attach a photo if I could.

If you're willing/able to get your garage pretty dark while playing, the Groview JQ818C is the king of ultra budget projectors. [It's currently on sale for $120 with a coupon at Amazon. ](https://a.co/d/bWET7K0) The Hook Up on YouTube has it as the best budget projector. I have it myself projecting a 16 ft x 9 ft, and it looks great in a darker garage. It does get washed out easily though, so I combine it with a mini spotlight for the hitting area.
