r/projectorsWhat's the best projector or brand for home theater right now? What do you currently use or recommend?

How big is the screen you’re looking to fill. JVC makes great projectors but wasn’t bright enough for the size screen I doing, and went with Sony. There are DLP projectors on the market from Valerion that look quite exciting, but it depends if you are sensitive to the artifacts from DLP. I was in a theater a few days ago, and felt while the image was larger than i get at him, it was very similar quality to my Sony xw6000’s image on my high gain DIY screen, where I can project up to a 20 foot diagonal image (using the very low cost SLR Magic anamorphic lens)

r/projectors$5000 showdown: What is the best projector at the $5000 range?

I tested the JVC NP5 against a few different Sony projectors and found the Sony's to have sharper optics and better image processing. Black levels were not quite as good, but very close. If 3D is a factor - as it is for me - you can find a used XW6000 which supports 3d in a similar $5K price range though it will require an external 3d emitter, or you can get a VW715, which is 1800 lumens, lamp-based and has an onboard 3D emitter.

I went the open box route, got a 4K Sony and never looked back. Sony optics and picture processing are the best available and their projectors are true 3-chip systems and native 4k.

r/projectorsBest native 4k projector for 150"" screen under 3500$?

Open box JVC or Sony will be your best option at that price. They are both true native 4K with 3-chip light engines - so no rainbow effect or pixel shifting. Personally I prefer Sony for their optics and image processing. I actually kept my first Sony 4K in storage after upgrading. It was a demo unit which I got for under $3K.

I think the AVR and Projector screen are a little high depending on what they have picked out. Is it going to be a fixed screen or a drop down? Black ash subwoofer seems like its an SVS, so they are likely matching the in ceilings to match that quality. If you want it done for less, buy your own equipment, and have them install it or find another company that will. Sony makes a great 4k laser for about 5k so that will cut the cost dramatically

r/hometheaterShould I swap my 120" projector for a 98" Mini LED TV

God no!! Upgrade to one of the laser based 4k projectors! My fav is the Sony, but there are several to choose from. I think you’d be so disappointed losing that much screen! It’d feel like….. you know, A TV instead of a theater!
