Great picture/gaming, but RBE and no lens shift are dealbreakers.

I got a Freestyle 2 which I like I can move it in between rooms and can take it camping too
I bought a Freestyle 2nd Gen off eBay for a couple hundred bucks a couple months ago and haven’t regretted it even though this sub says not to touch it with a ten foot pole. I don’t want a projector to replace my TV, I wanted something inexpensive to take on trips or visiting family or to set up wherever, whenever. It fit the bill perfectly.
There's already a projector with these features built in, and one of the few I actually recommend.... go with the Samsung freestyle 2nd gen with gaming hub. The auto focus/frame, combined with built in apps out the box? Makes a lot of this incredibly easy. I have one, its been a beast.
They are not bad but dimmer than you expecting, maybe 300 ansi lumens max in usable picture modes, and contrast is low, 500:1 and below
I got the Samsung freestyle second gen on a cracking deal a couple of years ago and it's all I use. Works as a smart projector so you don't need to hook anything up just connect to WiFi. I also have a Chromecast connected to it for anything it can't in the dodgy streams. You can use the browser on it to get to them but that's a bit of pain without a keyboard and ad blockers. Works on a wall when watching by myself or when we are watching together we use the screen. It auto focuses and auto levels so it's great highly recommended and the speaker on it is quality for our small room.
Honestly, I dont understand the hate toward not having a full-size HDMI. This won't be used for home cinema, it is a consumer product that my GF is going to put next to her bed to play some movies late at night; a very casual product. Why do you need a full HDMI for anything here? Do we expect to use a less than $400 projector for 20 years, being concerned about the port not being durable? it is a technology product, in 5 years, a similar projector would be priced at $60! And this channel, although very respectable and has one of the best reviews for projectors I have seen, is comparing FS Gen 1 from 3 years ago, priced at $800, with others, which definitely don't make sense to buy. FS Gen 1 was simply not that good for that price range. Many things have changed, and although the Gen 2 specs are not a big improvement compared to Gen 1, the price tag is much lower. For example, Gen 1 was getting compared with BenQ GV50, and it couldn't stand its ground, but Gen 2 is close to half the price of BenQ GV50, and is now a pretty good option to consider. Not to mention that it has a lot of features that similarly priced alternatives don't which might be worthless for people like us that have all the other shit to daisy chain, but is a very useful addition to normal consumers.
