r/projectorsRecommendation for Laser Projector?

I have both an optoma GT1090HDR and a BenQ LK936ST laser projectors.. both are short throw with less than 1 throw ratio... I like the picture on both.. of course they are bright high lumen units.. not sure what kind of room you are using.. if a fully dark room youd likely be a bit dissapointed with the blacks even in eco mode.. but if theres any ambient light, the cinema mode on the optoma with HDR on makes for a nice quality picture.. both of my laser units are pretty much instant on... theres always the short couple second logo display and the HDMI sync but then they come on bright and ready to go.. the ydefinitely arent cheap, and the short throw may not work for you.. the BenQ is 4K and super bright, I got it minky because i wanted a high resolution at 132" on a somewhat small room with quite a but of ambient light.. my use case is more casual TV / sports, and Business (I run them as computer monitors quite a bit).. the BIG Minus in my book for the GT1090 is the fact it has no optical zoom, so you have to place it exactly where you want your screen size, that said i still find it a solid projector for multi use.. its 1080P and not 4K, the BenQ is 4K and has zoom, as well as physical lens shift so you dont have to use keystone for mild V or H placement issues..

r/projectorsWhat is the best affordable projector with optical zoom and good sound?

ive Never found a projector that had a speaker worth anything.. some have audio out where you can use the Audio from the HDMI input and then plug it into an external soundsystem, other times just run the sound from another output (not Bluetooth!) on the source device directly to the sound system. you'll either wantto buy an Ultra Short throw projector and set it where you normally would a TV or a Short throw unit and set it closer to where you'll be seated.. the issue of course is fan noise for a projector that sits beside your seating or is hung directly above... I have both an optoma GT1090HDR (1080P laser) and a BenQ LK936ST(4K laser).. the BenQ wasnt cheap, however it has a nice feature in that it has mechanical image shift both H and V so you can adjust for slightly off-center placement and not have to use the Keystone features. the closer you sit to a Massive picture, then the more importabt higher resolution comes into play.. a 100" screen at 10 feet may look grainy or "window-screeny" at 1080P.. where a 4K image will look much clearer at that short seating distance.

I got the Optoma GT1090HDR short throw projecting to a 180” screen in a very dark garage. Four years in and I’m still very pleased with it: https://a.co/d/0ozPuuV

r/GolfsimulatorCould I fit a projector here?

I have a similar size set up. I went with a short throw projector, it was a used Optoma 1090 HDR. My enclosure is also 5 foot deep and the projector hangs just beyond that right in the middle. It is several feet in front of the hit strip so the swing is not an option, as the club pass way off to the left. I am planning to build some type of cage around it just in case someone sky's a ball into it. If you go to the projector central website you can put in the size of your room/enclosure as well as the model number of different projectors you are considering and it will show you where they need to be mounted in order to fill your screen. The Optoma I have has zoom etc. so I was able to get it to fill most of my screen even though my screen is an odd aspect ratio. I just got a cheap mount that hangs from the ceiling. https://preview.redd.it/dcphy8ken5yf1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cae76de544dd85982257dd0c2762f082288e9fd8

Went from 65” tv to a 106’ projector and love it never going back . Make sure you get a decent projector. At least 3000 lumens . Her is my set up with lights on in room at 100% optoma 1090 hdr short throw . https://preview.redd.it/qdg3l5vzz4ue1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e398910d2cdf21f9864f997354e9162bc2a9ad43

Yeah, buy everything off ebay man. Even the projector. Just get a laser short throw. Projector bulbs are very costly. Laser=never replace a bulb. 4k is super expensive. I went with optima. High quality and inexpensive relatively. It looks very good. I guess some things to look for are if it supports HDR 10. The light in your room going to make the picture. Ive also found that hanging photograph cloths behind the screen and net greatly enhanced the picture quality. And they were cheap on amazon.

Day or night? Assume night, the optoma laser series are very bright and not crazy price. I use one indoors, but room is pretty light during the day and image still good

r/hometheaterShould I swap my 120" projector for a 98" Mini LED TV

With Blackfriday looming im trying to make a similar decision. Again like you i have a dedicated theatre room with full control over light. I currently have an old 1080p Optama projector with a fixed 100" screen. I need to look at replace the projector but with mini-led 100" tvs dropping drastically im not sure which route to take. main use is movies as I have a sepwrat3 family room with an LG c3 65".

r/projectorsBest Home Projector To Buy in 2026? (Price, Quality, Brightness)

I have bought several used Projectors over the last few years, they work great for a while but always end up having bulb issues or fans issues and they overheat. Optomas are good to get used, easy to work on, but if you plan on using them in a theater setup, make sure they play nice with your receiver. I spent a lot of money on my set up, dropped 2500.00 on a Denon high end receiver ( used on inheritance money from grand parent that passed, only way i would ever be able to get something that high end.) Came across a good deal on a Optoma 1080 projector on FB Market place, think I paid like 80 bucks, it works great plugged into a streaming box like Apple TV, but when I plug it into my receiver, to get surround sound with the projector, the video will not come through and the receiver does not see the projector at all. So I use it as an outdoor projector for movie nights. I have a Benq HT1075 that a friend had that was overheating, paid like $200 for it, it works pretty good but has to be taken apart and cleaned every 6 months. I say all this to say you can find a good unit used, but be careful its like buying a used car, you don’t know if it was taken care of, and how much it was abused. It could turn into a money pit. I am waiting for UST laser projectors to become a little more affordable, then I will be will to drop 800 or so on one, and not have to worry about replacing a bulb at an inconvenient time for 150-200 bucks.

r/hometheaterWhat is this projector?

I have a 1080p Optoma projector in my HT. It is about 10 years old, so maybe due for an upgrade. For now, It gets the job done when it’s dark. But the image washes out quickly if a light is turned on and you can barely see anything. That’s why this caught my attention. With multiple strings of light bulb hanging, I could still see the display without any difficulty. I agree, this is not great but compared to the one I have at home currently the difference is night and day. What projector do you recommend from JVC?
