The Nexigo is your best bet out of those options if you're not looking for a projector with battery capabilities and it is pretty cheap rn at $750 CAD on sale. The Mogos have a gimbal stand which you may prefer depending on your set up and are smaller, but the Nexigo will have a better picture. You might also want to check out the Epson EF22 on the Epson refurbished site, currently going for $799 CAD if you really want a gimbal stand.
Imo portable is another tier aside from lifestyle. For lifestyle imo is the throw range, auto adjustment, built in smart os with speakers and h/v shift etc. It's for coffee table, shelf placement kind of projector. What you want is the likes of nexigo nova mini, which imo is not lifestyle but portable tier.
If rbe is a concern get the nexigo but imo should wait as supposedly the mk2 is coming soon.
The Nexigo Nova Mini I currently have is single laser and I don’t have any problems with it other than picture clarity which I don’t think is to great. The comment about the Nexigo Trivision Ultra being ‘less cinematic’ than the Valerion Streammaster Pro was from a thread in this reddit where someone ordered both to see which one he wanted to keep and that was one of the takeaways from his comparison
If mobility is priority then nexigo (1080p) if picture quality then jmgo (pixel shift 4k)
I have the nexigo and it’s great! Absolutely love it except for one issue. If you like to watch movies or shows with subtitles on and it’s a dark scene it will brighten the whole scene. If you don’t have the subtitles on the projector is perfect. but if I was to buy today I would go with the new xgimi just because it’s brighter, and has optical zoom for a similar price
If you are in a room with some ambient light, or even with white walls, Nexigo is better. If you are in a completely dark room, Hisense might be better.
If you don’t need extra brightness, Valerion is a better option than Nexigo. Just be aware you may have to choose the screen carefully for RGB laser projectors. But if your room has all-white ceilings, the black level may not differ too much. The extra brightness, almost doubled, could give you a better HDR/DV experience. XGIMI is great if you need more flexible position with its optical zoom and lens shift.
I have an Epson. I'd buy a Valerion (well, in my case, either a Nexigo or maybe the new AWOL - I like UST's). The Valerion Max can use an anamorphic lens, and there's a company/guy in Canada already designing one and taking pre-orders with a price range they're aiming for between $500 and $1000; Valerion has said that they'll provide anamorphic support in the software to properly stretch the image to get you 2.35:1 so that would make a superb home theater. Anamorphic for $5-6 grand is not the usual price point for real widescreen. Epson's price/performance is just not quite on point. They want stupid money for their stuff, prices that simply aren't warranted (the QB1000 for instance). Downside with anything Chinese like Valerion - the support experience may be... interesting. Anyway, these are in a cheaper category so I guess I rambled on for not much reason there, but the particular Epson pictured is not a unit I'd buy, leaving you with the Valerion, but there are other $1500-ish options for a lifestyle projector. Here's a recent video round up from The Hook Up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QqnfJ0-I_s The Epson is in there. It did not do well. Based on the video, you may want to look at the Xgimi Horizon 20.
Not sure if it helps or makes your comparison harder, but the Nexigo does drop to around $1399-1499 on sale. Maybe even the Valerion Plus or Plus 2 should merit consideration at that price point.
I’d go with the Valerion Pro over the base and Nexigo, for the contrast mostly. But I really enjoyed the Nexigo - seems like one of the best values, currently.
