I was trying to decide the same thing. Ended up going with the Valerion VisionPro2 as it had great reviews and checked all the boxes. No regrets so far!

So the reality starts to become clear. Surprise! surprise! It is no breakthrough or a space disruptor. It is still a very good projector (but so are other similar e.g. Hisense, Leica, Formovie and Nexigo Aurora) and is a good choice for the early bird price but not so for the regular price. The much hyped by influencer feature - EBL is rather a disappointment and better kept off. The native contrast is about 1:1600 and not what Valerion claimed. Multiple serious reviews are out there reporting the same thing. So, in a nutshell, don't trust influencers (be it hookup or projector junkies or whomever), don't fall for the extreme hype and fomo created by such companies (they pay even for a written review on AVS forum) and lastly it's a good projector but not a breakthrough.

I have the Valerion Pro2 you’re looking at. There’s no tv on the market that can compare to the 141” 2.4:1 picture with my 9.2.6 Atmos rig. My screen is acoustically transparent, so my 9 speakers at ear level are all identical, which gives a seamless audio sound field. As for wiring chaos, I have three wires going to my projector from the closet where my rack is. The power cable is an extension with the power supply in the closet. The other two are Ethernet and HDMI. All are neatly tucked inside the mount, so it’s very clean.

I have a Pro2. Materials help with laser speckle, but not rainbow. I'm sensitive to rainbow, but my wife isn't. I see it, but am not really bothered too much. In a really high contrast scene (where it's really evident), I try not to dart my eyes across the screen. A positive gain screen might show laser speckle. My screen is a woven AT 0.8 gain. I don't see speckle at all. That said, I love my Pro2, even though the firmware, even with the current update, doesn't seem finished yet. Picture quality is outstanding in my completely light controlled room. You might think of darkening the walls and ceiling of your new room. That'll give you the biggest increase in contrast regardless of the projector you ultimately choose. I've got black fabric walls and ceiling.

Intersting review. I'm sure it's a great projector, but the pricing is wack for a unit that's a minimal upgrade on the LS12000. If I weren't so into UST's now I'd rather buy a Valerion Max tbh. And I would, based on that unit alone, dispute that there's nothing comparable in the price range, on paper all the stats of the Visionmaster Max dropkicks the QB1000 into a well, "300" and "this is Sparta!" style. Half the price, four times the contrast (according to them - but the Visionmaster Pro 2 almost lived up to their claims).

They should not be this close. I don't have a monitor capable to watch this properly. It seems like the blacks are better on the JVC, but even still, they are not amazing (for $16k). It would have been worthwhile to show us some comparisons using a colorimeter or spectrophotometer. The Valerion held its own, at least on color reproduction. It did seem like the Valerion was sharper. Both handled the fast moving scenes quite well.

Yo, with a $5K budget, you're in a really good spot for a solid home theater setup. consider the Valerion Pro 2, it's a beast for the price if you're going for a cinema-like experience at home. you’re not just buying specs you’re buying the full experience. So if you're gonna watch movies regularly or game hard, quality wins every time.

you’re not gonna hear this from probably anyone, but the Nexigo Trivision Ultra is absolutely the best of both worlds. Down to 4 ms response at 240 hz at 1080, 2600 iso lumens, beautiful 4k pixel shifting and it’s easy to set up. If you wanted to really kill it for gaming, Nexigo showed off the Trivision mk2 at CES25. They advertise it will release end of 25 and boast a grand sub 1 millisecond response rate, 4k lumens. Genuinely a fantastic projector, and only 1500 on sale on amazon. Only thing to make sure is that you don’t keystone it, as it will lower the input lag (that’s general knowledge of any projector) except the Valerion Visionmaster or any others that do optical zoom. Which leads me to my next point. If you have the 2500/3000, the Valerion Visionmaster pro 2 is the single best sub 5k dollar projector on the market. It has EBL (Enhanced Black Level) Tech that makes dark scenes insanely vibrant without shifting colors blue or green. 4k 120 hz gaming with 4 ms response.

Absolutely love our Pro2s. They are beasts of light output and have exceptional contrast. Amazing cinema experience and gaming is very nice. Yeah you’re limited to 60hz 4K but it’s rare to get games much over that at 4K and good settings these days anyways. I know the c2 ultra is also good for gaming and has comparable cinema performance, but its software leaves a little to be desired for me.

I’d save up and get either a highsense c2 ultra, or a valerian pro 2. The valerian being more expensive but has slightly lower input lag and is GoogleTV based, while the highsense has a custom OS. Both have similar picture quality and solid reviews for gaming. I love my Valerion and may buy a C2 for the bedroom. So really can’t go wrong with either!

Absolutely love my Valerion Pro 2, which is closer to the 3K range but the lower models are supposed to be equally stunning and all models are currently on sale. (I actually just bought a second). I’d also be looking at the highsense C2 Ultra, again little over 2K but there will be sales.

Valerion will offer great 4k/60hz gaming experience with good colors and contrast. But if you want to get 4k/120hz then it's either Epson or JVC/Sony and those will be above 4-5k if new and slightly lower if used. I would probably get Valerion unless you 100% need 120hz and have spare cash to burn.

The JVC hits 85% P3 without the color filter, brightness drops even more with it just to achieve full P3. The Valerion hits it's comparable calibrated brightness at 99% BT2020. In that aspect the JVC is an absolute joke. Sure blacks and contrast are still great, but in typical viewing the Valerion has blacks that are far from distracting with good DTM. The tables are turning. JVC, Sony, and Epson need to start doing something besides being 10% brighter than last gen to be competitive. Dealers will make sure they have the high end market foothold though. Sales will remain there, but the products themselves will no longer be competitive.

Gotta love the detractors who can't see the Forrest from the Tree's. A 2k projector that goes blow for blow with a 16k projector and in some scenes it's clearly better. The Tone Mapping that I have mentioned in previous thread is a game changer along with the EBL and whatever algorithm they are using. It's astounding that some people can't see this for what it is. Projector dealers are about to start punching the sky

I want to see one, may have a chance soon. I also had an HK2288, I took a risk on a $1499 Valerion Pro 2 and have been very happy with it, it's certainly not JVC level of contrast but it's an overall upgrade from the HK2288. The NZ500 being literally 6x what I paid for the HK2288 makes it a bit of a hard pill to swallow especially with the motion of LCoS, maybe if it was in the $3-4k range.

I've had my BenQ HT2150ST 1080P for 7 years, finished up construction of the HT room and decided to upgrade to something compatible with 4k and laser. Tired of worrying about bulb usage and replacment. After watching this YT video I got both the Nexigo Trivision Ultra and Valerion Pro 2 for a side by side comparison. The Valerion is amazing, on a 120" is amazing. Text is sharp and crisp and the contrast ration on this makes it look like a giant tv. Of course if your concerned about budget the Nexigo for half the price is a good value. I'd recommend ordering a few on the top of your list and compare and keep the one that suits you. I decided on the Pro 2, it was worth the extra $. https://youtu.be/ClIboELoz74

Personally, as a guy who is nearing the finish line on my “theater” I’ll share the following thoughts. I looked hard at the epson, but the valerion pro 2 won out for me for multiple reasons. Though I ordered off Amazon and am considering returning it to wait for the max. Coming from an 83” oled to a 135” has been worth the trade on contrast but the valerion looks fantastic with ebl. I moved up from my old maranta receiver sr5011 to an arcam avr21 that comes with Dirac room correction. Speaker wise, go test a few out and find a sound you like. Then go online and look for a competitive price. I think I spent more time in the speaker hole than anywhere. I ended up up just going full blown Martin Logan everything because I loved their sound and laid $4k brand new for the f200’s with no regrets. This may not be popular, but I paid $20 bucks for the upgraded ChatGPT to help me organize thoughts, reviews, find used/new pricing, build cost comparison spreadsheets. Totally worth it. Best of luck to you on your adventure

I was wondering the same and took the risk to back it and went for the VisionMaster Pro 2. I thought these were limited to 500 units, but now you can see the Pro 2 has 865 backers (as of November 18th) and it says 55 out of 920 left. The number of available units seems to change dynamically. I thought this was a bit strange. Any insights on that?

Sony XW7000ES: 10/10 2. JMGO N3 Ultra Max: 8/10 3. Valerion Pro 2: 7/10 **Colors:** 1. JMGO N3 Ultra Max: 10/10 2. Sony XW7000ES: 8/10 3. Valerion Pro 2: 8/10 **Contrast and black level:** 1. Valerion Pro 2: 9/10 (Update 1: 7/10) 2. Sony XW7000ES: 8/10 (Update 1: 9/10) 3. JMGO N3 Ultra Max: 6/10 **Sharpness:** 1. Sony XW7000ES: 10/10 2. Valerion Pro 2: 8/10 3. JMGO N3 Ultra Max: 7/10 **Motion:** 1. JMGO N3 Ultra Max: 10/10 2. Valerion Pro 2: 9/10 3. Sony XW7000ES: 9/10 **Laser Specle with Grey Silver Ticket Screen for testing (10 is best and 0 very bad):** 1. Sony XW7000ES: 10/10 2. Valerion Pro 2: 8/10 3. JMGO N3 Ultra Max: 6/10 **Overall (The one takes this room):** Sony XW7000ES easily the choice. I understand how great Valerion is for the price and no questionable its best value here, JMGO on paper seemed really strong but in person apart of amazing colors and motion it had issues. Sony just feels like you are working with near perfection levels, I just wish it had lower black level, for me Valerion felt deeper in blacks but the difference in Brightness is very noticeable to the point it makes the contrast feels superior in the Sony projector. I actually thought Valerion can win this due to Dynamic Tone Mapping and contrast, but its not even close to Sony in terms of overall visual experience. Some credit also goes to JMGO I dont even need a measurement tool to tell me the colors are best here, it just looks so good, it pops while being natural. The motion is best I have seen in any screen so far. **Note:** if some rating felt harsh its not becuase its bad but because the best one is far ahead. **Update 1:** I revisted both once again, Im not sure what or why but Sony now have much better black level than before, maybe I missed up with mode before. I cant figure out who have lower black level but I can say Sony majority of times lower black levels than Valerion, with Valerion EBL changes black levels alot for me, so sometimes you do get very dark but as something bright comes into screen you notice black levels get raised, while Sony stays constant. Overall Contrast Sony easily wins now.

So I’ve been living with the Hisense L9G for a good while now probably around a year and a bit. It was my first real dip into the world of ultra-short throw projectors, and honestly? It didn’t disappoint. Bright as hell, Dolby Vision looked super clean, and paired with the ALR screen, it absolutely slapped in daytime. But here’s the thing, I rent. And if you’ve ever tried to move with a 120" ALR screen, you know the pain. That thing’s a beast. Just thinking about taking it down and setting it up again in a new place gives me stress. So that’s what started me looking around for alternatives. I saw some solid reviews pop up projector junkies and the hook up had some nice things to say abt Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2. I though to give it a try. First inpression: no cheap plastic feel or weird design choices. Setup was way easier than the L9G no ALR screen needed. I just fired it up onto a decent wall, mostly watching stuff at night, and I’ve gotta say, it looks damn good. The black levels are better than the L9G for sure, dark scenes really pop. There’s some tech they call enhanced black level at play. It’s not perfect though I’ve noticed a bit of color shift when scenes change, but honestly, nothing major. Now in terms of brightness, the L9G still takes the crown, especially if you're trying to use it during the day. Valerion isn’t quite as punchy, prob around 85-90% of L9G’s output when calibrated but it leans into that more cinematic, movie-theater-at-home vibe. Less bright, more mood. Software-wise, both are fine. Hisense definitely feels more polished, especially with the official Netflix support. Valerion’s got some neat tricks though AI upscaling, MEMC for smooth motion, that kind of stuff. So yeah, after using both, here’s where I’m at: If you want something rock-solid, fully certified, and don’t mind committing to an ALR screen setup, the L9G is a great buy. But if you’re like me renting, need portability, mostly watch at night, and want something a bit more flexible Valerion’s honestly been a nice surprise. It’s not perfect, but for movies, it absolutely holds its own. so anyone else here made the same switch? Or are you sticking with the Hisense and just learning to live with the giant screen life?

I’ve been using the visionmaster Pro2 for a while now, when I was picking mine, I wanted something that wouldn’t die on me in a year or turn my movie nights into troubleshooting sessions. in terms of brightness, It holds up great in dim rooms, but like most projectors, it’s not a miracle worker in broad daylight. That said, it’s definitely brighter than a lot of others in this range, so if you’ve got some light control, you’ll be fine. and abt durability; i've been using it for a month and I haven’t had to mess with any repairs. The best part? LED light source. That means no stressing over lamp replacements every few months it’s built to last way longer than traditional lamp-based models. If you’re considering alternatives, Epson and BenQ are solid picks, but keep in mind that many of their models at this price point still use traditional lamps. If easy maintenance is high on your list, I’d definitely recommend going LED or laser over standard lamps. hope that helps.

Valerion Pro2 is amazing. It's been as much of a step up from my old 4K projector (Optima UHD51A) as that was from a 1080P projector. Amazing game response times, can play things like pinball or FPS games perfectly now on the big screen. As for movies they look 99% as good as they do on my LG OLED in terms of contrast black levels, but I think the colours on the Valerion actually surpass the LG, at least out of the box. This is all on a wall-mounted matte white screen btw, nothing fancy. On top of that it's quick to fire up and I find the interface nice and simple, the automatic setup is great at fitting the pic to your projection surface, barely need to tweak anything after. I can also speak of their customer service as I received a very early, unfortunately faulty unit, and they were brilliant at responding and resolving everything. Overall couldn't be happier with the Valerion and can't really imagine what it could do better.

I don’t have any experience with the Hisense so I can only speak about the Valerion. It’s super bright and the colors pop, which I think is pretty common with DLPs. The black levels are pretty damn good. It’s not the inky blacks that my LG OLED produces but honestly it’s good enough for me and the huge image it produces more than makes up for it. I’m using it in a room that is not light controlled and my setup is far from optimal but it looks fantastic. It runs super quiet and the build quality and design is impressive. I feel like if Apple made a projector it would be something like this (just in terms of material and attention to detail). No major downsides so far. 3D has been okay, nothing mind blowing. Lack of vertical lens shift isn’t great but I knew that going in. Even though it has built-in Google OS, I feel like my ONN dongle works better for consuming content. Overall I’m really happy with the purchase. Only slight regret is that maybe I should have waited for the Max but I’m too impatient for that.
