I have the PH01 and PH04, touch wood both units still work and I’m happy about its operation. The most important thing is, you MUST NOT put the pump cover upside down, otherwise the water may seep into the circuit board and cause most of the other issues. Also it designs to humidify a room, instead of an open space. You don’t need to use distilled water, but you need to clean the filter and pump with citric acid at least once a month with deep clean function to prevent scale build up. This is an evaporative humidifier so it will not have white dust issue. Hopefully you get the good unit to begin with.
I have been using the Dyson Pure Humidify+Cool for a while now as my air and purifier and it has been great for my similar-sized space. It effectively removes fine dust and controls humidity. Filter replacements are a necessity every 6-12 months and electricity costs are at a reasonable rate
For the love of god stay away. There is a trough the evaporative filter sits in that collects sediment and pink mold/slime. The deep clean cycle isn't aggressive enough to deal with it, as most of the buildup occurs right at water level where the cleaning solution is least effective. It's non-removable and difficult to access, and I was in there with an electric toothbrush every two weeks. Ridiculous for a $1000 humidifier. I still have it, as I'm deep in the Dyson ecosystem, but no longer use the humidify function.
[THIS](https://manuals.coolblue.de/cd/dyson-pure-humidify-cool-witzilver.pdf) engineering manual shows it in the assembly that goes in the water chamber. I went through lots of humidifiers over the years and they all seemed not to be very good. Now I have a Dyson and while it’s hideously expensive it’s easily the best one I’ve ever owned.
I have a Dyson and it’s expensive but the best one I’ve ever owned.
Don’t bother with Dyson. I have a super expensive piece of junk sitting in my living room as the part is nowhere to be found for ordering (it’s been 6months). Their service center is like 70km away one way from me and doesn’t bother to answer the phone so I don’t even know if they have the part. And their CS is deplorable - they said oh well go call our retailers. They might have it (they won’t).
I love our Dyson but it's pricey
