If you have $10k to spend and want to put it towards something justifiably better, get the JVC laser. I have the Sony 5000ESvand the black levels and contrast are so much better than the projector I have in the basement (~$2kish Optoma). It’s a no brainer to get one of the new JVCs if cost is not an issue. But honestly if your screen size is as small as you’re saying, forget the projector flex and get a tv.

I’d get the Sony 5000es at 4-5k

get rid of that silly protection plan. The 5100es has a 3 year warranty, the svs has 5 years. Speakers in general won't give you any issues. Get something like an Epson 12000 or Sony 5000es. Both are cheaper and you'll likely be very satisfied with them. Saving money on the projector and removing the warranty, you could get a nicer subwoofer like the svs 3000 (or go with two!), name brand speakers, and a much better receiver. I'd really consider looking for a second quote.

It's a Sony VPL VW 500 ES. It's about 9 years old but still going very strong. Native 4K with HDR. Cost about £8000 at the time. The screen is a 2.35:1 motorised one fairy cheap from Amazon. Can't remember the brand.

I have the Sony 5000 and it lights up and a 140” screen no problem. You could consider it vs the 5001 and save a lot of money. Do you have to go with in-wall speakers? Depending on room size and how loud you like to listen, three bookshelf speakers across the front will sound great. Or two towers and a beefy center channel.

I went the open box route, got a 4K Sony and never looked back. Sony optics and picture processing are the best available and their projectors are true 3-chip systems and native 4k.

Epson will be brightest and average contrast and blacks. Sony will be less bright but better contrast. JVC is lowest brightness but incredible blacks and contrast. Pick what you prefer.
