In my experience ease of setup and getting content onto the projector play a massive role in how often something gets used. have a Samsung freestyle mini projector which has the tv software built in so it’s basically a portable tv. It’s great because you just plug it in and point it at a wall and it does ok at adjusting to whatever angle you set it at (sometimes needs a little adjustment) - this means it can be set up and going in a couple of minutes. And you can load all of your normal apps in like Netflix and Amazon etc. and it remembers the WiFi when you turn it on. And the plug is usb c so you can use a phone or laptop charger. The picture won’t win any awards but it’s good enough and looks great in a dark room. The sound is actually pretty good for the size and fine on its own or you can connect a Bluetooth stereo
I I am not affiliated with anyone, but don't buy the Frrestyle one. I bought it when it first came out, and it sucks! Both on brightness as well as automatic keystone, but the worst is their slow OS. I wouldn't recommend it.
I have the 1st gen Freestyles and it's quite good as a tv replacement for my bedroom. As for gaming, you are limited to 60fps and it's not the brightest but I used it several times with my Steam Deck enjoying it. If you find an offer, why not
Don’t do the freestyle. Mine lasted 2.5 years before crapping out completely, and to fix anything on it costs more than the projector itself. Super not worth the price tag.
how is it with dust? does the dust noticeably affect the projected image? i noticed that a lot of projectors in this sort of shape tend to collect dust rlly easily starting from the corners within like the first week of usage. i had the samsung freestyle which has a similar shape to the xgimi vibe one and it collected so much dust in just a month that it became extremely irritating to watch anything on it 😭
Cinebeam Q,I bought it two months ago for 650€. I was just stunned with 4k picture quality and especially brightness in brightlit room.Only downside is no battery but the Picture ooo my god! If anyone wants to buy 1080 Chinese projector my recommendation is Wanbo cube 2 pro for 190€.Btw the worst projector currently on the market is Samsung Freestyle,I don’t know if Samsung studied market analysis but to release such a piece of crap on the market is beyond my comprehension.I returned Freestyle 2 day after purchasing.Basically for 1000€ you get 1080 projector with the worst picture and brightness I ever saw in that price range,Tyzen is crap, focus is crap, system is ultra laggy and brightness is beyond horrible.
No $500 Projector will be watchable in dim light. If you can have a completely dark room, Samsung Freestyle is your best bet and you can pick it up for $400 on Amazon. It might not be the best but it's cheap and reliable. Just get a Google TV Box and a USB C Hub and you're good to go.
I use a Samsung Freestyle projector and a 120" Amazon screen outside. I didn't need anything fancy
