I have the PH01 and PH04, touch wood both units still work and I’m happy about its operation. The most important thing is, you MUST NOT put the pump cover upside down, otherwise the water may seep into the circuit board and cause most of the other issues. Also it designs to humidify a room, instead of an open space. You don’t need to use distilled water, but you need to clean the filter and pump with citric acid at least once a month with deep clean function to prevent scale build up. This is an evaporative humidifier so it will not have white dust issue. Hopefully you get the good unit to begin with.
I would def NOT buy a Dyson. I was so so bummed on ours. I splurged and got the $1100 one they have because I knew we would be using it every night and it was able to stay clean so much easier (supposedly) and that was a selling point too. But over the last month, it developed a high pitch shrill sound after being on for about 2-3 hours at night and it is deafening. It sounds like shrill, consistent fire alarm beep. When I reached out to customer service (because it is still under warranty) - this is literally what they said, "We can offer you a discount on the NEW Dyson with updated features" - I told them that solution didn't feel great because I had already spent a ton of money on the product and didn't want to spend even more on another one I wasn't sure would work either. Then after a lengthy call, he gives me a shipping label to mail the HUGE tower of a machine back "for repairs". It is a UPS label and I got quoted $42 for the thick style huge box I need and all the bubble wrapping to go with it. I asked customer service if they offer assistance with this, and no, it is up to the customer to foot even MORE money and you aren't even guaranteed these "repairs" will even fix the problem. I am just SO disappointed. You would think if you spend a premium price on a premium product there would be a more accommodating solution. My husband and I have been a Dyson fam in the past (vacuums, air filers/humidifiers/ hair dryer/ hair straightener - but this left me DONE with them.

I have been using the Dyson Pure Humidify+Cool for a while now as my air and purifier and it has been great for my similar-sized space. It effectively removes fine dust and controls humidity. Filter replacements are a necessity every 6-12 months and electricity costs are at a reasonable rate
Second this on the Dyson I’m going through the same exact scenario. Save your money.
I went through lots of humidifiers over the years and they all seemed not to be very good. Now I have a Dyson and while it’s hideously expensive it’s easily the best one I’ve ever owned.
I have a Dyson and it’s expensive but the best one I’ve ever owned.
I love our Dyson but it's pricey
