Got the laser variant and it rocks so far
Man, I gamed for a few hours on it first time I set it up and didn't notice anything like that. However my use case for this thing is for my camper van and camping so I am likely not as particular as I would be for home use. The low latency sure is nice though eh?
I got my N1S 4k yesterday from amazon for $748. Itās the best value for your money and I was blown away by the image quality and how bright and deeper the contrast is. I was coming from xgimi mogo 4 laser and the difference is night and day. The only thing I will miss are optical zoom and image shift from xgimi. Im using it now as my daily driver while awaiting for my Awol Aetherion Max.
Iāve been using the XGIMI MoGo 4 Laser Portable Projector for a small home setup and itās surprisingly solid for a 4āÆK laser unit. It pushes about 4āÆ000 lumens, handles a 150āinch screen nicely in a dimābutānotācompletelyādark room, and runs on WiāFiāÆ6 so you can stream straight from your phone. The price is around $599.99, which is a lot less than the bigābox laser beasts but still packs a good HDR punch. If you want a sleek, portable option that wonāt break the bank, give it a look.
I ended up loving the XGIMI MoGoāÆ4āÆLaser Portable Projector for tight spaces. Itās about $599.99, puts out ~4āÆ000 lumens, and the laser gives a solid 4āÆK image without needing a pricey ceiling mount. The box is ~9āÆin tall, so it fits nicely on a floating shelf, and the power brick hangs off the back without adding much depth. Iāve used it for Netflix and light gaming and the latency feels fine for casual play. If you need a compact 4āÆK option under $2āÆ000āÆCAD, give this one a look.
i was in the same boat looking for a compact 4k setup for a tiny living room. ended up with the xgimi mogo 4 laser portable projector ā it fits on a small table, throws a 100ā120" image from about 2ft, and the brightness is solid for a room that isnāt pitch black. price is about $599.99, which is a sweet spot for the quality you get. it also has builtāin Android so you donāt need an extra box. fwiw itās a bit pricier than a basic pico projector but the image clarity is worth it.
Hello, you can grab basicly every projector with a 40 inch screen. I'm using a xgimi mogo 4 right now (the basemodel) for on the go and its plenty bright for that screen size. if you want to to save a bit of money, you could choose the mogo 2; but that doesn't feature netflix. so for me it would be mogo 3 or 4. both are vaild options.
(please notice that * This was an answer to this thread: [https://www.reddit.com/r/projectors/comments/1qbia6l/projector\_help\_needed/](https://www.reddit.com/r/projectors/comments/1qbia6l/projector_help_needed/) * for some reason I couldn't answer to it, so i copied the text) * I'm german and while i typed this in english, i let chat gpt have a look at it correct some spelling errors. but its my true story) Hello, Iām 38 years old and I started with an Epson. I donāt know if anyone still remembers the model, but it was an Epson EH-TW480. According to my Amazon account, I ordered it on August 16th, 2012 [the epson](https://preview.redd.it/duokb91rpddg1.jpg?width=4608&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=63f3a76f34c3a16fecf7c0ace741b5580ab69dc2) I had it for years before switching to a BenQ projectorāsome 1080p projector with 5,000 ANSI lumens. It was the brightest projector I ever owned. That was around 2018ā2019. So I spent about 7 years with traditional projectors. And then everything changed. The start of my post actually wasnāt correct, because when I really think about it, my very first projector was a tiny ā¬150 projector from eBay. I think it was HP. It was terrible. I returned it asap and then went with the Epson. In 2019 (or 2020, Iām not sure), I found out about the XGIMI Halo. Around that time, XGIMI released this ad: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UahPcS07sTU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UahPcS07sTU) And yes, itās an adābut it summed up perfectly what the Halo changed for me: a smart system, ease of use, and great specs. (That said, the evolution with the Halo+ was needed, and it was the best thing that ever happened to the Halo.) Before the Halo+, I had a PC in my setup, and later I added a Xiaomi TV box. But the PC was still there for games. The Halo+ made all of that unnecessary. [From the epson](https://preview.redd.it/mf6zaritpddg1.jpg?width=4608&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5f60b6b189325f56a18a7a14592e552caa156b37) The tricky part is brightness: the Halo+ is about as far away from 5,000 ANSI lumens as we are from the moon. But it only took me a few days to realize that the device itself was way more useful than the 5,000 ANSI lumen projector. I used it a lot more, and I used it better than the BenQ before. [i seemigly did have another compact projector before gimbal projectors.](https://preview.redd.it/zp0picrtqddg1.jpg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=be8a770ba7889dfe05f3dfed0f4225b4797cc090) Iām not a āperfect cinemaā expertāand neither is my girlfriend. She learned a lot about projectors from knowing me, and sheāll never be able to watch at home on a 65-inch screen again. While people here will tell you about black levels and all that stuff, at some point the ease of use just takes over. These days Iām rocking a XGIMI Horizon 20 Max with all those nice features like lens shift and optical zoom. But Iām not owning it because of that. I donāt really use those features at all, to be honest. Iām now back at around 5,700 ISO lumens, and I couldnāt be happier. For me, thereās no going back. Some brands, like ViewSonic (not sure if thatās a German thing), tried Android/Google TV but failed. BenQ did too. Regular brands areāin my viewāonly playing catch-up with XGIMI, JMGO, and more recently Dangbei. Since the release of the Aura, weāve been using an Aura, and since last year weāve been using an Aura 2. The Horizon is in our bedroom. The only area where I went with another company was travel: JMGO changed the game with the ready-to-take-with-you JMGO N1. It comes in a case, which is super handyāexcept when it opens by itself. Theyāve revised the design by now, so it canāt happen anymore. Still, I think XGIMI saw that concept and thought, āWe can do thatābut make it even better,ā and brought the XGIMI MoGo 4 Laser Outdoor Set to life. It combines a laser projector (there are plenty of discussions about its ups and downs on Facebook, and I donāt want to sugarcoat anything), a tripod, and a screen. For me, thatās the perfect travel bag. I donāt use the MoGo 4 in my normal life, but when weāre on a ski trip, I always take it with me. There is just no other company that thought of a bag that includes everything: the projector and the whole projection setup. Iāve said it before and Iāll say it again: they should make a 100-inchāor better, 120-inchāversion of that screen. Keep the design, just make it bigger. Thatās all thatās needed to make it even better. All in all: companies like XGIMI and JMGO shaped the projector market into what it is today. I wouldnāt even count Hisense in the same category, because theyāve been in the TV/projector market for a long time, and they arenāt really like XGIMI, JMGO, and Dangbei (at least in my view). I also tested a Valerion VisionMaster 2 Pro, and thatās a solid device tooāand it keeps the spirit of the product experience weāre talking about. I donāt know if this answered your question, but I sure hope so. Thatās my projector story. :)
the horizon 20 max is the brightest projector I ever used in my scenarios. I am one to use a light meter, i admit to having a ALR screen by now in combination with the projector. but the picture is lightyears ahead of the jmgo n1s ultimate what projector do you use on a daily basis?
Hey! So I ended up going for the Mogo 4 laser so maybe we can compare our experiences. Itās also my first projector. Image quality for movies is extremely crisp and high quality. The colors and contrasts are absolutely awesome. For the screen size there a huge difference between say 130in vs 120 and lower. You really feel like the limit is at 120 and I even put it at 100in because having a sharper image on what is still a big screen feels like the better compromise here. The sound lacks some bass but overall itās fine. I would absolutely not feeling like Iām missing out if thatās all I had if I bring it at a friends day. Iām planning on using my good Bluetooth speaker next time I try. I heard the gv is better on that front! Gaming is fine, the delay is supposed to be 10-20ms and I notice it more than I thought I would, but Iām pretty sensitive to delay as Iām used to my powerful pc at 144hz and less than 1ms latency. I also use it as a huge second monitor for work above my workspace because I need to look at a lot of things at once and I was tired of going through tabs. The image isnāt as crisp as Iād hoped for small text and a lot of small details cramped into a huge screen. I see a lot of laser bleeding on that small detail. I think this is due to the fact that Iām sitting a lot closer to the screen than you would if youāre watching a movie (my desk is against the wall and itās projecting above my computer screen). But honestly itās doing the job really well. I have no reference point unfortunately but I assume that I would need a 4K projector to see an improvement on that front. Iām sorry youāre struggling with the software itās ultimately what made me not pick the gv. On that end itās not an issue with the Mogo itās as quick and responsive as my nvidia shield android tv. Enjoy! What movies are you planning to watch ont the bigger screen? On my end thereās blade runner 2049 and mad max furiosa and scarface
# Context Since I recently relocated countries and I'm starting from scratch, I've been wondering whether getting a TV or projector would be best. As I wasn't sure I was ready to commit to either a large TV or an expensive permanent projector since we're renting at the moment and plans change. # The Decision We were quite close to buying a cheap TV until I realized our current apartment complex has "TULU" dispensers that allow us to rent appliances for "free" (up to an hour) and we tried & quite liked the Anker Nebula 3 Capsule. Sure, it wasn't very bright (it's barely bright enough for night usage) but it was plenty usable and awfully convenient because the integrated battery + speakers + google TV + auto keystone correction meant it was ready to use within seconds literally ANYWHERE. My wife absolutely fell in love with the concept. Besides, where I live its going dark at 4pm ATM so that's a lot of "dark" time for using it, and we could use it on the bedroom earlier closing the blackout curtains. Sadly, at 500-600 EUR average price where I live for either the regular Nebula 3 or Nebula 3 Laser was a larger investment than I'd like. Even if I was leaning for regular Nebula due to horrendous Chromatic Aberration reports on cheap Laser projectors. But hey, maybe the convenience was worth it? Even if every post on r/budgetprojectors and r/projectors acted like its brightness was "unusable" or "an insult for the price" while screaming I just get the Nexigo PJ40/JMGO N1S/BenQ. But not only did some of them feel too large for me, I wasn't sure I wanted to commit to a "permanent" type bulkier projector that required being constantly plugged in for use (+investing in separate stand). Anyways, just as I was about to pull the trigger on the Nebula 3, I stumbled upon some recommendations of the XGIMI Mogo 2 Pro which seemed awfully similar to what I wanted, but even brighter? No integrated battery though, but its USB C charging + integrated stand still felt miles more convenient than other projectors and even the Nebula 3. Thankfully, the Mogo 2 Pro was out of stock before I could buy it, and Amazon only had the Mogo 4 w/Additional Battery Stand for 500 EUR which addressed multiple of my concerns (integrated battery/full size HDMI port/Google TV) and even added some amazing features I never knew I wanted like being able to use it as a bluetooth speaker or a stand giving it incredible battery life. # The Product Honestly, we had high expectations from people raving about how much brighter it was than the nebula, but it absolutely exceeded our expectations. We bought this fully expecting to be restricted for using it in the dark and extremely restricting conditions (Nebula 3 was barely visible at night if a single light was on). But to our shock, it actually works during day! And in WAY more challenging conditions I expected it to fail at. As shown in the image, we used it at 10am in broad daylight (enough to cast shadows outside) on a wall right beside a huge window. And while it did help a bit the window is on the shaded side of the building, it still felt extremely impressive for the price AND small + battery powered form factor. Specially when the Nebula 3 suffered under dramatically more forgiving conditions. It's so bright we actually use it on ECO mode at times lol. Brightness for me is a solid 9/10 when you account for the size/price. Speaker quality was similarly way more solid than I was expecting. For the size, price and power, I certainly did NOT expect Homepod or Bose level sound quality, but I was crossing my fingers it was not bad enough to be unusable. Thankfully, sound is frankly excellent, with deep enough bass and loud full volume for movies/games to be enjoyable at home (we use only 30-40% of its volume). I'd rate it 8/10. Not mind blowing, but absolutely WAY better than most people would expect from something this small that packs this much internals while having room for a giant battery. As for battery life, even if it was something we expected, it still surprised us. By its own, battery life felt more than acceptable at \~2 hours average. Maybe 15-20 mins more on ECO mode, and a tad less on Standard Mode but always enough to finish a single movie. But the stand with integrated battery life? Not only does it easily DOUBLE that (definitely not "triple" it like XGIMI claims, but definitely maybe 2.5x easily), we did NOT expect how convenient it would be to use. Its trivially easy to connect/disconnect instantly as well as to disassemble for travel and how many more convenient positions it opened up. I'd rate battery life 10/10 with the powered stand, or at 8/10 without it. Given how much brighter it is than the Nebula, I expected battery life to suffer and be much worse. Thankfully that does NOT seem to be the case. Besides, we love it's USB C powered as I can use any of our power banks for unlimited use anywhere. And as a final cool thing I noticed, processing power felt WAY better than expected. I'm very used to TV's (even expensive ones) and even Streaming Boxes having horribly underpowered processors forcing me to always just use a Nvidia Shield. (Admittedly, I have low tolerance for lag) But it was a lovely surprise seeing how snappy the Mogo 4 is. It might be far from my Shield power-wise (then again, what isn't?), but its plenty snappy for regular use and navigating the UI is very snappy with very low delays. With the caveat that trying to open the settings menu while streaming HDR content can sometimes cause some slow down, but that's a common issue on most devices and easy to work around. I'd rate performance a solid 8/10. # Random things I noticed Before I end the review, I'd like to note 2 things which stuck to me. The 360 Swivel stand is FANTASTIC and crazy convenient as it means its ridiculously easy to set up anywhere on any angle imaginable. Even projecting on the ceiling while in bed is now something we can do and always wanted to. And as a bonus, I love how when collapsed it protects the lens. It also supports ambient light mode and some weird lens for "mood light" usage, but I've yet to find a use for those but maybe something will change. For now they remain gimmicks for me. Finally, power consumption appears to be 35-50watts during normal operation. Which is... ok? I guess it makes sense for how bright it is when you account for the speakers and processor running Google TV. But I'd like if I didn't wish it consumed slightly less at maybe 20-30watts. Our 20,000mah USB C PD power banks last \~2-3 hours. Would have been quite nice if it lasted 3-4 hours per charge. But its not like its an issue as our power banks can fully charge in 30-45 minutes and we can just cycle them. We use it fully plugged in sometimes too, but the convenience of being battery powered cannot be beat. Its kind of crazy to me still something this small and bright with single 20k power bank gives me nearly 8 hours of movie time. # In Conclusion I would 100% recommend this projector to anyone as it felt like a huge surprise even after all the research we did before getting it. Hope this review helps other as well. The only scenarios I might not recommend it is perhaps for permanent setups where a brighter display would be preferable. But for convenience sake and people on a similar situation? This can't be beat. And even if you think you might not need this level of convenience? Maybe you do, but not having the options could have always been the limiting factor like it was for us. Also, happy new year!
Man, I wish I didn't want mine for games or I'd have gotten that one too. Colors and contrast look fantastic on the laser version, I'm jealous of you. Only reason I avoided the laser version is it seems cheap laser projectors like the Mogo 4 Laser tend to have [color fringing from chromatic aberration](https://www.reddit.com/r/xgimi/comments/1lfls0k/mogo_4_laser_pixelblurry) around text or light borders of things which are a lot more present for games than movies. I know some people don't mind it, but I do if the effect is too pronounced or obvious like in this case.
Lol, fair enough! Seems like a perfect device for your use case given circumstances. It might also be just me being a bit less tolerant of things like that. My wife for example can't tell difference between 60 and 120hz or 4k to 1080p and I hate how much I can ruin things for myself for having preferences on displays. The thing is, I don't mind low resolution or even low refresh rate (even 30fps) depending on type of content and display type/size. But color fringing is too distracting for me as I've suffered from it on some display types including VR headsets with fresnel lenses and their large amounts of chromatic aberration. Worst part is I didn't notice it at first for quite a while, but once I did it was impossible to unsee it for me or forget it exists :(
Sidenote I forgot to mention, I intentionally avoided the "performance mode" for maximum brightness. Brightest mode I use is "standard" as that's plenty bright for me while remaining near absolute silent. I LOVE how quiet it is. It never dawned on me to mention fan noise in the review since I literally never noticed it even though we always use low volume. The one time I used performance mode the fan became obnoxiously loud and brightness didn't feel like it went up dramatically to justify it which to me is perfect anyways. Oh, and we've used it a lot to play games! Works with our Switch 1/2 and my MSI Claw 8AI+ (Windows PC handheld) with near zero latency even in FPS and online games. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll be happy to answer them!
Uhh... I'm a 10 year old account lol, and if you check my post history I have literally zero that could be related to XGIMI or even projectors for that matter. But ok. Sorry it rubbed you the wrong way a happy customer provided an honest opinion lol.

I have the XGIMI Mogo 3 (couldnāt find a big difference to the 4, but that whine can turn 360 which would be nice) and itās good enough. not comparable to a TV of course but I donāt see pixels and for casual watching it was very alright.
Iāve been using the MoGo 2 for a while, and itās been great for indoor movie nights. The MoGo 4 is a solid upgrade with a brighter image, built-in battery, and a 360° stand make it more versatile for different setups. If youāre looking for something portable that works well in various settings, the XGIMi Mogo series (Mogo 4 if you have the budget) is definitely worth considering
