The 20 pro would be an upgrade in terms of brightness, it does not have 2200 ANSI lumens as someone sugested. I replaced my Epson eh-tw9300 ( us model 5040ub ) 2400 ANSI lumens with the horizon 20 pro and in terms of brightness it mops the floor with the epson. The horizon 20 pro has 10 levels of brightnes and a luminance boost mode and even on lv 1 it was alrady brighter then the Epson. For now I use level 3-5 with lights on and have a good picture. What you luse is the black floor. Also using a alr screen helps a bit 😁
You might want to wait a while to see if the reduce the price again. I got the pro version in November for £1,529.00
Xgimi 20 pro works well in bright room
I'm rather new to projectors but I got myself a Xgimi Horizon 20 pro last week and so far it's been amazing . Can't promise it'll keep being amazing forever but I'm mostly in tbe same conditions as you . Projecting on a 120" screen and sitting with my eyes 2.8 meters from the screen so 6.5 feet away looks perfect . At 13 feet you might want an even larger picture if you can manage/afford . I'm in a completely dark room when using it and the 4200 lumens (in reality a bit less than that in regular mode) feels more than bright enough (sometimes getting flashbanged with sdr content) . Perhaps if you specifically want to watch 3d movies you might opt for the even brighter max since content will appear half as bright when each eye only sees half the picture .
I'm a beginner when it comes to projector but my Xgimi horizon 20 pro is doing wonders for me . I did some tests with photoshop and some 4k images in which I try and see the at which scales patterns become distinguishable and pixel shift 4k is basically indistinguishable from "real" 4k to me . When watching a movie , it is capable of reproducing the grain of the picture and the micro-contrasts wonderfully . For an image size under 100" you can probably opt for the base version (only difference is the lens and luminosity , 3200 lumens ISOfor base , 4100 for pro and 5700 max , in practice about 15% less for regular use) which costs under 1600$ . I'd say the market has definitely evolved toward affordability , I don't think 4k 3000+ lumens were even under 3k 5 years ago .
I missed the part you wrote about the size of the screen. Like others are saying, I’d go with the pro or max for a screen that’s 150” or larger — if you’ve got the budget, that is. From what I’ve seen, those models seem to have a crisper image, which will be needed for a screen that big.
Dunno about JVC. I'm using "XGIMI horizon 20 pro" and its capable of 1080p 120hz or 4k 60hz. If i'm not miss remembering their bigger versions "XGIMI horizon 20 MAX" is capable of 4k 120hz, but don't quote me on that. Eitherway, both have "Gaming mode" that you can enable, which removes all input latency in exchange for some picture quality. It doesn't feel any different from using a normal gaming monitor, when it comes to the latency that is.
If were talking gaming its fine i guess, tho 1080P on a 100" screen doesn't look the best. I would personally want something with higher hz \^\^ But i didn't buy it for gaming, bought it for my home cinema room. Its just temporarely used as my one and only gaming monitor untill i finish my gaming room x)
I am connected to my PC, and it is capped at 120hz at 1080P, it doesn't go to 240hz. Ive tried swapping modes on/off, but it still doesnt go above 120hz.
On my XGIMI horizon 20 pro, with game mode on there is no input lag, but you become limited to 4k 60hz or 1080p 120hz. Turning on gaming mode also lowers the img quality tho.
I have the 20 pro and i absolutely love it. If u are looking at 100" or bigger then a projector is the cheapest option.
I only bought it for movies, but i am currently gaming on it because i am fixing my gaming room so sh1t is not setup in there \^\^. It works if ur fine with 1080p quality, otherwise ur locked to 60 fps.
I have no idea whats qualified as abudget projector :X Personally i bought XGIMI horizon 20 pro, and i absolutely love it, It has a higher tier but thats 2x the price.
Depends on budget & size. Anything above 75" a projector is way cheaper compared to a tv of same size&quality. This might differ a bit depending on where you live tho i suppose. Personally i went with an "XGIMI Horizon 20 pro" because i couldn't afford thier Max version. But i am thrilled with it so far, no complaints. Easy to setup, easy to adjust, good light, I wanna say good blacks too but its tough without side by side comparison to something else.
Not sure how their older series is, i've got the "xgimi horizon 20 pro" and i absolutely love it, only drawback with that would be no 4k gaming above 60hz. But yea idk what the difference between the 20 series and this is.
THANK YOU It's like everyone in this sub gets money from affiliate links trying to sell that horizon projector. ( I know some actually do) I own one and the RBE is insane.
XGimi Horizon 20 pro seems as good if not better than the Valerion Pro 2 (if EBL is not a deal breaker).
I recently went through this. I’ll list the projectors I tried and my final choice at the end. JVC didn’t make my list at all because I occasionally game and the input lag was higher than I wanted. Xgimi Horizon 20 Pro- nice picture but some of the worst RBE I’ve ever seen. Epson w4100i- very nice projector, but I found out I just cannot do DLP. RBE was significantly less noticeable than the Xgimi and mostly tolerable, but I decided to go a different direction. Some odd, unpredictable software hiccups probably could have been figured out, but were a little too common for comfort. Sony 5000es - probably the best SDR picture of the bunch but was an absolute nightmare with any HDR content. Probably could have figured out something with a HTPC and MadVR, but it wasn’t worth it and did not feel “future-proof”. Really don’t understand the horrible HDR tone mapping compared to the beautiful SDR picture. So I ended up with the Epson LS12000. Not the last word in resolution or black levels, but perfectly acceptable in both. I do not notice the pixel shifting compared to the native Sony, on a 150” white screen from 15 ft away. Good HDR mapping, can get very good with some tweaking. Extra bonuses like a motorized lens for easy setup, motorized lens cover to keep dust off the lens, very bright, and super quiet fan, especially at 75% light and below which is still very usable because it is so bright. Can’t really think of anything else. It took a long time and a lot of testing but I am very happy with the decision.
