Levoit works well for us. I have both the manual and the digital one. I have the Bluetooth/app enabled one in my daughter’s room so that I can set a humidity level and run it on auto. I use SO much less water that way. And if needed I can shut it off or turn it on in her room without going in at night. I bought a cheapo on Amazon first that immediately leaked during the night the first night. Don’t make that mistake. Important notes: warm mist humidifiers are not recommended with young children as it is essentially scalding hot water and if it should tip over or leak with them around you could have serious burns to deal with. Whether you have hard water or not, definitely make the annoying trek to pick up distilled water from the store for it. For cleaning purposes alone, it’s worth it. But generally speaking you don’t want to be vaporizing water with various minerals and who knows what else into the air and breathing it.

I only have younger (<1 year old) BOP. Two are outside in direct Texas sun every day in ambient humidity (ranges from 50-70%) and they are thriving and sizing up a lot with \~2 new leaves/month. The BOP I have indoors with indirect light and supplemental grow light has a dedicated humidifier set to 70% and while it is doing well and sizing up, it is nothing compared to the ones outdoors. I've been getting about 1 new leaf per month on it. I am sure that higher humidity levels help, but in my limited anecdotal experience, sunlight is a bigger driver of growth. More specifically about the humidifier - these plants definitely like a more humid environment. My ambient house humidity is usually 40-60% so I supplement my indoor BOP with a LEVOIT Dual 200S Smart Humidifier that runs about 12 hours a day set to 70%. I like having the option to set the times it runs and the target humidity level but I have to fill it about once a day so it would be nice to have one with a larger tank. Other tips: \- Have a hygrometer nearby to show what the humidity is doing if you are concerned it isn't getting enough. \- I do recommend a humidifier over misting which I don't think provides a measurable uptick in humidity. \- I'd also keep the BOP away from your AC vents so it doesn't have chilled air blowing directly on it.

This is my favorite one: https://levoit.com/products/dual-200s-smart-top-fill-humidifier I cannot find consistent guidance on whether a traditional steam humidifier or cool mist is recommended for babies? I've seen it go both ways. I had this one already bc I live in a hot climate, and it's worked well for us. Also, humidifier cleaning inserts like these are essential: https://a.co/d/aw7OXYQ

Running a humidifier in my room while I sleep helps a ton. I bought [this one](https://a.co/d/fGDFBD5) earlier this year to replace an old one that was harder to clean, and it’s been great so far. You can sync it with an app to set your ideal humidity level, rather than plain on/off. I also keep a saline spray on my bedside table and use that before bed and if I wake in the night. Also drink a lot of water during the day to stay hydrated. I find the nights the dry air is worst for me are the nights I haven’t been drinking enough water. I’m sensitive to the dry air anyway, and I’m pregnant right now so it’s like x100. I hope this helps!

r/BuyItForLifeBest HUMIDIFIER you'll recommend that really works well in long-term use?

Been using a Levoit for about 2 years now and it's solid, just don't slack on the weekly cleaning or you'll regret it lol. The top-fill design is clutch when you're lazy about refills

I’ve tried multiple and I feel like no matter what they get moldy🥲 best I’ve found is the Vicks 3-in-1, it serves us well when emptied and dried daily, and fully cleaned every few uses. Frida baby 3 in 1 immediately got moldy, as did our levoit top fill. But the ultimate winner is a whole home humidifier. We splurged($1000 for install and humidifier) because we have number 2 coming in August and I despise the upkeep of room humidifiers.

I recommend Levoit's top-filling models instead. They're not at Costco, but they work great, are much easier to fill and clean than bottom filling ones, and the brand is pretty solid. Just make sure to keep up with cleaning, ultrasonic humidifiers require it or they get nasty. I clean with both vinegar and bleach (separately, of course) and mine have been working for years.

r/BuyItForLifeAre there any real BIFL humidifiers out there?

I just ordered a levoit brand one, having had other levoit ones that last a long time. The difference in the new is it is top fill, and has a big opening, and made specifically for easy cleaning. I will also make it a point to never put tape water in it, distilled only. I used to use the additives that supposedly make it not gunk up, but in the Midwest/Ohio valley area, our water has a lot of dissolved minerals (limestone especially) and is very "green" with lots of living organisms too small to be seen, even when treated.

I have the Levoit top-fill and I like it. Long-term use is kind of vague. It shouldn't break on you at all, and you should just give it a quick wash once a week to keep it from developing any mold

r/NewParentsDry air is causing baby nosebleeds. Has anyone tried a baby-safe humidifier that actually works?

You should use a cool mist humidifier for baby. We have a levoit and like to a lot. It has an auto shut off feature which is nice.  If the air is too dry in the whole house you may want to consider a whole home humidifier

You should use a cool mist humidifier. We have a Levoit that works well. But we use it in addition to our whole house humidifier we recently had installed. The whole home humidifier was an investment but worth it
