We just got the mag hy310x and I’m really impressed. It by no means is near the quality of our main living room projector but it’s excellent for the bedroom. We had to reduce the screen because the default was way too big. We have it around 80-90 inches at the moment but it can definitely throw much bigger than that. Got it for €65 on Aliexpress.

If I had to choose again, I’d probably go for the HY310X, it’s got native 1080p and is still super affordable. That said, I originally bought the HY300 just to try things out, and to be honest... it never gave me any real problems. But I also treated it like royalty 😄 (I literally screwed it into the wall and never touched it again, so maybe that helped!) Now I’m moving toward something way more expensive: the XGIMI MoGo 4. I really enjoy this ceiling setup, but I’d also like to use the projector in other situations, and the MoGo is super portable, has a built-in battery, and runs full Google TV, just like any smart TV. In my country it’s currently around 600€ on Amazon, so I’d get a 2-year warranty too. Not cheap, but I think it's worth it for the flexibility. I'm still thinking about it.

Sure! I’ve looked into a bunch of models lately, here’s a quick list by price range with my notes: $30–100 range: • MAGCUBIC HY300 – super cheap, OK for testing, but noisy and low resolution. • MAGCUBIC HY310X – native 1080p, surprisingly solid for the price. A great entry-level choice. $100–150 range: • TP350 NTV – native 1080p, Android 13, maybe built-in Google Cast. Great value. • Apeman LC650 – native 1080p, sealed optical engine, decent contrast. • Crenova XPE600 – quiet, bright, big screen support. • NexiGo PJ40 – native 1080p, WiFi/Bluetooth, 700 ANSI lumens, solid build. Higher-end (~$400–500): Right now I’m actually moving toward something a bit more premium like the XGIMI MoGo M4: • Native 1080p • Google TV built-in • Great Harman Kardon speakers • Auto focus & keystone • Battery-powered and ceiling-mount-friendly Definitely on the pricier side, but it checks all the boxes for me! I just returned one. It’s okay for the price but that fan is way too loud for me

It was called the Magcubic Mini and yes I’m very happy with it, still. Use it all the time!

I got something called a Magicubic Mini and it’s been great so far. I finally finished watching the Alien TV series on it this week. Granted the speaker in it isn’t great but I use headphones 80% of the time. It’s also not hugely bright unless you’re in a dark room, but again I am 90% of the time. It’s not going to replace my Epson downstairs in my home theatre but for watching shows in bed it’s amazing.

Yeah, foot of the bed. Works great! Get one like this that has keystone/corner pinning incase you need to adjust the geometry; the throw distance is pretty short so I could even put it on my bedside table and correct in software if I needed to. This is called the Magcubic Mini
