The HD142X is a decent entry level home theater projector. It's not a smart projector or anything like that, it's just a basic projector. Weak audio, no HDMI-ARC built in. 1080p only. But, it's decently bright and uses a reliable DLP chip inside of it. In good condition, it should last many more years. As is the case with all used projectors, it could be showing signs of its age. This can be very difficult to ascertain ahead of time. You want to either buy with a warranty, or test it before you buy it. Buying on blind faith that it is working well is bad practice.

Thanks! It’s an Optoma HD142X, got it for 120€ which is was an absolute steal i think EDIT: the lamp has been running for 1500h which is great! 1200h were made in eco mode lol so 300h in bright mode which is fantastic.

don’t buy the cheap chinese stuff, it’s basically e waste and will be effectively unusable after just two months of usage if you’re on a tight budget get a second hand one, best to check locally so that you can test them before buying got an Optoma HD142X for just 120$ that way and the image is absolutely stunning, compared to the chinese projectors EDIT: the cheap LCD panels that those projectors use are not made for the heat and light that the bulbs produce so it will burn out super quick

I have a 1080p Optoma projector in my HT. It is about 10 years old, so maybe due for an upgrade. For now, It gets the job done when it’s dark. But the image washes out quickly if a light is turned on and you can barely see anything. That’s why this caught my attention. With multiple strings of light bulb hanging, I could still see the display without any difficulty. I agree, this is not great but compared to the one I have at home currently the difference is night and day. What projector do you recommend from JVC?
