"Love my Tea Pros, favorite set for gaming ... Tea Pros are unbelievable value for gaming. ... I mostly play Hunt: Showdown and they do almost feel like cheating in some compounds. ... The sense of space is immaculate, both distance and directionality is about as good as it gets for gaming. ... The Tea Pros do a better job of establishing space around you so I will continue to use the Tea Pros for gaming."

"I could pinpoint footsteps with such ease, which I couldn't even do with my headset!"

"For gaming the Tea Pros so far are a 10/10, I play mostly Hunt: Showdown and the additional separation, staging, and tighter but punchy bass were all noticeably better for my ears."

"My top picks are the Pilgrim and Studio 4, the best for technical performancers up to $700-800"

"the 3LCD technology is completely free of the rainbow effect (as it turned out, I'm super sensitive to RBE: I got a headache after watching a show on the Hisense C1...)"

"But for actual viewing movies, gaming, sims. Epson’s image quality often just looks better overall."

"Everything looks spectacular in 4K Dolby Vision/3D 110 inch screen"

"I m impressed by the color mapping, brightness ,contrast and sharpness, its super sharp even if its currently keystoned to hell while i m waiting for some brackets."

"In any case the Valerion with the black levels and tone mapping comes out ahead. ... Valerians secret sauce is the software which to this point has not been matched. ... The software which is the real secret sauce is done by Valerian ie: Tonemapping and EBL. You do know that right? That is the difference and it's big."

"They are beasts of light output and have exceptional contrast."

"The internal speakers are surprisingly good. ... It worked for sure, and was very comfortable for watching content ... I wouldn’t feel the need to rush into buying an audio solution right away after getting your projector if you go with a Valerion."

"built in speakers are amazing"

"the monitor can't do VRR whatsoever."

"The ls12000 has HDMI 2.1 and does 4k HDR @120Hz but doesn't support vrr. ... I just wish it had vrr."

"I have an ls12000 primarily for gaming and while it is awesome, it lacks vrr. ... I would avoid it for long term gaming."

"the DLP high frequency flicker gave me a headache after a while. ... the combined effect of each step can be perceived, even if not consciously and causes eye fatigue or headaches for some people. Unfortunately myself included."

"The first projector I ever bought was a Benq ht2050a and it was also the first time I learned I was sensitive to the rainbow effect with DLP. ... Once you see it with DLP it will drive you crazy. ... A dark scene with a flash of white anywhere on the screen and I could see a rainbow inside the white briefly due to the spinning color wheel inside the projector. ... After I looked it up and realized what I was seeing, I would be distracted with anything I watched looking out for it."

"Any of these not have RBE? I have the Valerion and the RBE is very pronounced. ... I seem to be very sensitive to RBE so for me it's bad, like unwatchable bad on some media."

"The LS12000 has over 2x the native contrast of the Valerion. ... The native is not meaningless, that's silly. Native CR is the foundation of the entire image capability. Dynamic CR doesn’t always work or help and it can also cause artifacts and issues like clipping and brightness jumps. Some scenes it improves greatly, some only a small amount, and some not at all. It all depends on the composition of the particular scene. Native still always limits simultaneous on screen contrast for an given image. ... There are scenes that look better on the LS12000 due to the noticeably higher native CR."

"I purchased the C2 and returned it due to a large amount of laser speckle and DLP rainbow effect."

"however at 14 feet the screen is closer to 150 inches and it has to use digital zoom etc to fit the screen but aren't we losing quality this way?? ... If you move it to 14 feet and use digital zoom to have the 120" the projector is less bright and will have less contrast because the further away it is the further th laser needs to cast"

They are excellent, there is no real competition in terms of quality/price ratio except maybe the Nebula X1. However they are not perfect: they’re subject to speckle and RBE. You’ll need a matte white screen  for the speckle. If you want to avoid RBE there is only Epson, all DLP projectors have it.

Valerion Plus is decent, or a used LG CineBeam. The problem is partly that bulb 💡 projectors are essentially at the end of the road. Laser projectors have a longer life and cheaper maintenance but cost more upfront. Cheap projectors use LCDs which lower brightness. To make a cheap projector fancier they have to keep adding gimmicks until the price bracket includes laser. Also keep in mind inflation means your $1k from 10 years ago would be ~$1400 now

I tried the Valerion Plus 2 and found it too dim. I then tried the Hisense C2 Ultra and found it just right for my 120 inch screen.

The Plus2 and Plus are within budget and honestly still worth considering if the 1.2:1 throw works for their set-up. All the software perks of the Pro2, just no optical zoom and not quite as bright. A lot of people run the Pro2 at laser level <6 as well because it's just too bright for their space which is good for longevity but bad for colour shifting while using dynamic laser dimming, actually Valerion disabled dynamic laser dimming when the user is using less than laser level 6.

That’s gonna be so sweet. I’d say keep the screen, grab a nicer projector, and enjoy the big screen experience. The Valerion is considered a steal right now, but if you wanna keep the price sub 1000, the benq HT2060 does NOT disappoint. Obviously no projector is going to have the black levels of an OLED, but imo the much larger theatrical screen of a projector makes it so worth it. You have the space, you’re planning on controlling the light with black paint anyway, you might as well make the most of that space and keep the projector setup.

Ignore those deluded Valerion fans. Tbf if you only consume non subtitle dark content then maybe Valerion ebl will be the better choice for you. Assuming you're not sensitive to rbe, under $3k the best is dangbei s7 ultra max, then it's a tossed up between xgimi horizon 20 max and nebula x1. For ust, nexigo ap mk2 is better than valerion and has no rbe / speckle issue too.

Fyi there's a downside to low fan volume, the likes of Valerion get the low fan noise via limiting the fan (1600 rpm instead of 2500 rpm) and instead throttle the laser (can drop 30-40% kind). Some of their users are resorting to adding an extra fan / modding a replacement to reduce the throttling. So it depends which you prefer, as higher fan noise can be distracting too.

The color drift so it's not stable, affects the white balance and it may get dimmer.

If you don’t need extra brightness, Valerion is a better option than Nexigo. Just be aware you may have to choose the screen carefully for RGB laser projectors. But if your room has all-white ceilings, the black level may not differ too much. The extra brightness, almost doubled, could give you a better HDR/DV experience. XGIMI is great if you need more flexible position with its optical zoom and lens shift.

Since I really like UST projectors I'd have said "Nexigo Aurora Pro MK II" - $3 grand + $1 grand for an UST specific ALR screen, but with the ceiling mount and screen already there I guess that's out. Although not necessarily, still; it's still $4 grand and you could just dismount that screen and remove the ceiling mount. For long throw the Valerion projectors are hard to look past at this price point, they're embarrassing more established brands right now. However, I'd still replace the screen with Valerion's long throw Fresnel ALR screen. Also, what is that, a screen for mice? 100 inches in that space? Get a 150 and drop it low. This screen is mounted too high anyway.
