I only have younger (<1 year old) BOP. Two are outside in direct Texas sun every day in ambient humidity (ranges from 50-70%) and they are thriving and sizing up a lot with \~2 new leaves/month. The BOP I have indoors with indirect light and supplemental grow light has a dedicated humidifier set to 70% and while it is doing well and sizing up, it is nothing compared to the ones outdoors. I've been getting about 1 new leaf per month on it. I am sure that higher humidity levels help, but in my limited anecdotal experience, sunlight is a bigger driver of growth. More specifically about the humidifier - these plants definitely like a more humid environment. My ambient house humidity is usually 40-60% so I supplement my indoor BOP with a LEVOIT Dual 200S Smart Humidifier that runs about 12 hours a day set to 70%. I like having the option to set the times it runs and the target humidity level but I have to fill it about once a day so it would be nice to have one with a larger tank. Other tips: \- Have a hygrometer nearby to show what the humidity is doing if you are concerned it isn't getting enough. \- I do recommend a humidifier over misting which I don't think provides a measurable uptick in humidity. \- I'd also keep the BOP away from your AC vents so it doesn't have chilled air blowing directly on it.
This is my favorite one: https://levoit.com/products/dual-200s-smart-top-fill-humidifier I cannot find consistent guidance on whether a traditional steam humidifier or cool mist is recommended for babies? I've seen it go both ways. I had this one already bc I live in a hot climate, and it's worked well for us. Also, humidifier cleaning inserts like these are essential: https://a.co/d/aw7OXYQ
I have a couple different ones but [this one (Amazon link)](https://www.amazon.ca/Humidifiers-Essential-Diffuser-Humidity-Operation/dp/B09KT9ZK7Q/ref=mp_s_a_1_3_pp_maf_3?crid=1IW3X24GBTRB4&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.Y4ZnP8AogdLGWVxTwzoSjWkOF-GLmNzoKbhcliHcI-ktYiamZEB6FgDeOFjoAaq6pI9TWmcYnK8RmpLbGUJhMrfEf3oWBYhPjdigC3zJxccs8SBDKTqgT3kTrUqKkvgCaB65rSs9l2wSuY3jkFBKYzSmEJ-izUJX0drjivIqrUEk8OZoua0EdbbTikbGTnR9d3P2OH0j-z7xxFwoS2OZag.JH3z_-OlrYrx6ZJXbGn2lpHD0MVYwMOxqzcxnik8eNs&dib_tag=se&keywords=levoit+humidifier&qid=1767111182&sprefix=levoit%2Caps%2C384&sr=8-3&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.a9cfdadb-853e-427d-a2b7-ed306eff4f60) is my favourite one and the one I bought for my second baby so I have it in both kids’ rooms.
Ok, was gonna recommend the levoit as that is what I have, only the 3 gallon version. Please do clean it, and let dry as needed. I have two and rotate them, so they are dry for a week to prevent growths.
You should use a cool mist humidifier for baby. We have a levoit and like to a lot. It has an auto shut off feature which is nice. If the air is too dry in the whole house you may want to consider a whole home humidifier
You should use a cool mist humidifier. We have a Levoit that works well. But we use it in addition to our whole house humidifier we recently had installed. The whole home humidifier was an investment but worth it
I'm on my third season with one. Had an issue last year that their CS solved by sending me a V2, with the blue arm not the hose. This one works perfectly, stays cleaner (for some reason I haven't figured out yet). I did hear from their CS that they're working on an upgrade to the app that will allow the user to adjust the differential between a discrete hygrometer across the room and what the onboard hygrometer reads.
So I had a V1 and it was spot on to my Google Nest humidity reading. I got a V2 and like the other guy, it was 6-10% higher than my nest. Same placement as my V1. I sent that V2 back because it developed a leak and ordered another one, so we'll see what that one reads when I get it. I believe someone else posted in the V2 thread about his sensors were off too, but I believe his were reading to low instead of to high.
Yeah, I contacted them because my V2 would run the fan on and off even if the humidity was within 1% of the target I set. This was in Humidity mode. They wanted a video of the issue, but before I could get that video my unit developed a crack in the water tub where the right front wheel is mounted and it started leaking. Their response was to return it through Amazon since it was only a week old.
And if you’re not looking to spend $400, Levoit makes a great room humidifier that doesn’t leak (like most cheaper models do). $30.
