Not true "all DLP projectors have it" Seen any IMAX or Dolby movies lately? No RBE there. They use DLP. Rainbow effect is caused by single chip DLP (one chip for all colors) and the use of a Color wheel to split the light into RGB, or in Valarion's case an RGB laser that modulates between the 3 primary colors. The color wheel is the worst, and RGB laser light tends to be better, but still shows up in very dark scenes with super bright highlights, during fast motion. Now not all Epson projectors have no RBE, but what are you looking for if you don't want that is 3 Chip products. The home cinema Epson uses 3LCD panels. JVC projectors use D-Ila panels (again 3, 1 dedicated to each color) All theater projectors and high end home models will use DLP chips but have 3, 1 for each color and do not have any issues with RBE. DLP isn't the problem. That being said, I own an Epson 3800, BenQ tk850, Optima HD27, JVC-Nz700, and the Valiaron Pro2 and MAX (not yet released) I currently have been using the Pro2 for everything and absolutely love it. Yes it's worth it and best in its class.
Mám projektor a neměnil bych. Klidně se ptej co tě zajímá.

You are going to struggle with this. I can only comment on projectors I actually own so here goes. You may be able to find an Optoma HD Projector for £250 ( I picked up a HD28E New from Amazon Resale for £239 or you may find the end of line Nomvdic projector cone back in stock on Amazon L500 and P1000 for £99 and £299 respectively. You may need to rethink throw and adjust your set up for what's available in your price range. If you go the Nomvdic route please note the company doesn't exist anymore so the only support will be from Amazon.
I've got both 1080p and 4k Pixel Shift projectors. Epson TW9300, Nomvdic P1000, Acer V6280i and BenQ W2700 for 4k and Nomvdic L500 and Optoma HD28E for 1080p. My screens vary from 77" to 100" and viewing distance is 3.5m. For me the biggest issue with the 1080p projectors is the visible pixels (screen door) followed by the lower sharpness to the image. Id be looking at 4k if I was buying because that screen door can be distracting.
I've been looking at these cheaper Philips projectors. iMO they are just rebodied cheap single LCD projectors in a flashy coat and a Philips badge. You would be better off looking for a good used quality projector such as BenQ, Epson, Acer. If the op was close to me in the UK I could be tempted to sell either my Acer V6820 or my Optoma HD28E both with less than 100 hours...

I would go for a used well known projector. I bought a cheap Chinese $60 projector on Amazon and instantly returned for an older used Optoma HD27 which is waaaaayyy better, not even close. It cost me $120 and it's 10x brighter than any cheap projector and it's 1080p and can play 4k. I would see what Optoma or BenQ brands are available used, since they can be fixed later easily, where as the Chinese Amazon brands you just throw them away when something goes wrong.

It sounds like you understand the options and are happy with your choices. That's great! I'm not trying to convince you otherwise. I had a $700 Optoma projector as my living room screen for a long time and it was great. At the time a 65" inch TV was considered huge and cost thousands, and I was happy living with the tradeoffs for the immersive screen. Today, I'd rather not have to watch TV in a fully darkened room and 100in TVs are not only available but affordable, so the math has changed (for me). To each his own.
You cant know something you never had basically. But that projector, once it starts to get burn in, thats it... Ewaste. A proper projector (can find on ebay even as low as 300e) will have a bulb which is replaceable and last about 10k hours (depends on system) and the bulbs at least for me cost only 80euro. Colorwheels cost 5euro a pop. All very easy diy change out. My projector is now iirc 15years old. 1080p60hz, optoma, long throw, its on very often just like tv, i changed maybe 3 bulbs so far... Has gaming settings reduce latency etc. great colors and contrast. Never used a screen even for it. Any plain color wall worked better than any of the budget screens. Have repainted wall matt white now and it works very well instead of those budget screens.
With Blackfriday looming im trying to make a similar decision. Again like you i have a dedicated theatre room with full control over light. I currently have an old 1080p Optama projector with a fixed 100" screen. I need to look at replace the projector but with mini-led 100" tvs dropping drastically im not sure which route to take. main use is movies as I have a sepwrat3 family room with an LG c3 65".
I have bought several used Projectors over the last few years, they work great for a while but always end up having bulb issues or fans issues and they overheat. Optomas are good to get used, easy to work on, but if you plan on using them in a theater setup, make sure they play nice with your receiver. I spent a lot of money on my set up, dropped 2500.00 on a Denon high end receiver ( used on inheritance money from grand parent that passed, only way i would ever be able to get something that high end.) Came across a good deal on a Optoma 1080 projector on FB Market place, think I paid like 80 bucks, it works great plugged into a streaming box like Apple TV, but when I plug it into my receiver, to get surround sound with the projector, the video will not come through and the receiver does not see the projector at all. So I use it as an outdoor projector for movie nights. I have a Benq HT1075 that a friend had that was overheating, paid like $200 for it, it works pretty good but has to be taken apart and cleaned every 6 months. I say all this to say you can find a good unit used, but be careful its like buying a used car, you don’t know if it was taken care of, and how much it was abused. It could turn into a money pit. I am waiting for UST laser projectors to become a little more affordable, then I will be will to drop 800 or so on one, and not have to worry about replacing a bulb at an inconvenient time for 150-200 bucks.
I have a 1080p Optoma projector in my HT. It is about 10 years old, so maybe due for an upgrade. For now, It gets the job done when it’s dark. But the image washes out quickly if a light is turned on and you can barely see anything. That’s why this caught my attention. With multiple strings of light bulb hanging, I could still see the display without any difficulty. I agree, this is not great but compared to the one I have at home currently the difference is night and day. What projector do you recommend from JVC?
