Xgimi Elfin Flip, Vibe one - Both are good If considering flip do know that it's their own OS(linux), major drawback.. but a firestick will solve it. If vibe one, it doesn't hav obstacle avoidance during auto keystone correction. That's a big drawback if it's a compact place with furniture or things around. You need to manually adjust it every time. Less lumens compared to Elfin.

Hi everyone! First off thank you u/PlayStationPepe and XGIMI for this giveaway. It was a wonderful opportunity to review a product that hopefully gives insight into more budget-friendly projectors that people can take a look into as their starting point, because I know the price for projectors definitely intimidates me and my wallet. For unnecessary context, I first joined this subreddit because I wanted something I could use for a small classroom that I worked in for an afterschool program, but since I no longer work there I've found more joy in using it for my show-watching needs :) Some thoughts: \- I love how portable it is! I would love for this to have a case with it in case of worry of dust or scratching. Something like the cylindrical insulated lunch boxes if anyone knows what I'm talking about. \- I see the ambient light and something cute and quirky especially for a camping on-the-go kind of vibe, but for home movie time I didn't care too much for it. \- I mainly operated this while having noise cancelling headphones connected, so that helped my experience with it but I normally kept it plugged in when possible and in balanced mode. I activated performance mode once or twice but I personally felt that the fan noise increase wasn't worth the brightness increase. \- This is my first ever projector and the auto-keystone and focus helped out a lot and were easy to configure. Setup wasn't tedious and from taking it out of the box to loading Netflix and watching shows it was super beginner friendly. \- My room itself only had my bed backwall as a large empty wall to project it on, but for fun I threw it up on my ceiling. While slightly angled since the handle doesn't let it go straight up, it did the job and autofocused rather well LOL. Any slanting and small autofocus edits were simple enough in settings. I do recommend this for an entry level starter with how bright and clear the image is, the ease of startup, and the convenience of a handle and portable size.

**Disclaimer**: I received the Xgimi Vibe One projector free of charge from Xgimi for review purposes. My opinions, evaluation, and conclusions are entirely my own and were not influenced by Xgimi. Thank you for Xgimi for providing this projector free of charge. # Lifestyle, Portability & Ambient Mode The Xgimi Vibe One is built for flexibility, making it a perfect fit for a "pop-up" bedroom cinema. Because it is battery-powered and features a sturdy built-in handle, you can move it from a bedside table to a living room shelf without fumbling with cables. A major highlight for home aesthetics is the **Ambient Mode**. By simply tilting the projector down, it transforms from a movie screen into a mood light that cycles through colors—ideal for a nightlight or holiday decor. While it uses the main light source for this (making it less energy-efficient than a dedicated LED), the "tilt-to-glow" feature is incredibly convenient. https://preview.redd.it/netjcpefwqag1.jpg?width=4024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1cd47af1f887fa0d98b931ef0766620b05f1366e # Image Quality & Lens Performance In a dark, light-controlled room, the Vibe One provides a perfectly usable and enjoyable experience. The image is sharpest in the center, where focus is excellent with no visible softness or chromatic aberration. However, when projecting a large 67-inch image from 2 meters away, there is noticeable softness at the edges. This edge softness is partly due to the lens projecting straight out without offset, which often requires keystone correction to align the focus plane. The auto-keystone is reliable but conservative; manual adjustments are often needed to maximize the image size. For those concerned about eye strain, my testing with 480fps video confirmed there is no visible flickering. https://preview.redd.it/2evy408qxqag1.jpg?width=1447&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=df67d3bf192f08160fd0ca1852ace29e1d53c59d # Power, Brightness & Fan Noise The projector offers three brightness modes: * **Standard:** The best daily setting, offering good brightness and relatively quiet fan noise. * **Eco:** Dims the image significantly to save power; I recommend this only for battery-powered use. * **Performance:** Slightly increases brightness but causes the fan noise to ramp up to maximum on my unit. This mode is only available when plugged into the 65W power adapter. I suspect the loud fan in this mode may be a software bug, as I once triggered it without the noise ramp-up. The unit handles the transition to battery power flawlessly. While the current power adapter uses a standard barrel connector, a USB-C port would have been a great addition for modern smartphone charger compatibility. https://preview.redd.it/nx5mugovxqag1.jpg?width=1705&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7ecd9d2070831de467c24f3bea9c85b1237e5190 # Software & Connectivity Running Google TV, the UI is surprisingly fluid despite the budget hardware. While the initial setup installs more apps than requested, the system settles in quickly after a slightly laggy startup. Connectivity is a mixed bag: * **Wi-Fi:** Speeds maxed out at 80Mbps, which is plenty for 4K streaming but suggests a hardware limit. * **Casting:** This was the most disappointing area; while static content works, any movement leads to a very low frame rate (1-2 FPS) and audio cutouts. * **Remote:** The remote is pleasant to use, though the "Shortcut" button is unfortunately not remappable to your app of choice. Unfortunately the Home button placement feels less intuitive than the central Settings button. # Audio & Conclusion The integrated speakers are a standout for this price class—plenty loud with a good frequency response. You won’t need external speakers for casual viewing. Overall, the Xgimi Vibe One makes smart compromises to hit its 250€ price point. While it struggles with edge focus and casting, its snappy UI and portability make it a strong contender for anyone needing a portable movie solution. https://preview.redd.it/b76guub4yqag1.jpg?width=4024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f407df684f36bf5fa5365112aee686e76698ce34

Well, if you go with a portable projector op. You can do both with them. Look into the lifestyle projector category. You’ll find a lot of options available from the big name brands like BenQ, Epson, Hisense, LG, XGIMI, Anker, JMGO, Valerian, etc. Your budget towards a projector really determines if you’re able to purchase a unit that’s going to last. If you’re looking to start small, have a look at the models from BenQ & XGIMI. They have portable units such as: • BenQ GV30, GV50 • XGIMI Vibe One • XGIMI Elfin Flip (Refurbished, if you’re looking for a good deal) These get you into the gimbal style design to where all you have to do is tilt the projector to where you want to view it.

You can check out Xgimi Elfin Flip or Xgimi Vibe One. But you will need an absolutely dark room for best performance. But for this low price tag and screen size there is not much to recommend. Really this is not the best setup for projectors at all.

Depends on the size screen youre tryig to have. I disagree with other commenter on projectors. they arent hard to set up, they are easier to move, and if you want a large screen way outpace an oled, because pricing gets high for big OLED tvs and the bigger they are, the more stationary they becime. A decent 4k projector starts around $1000 you can get a 65inch oled for that price. If youre going to be using a projector at 80inch screensize or smaller, get an oled in your price range, the image quality of oled is unparalleled, But if yiu want 80inches or bigger projectors are awesome, and most play 3d too. However these days you can get a 77inch oled for $1500, so not a huge difference, and high end projectors will cost at least 2x that. I have a 42inch c2 oled in my bedroom, a xgimi 1080p projector casting about 75-80inchs in there as well that only cost $200 and I use both alot depending on what im watching and lighting conditions. In my family room I have a 42 inch cheap 4k tv, and the xgimi horizon s pro (about $1200 when i bought it) 2024 model 4k projector casting about 120inch screen. I never even turn on the 42inch in the family room, the projector is just so captivating because the size, and while image quality is less than that of an OLED, its still beautiful and 3d movies that size are fun to watch as an added bonus. Gaming on a huge screen is also just a lot of fun. Bright light and basically all projectors become bad, so if you have no control over lighting and watch a lot during the day, a projector is no good. Like everything, there are positives and negatives to both.
