I have the NX7 (pretty close to NP5) and the NZ800….not side by side, but I’m still amazed every time I fire up the NZ7. 5 years same lamp, and while it must be dimmer, not replacing until I really notice it…you will love it.

That’s a great price for that unit. I still have an NX7 and it’s incredible, I’m waiting a while to upgrade still.

I have a JVC NZ800 and it is wonderful, and well less than $20K. My previous projectors were a JVC NX7 and a SONY 385ES. The NZ800 is by far the best.

There is a difference between the JVC NZ8 and the JVC NZ800. The NZ800 is the newest model replacing the older NZ8 and the newer JVC NZ800 now has some sharpness enhancements that rival SONY's Reality Creation. In general the JVC projectors have better contrast ratio and black levels compared to a similarly priced SONY and in the past SONY has had the edge in perceived "sharpness". I think that is no longer the case with the newer NZ800. I own one and it is very sharp. The JVCs also have the edge in dynamic tone mapping over the SONY, so for HDR (movies and Netflix) the better JVC tone mapping and contrast ratio/black levels give the JVC the edge over SONY. My last projector was a JVC NX7 and before that several SONYs.

I have the nx7 with a high gain alr screen and I would say no… I’m sure the higher lumen projectors are better but I find even in a dark environment it isn’t bright enough for hdr. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’m a sucker for JVC. I’ve had my NX7 since 2021 and I’ve had zero issues. The picture is stunning, even relative to my OLED TVs. I imagine the newer laser models are even better.

Epson will be brightest and average contrast and blacks. Sony will be less bright but better contrast. JVC is lowest brightness but incredible blacks and contrast. Pick what you prefer.
