Great picture/gaming, but RBE and no lens shift are dealbreakers.

Running these analyses costs money. Buy through my links to help keep lights on! I may get a small commission.
I think they meant a 4k projector overall instead of a 1080. I have a Hisense PL2 and bought it specifically because I wanted one to do 3D. I am very happy with it and have no complaints. If they are planning on using a PS3, it will not work for 3D.
Very happy with UST Highsense PL2, looks great just onto the wall without a screen, it's quite big though, but the speakers are decent. https://preview.redd.it/3jr35ffujdeg1.jpeg?width=3648&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5888c7d74d6e4166ab14399b0fef6d9305614377
Id suggest look for a ultra short throw, I'm also from Canada and picked up a open box hisense PL2 for $499 +tax
I started with something basic and later switched to a Hisense UST, mainly because setup was just easier in my space.

Great value with huge lens shift, but outdated lamp tech and poor HDR.

Superb 4K/120Hz gaming and no RBE, but requires calibration.

Budget king, durable with good image, but RBE can be distracting.

BenQ
HT2060
Excellent 1080p contrast and quiet gaming, but low brightness for big screens.
