"top fill ... huge tank with handle ... big opening to reach in & easily clean"
"all the pieces that touch water come apart and can be cleaned"
"My recommendation, get one you can clean easily ... The brand we have for her is Levoit, can be bought on amazon. We previously had the Fridababy one and it was a pain to clean so I wouldn’t recommend that one."

"You can’t clean the damn thing either."
"the inside is impossible to clean well. ... The walls are the part I'm mostly talking about. I think it's inevitable it will be dirty with baked on oil/grease."
"Box says it's dishwasher safe. I put it in the dishwasher twice and it started to rust."

"A note of caution: ultrasonic humidifiers like this atomize *everything* in the water, including any bacteria and minerals. The droplets are microscopic (in the nanometer(!) range), and so can penetrate deep into your lungs. If you're using an ultrasonic mister, you should be using distilled water, or, ideally, deionized. They recommend washing it every few days too. (Most of the parts can go in the dishwasher.) And don't leave water in the mister reservoir when you're not using it. ... As an example of how they can vaporize (bad) stuff other than water, when I first filled the Levoit mister, I poured in water from a gallon jug of distilled water that I had, but I forgot that I had added table salt to the water for flushing out my sinuses. The water was as salty as seawater, and the mist it made created a white fog in the room that left a white deposit on tables and the stereo and everyplace where it landed. Breathing sodium chloride probably isn't too bad for you, but if you are seeing "white dust" after adding hard water, you are probably breathing calcium sulfate deep into your lungs, and that is probably not good at all. RTFM and follow the instructions! ... Bacteria and minerals, both, and the microscopic droplets carry both deep into your lungs."
"Yeah, I have 6L Levoit and it's a pain in the ass to clean. I do it once a week."
"its filter was always damp and would get moldy if I didn’t replace it fast enough"

"it does not work with tap water. ... I used tap water with ultrasonic humidifier before and there is white powder buildup and I feel sick because of it. ... While using distilled water can be expensive and burdensome to buy on daily basis--It uses almost 2Gal water per day."
We have had the same Levoit for about 4 years now, and run it every day once we start using heat in the house. We like it because all the pieces that touch water come apart and can be cleaned, which we do about once a month. We also bought a distiller, which helps keep the mineral buildup down.
r/BuyItForLife • do all humidifiers suck?? need recs for one that’ll actually survive the winter ->I like Levoit as well.
r/IndoorPlants • Humidifier Recommendations? ->Same here. I was struggling to find an evaporative humidifier. I currently have LEVOIT LV600HH, which claims to be one of the best ultrasonic humidifier. But: 1. it does not work with tap water. I used tap water with ultrasonic humidifier before and there is white powder buildup and I feel sick because of it. While using distilled water can be expensive and burdensome to buy on daily basis--It uses almost 2Gal water per day. 2. Most of parts are machine-washable, except one built-in vent on the base, which has the most dark-dirt buildup--I don't know where the dirt/germs are from, but it shows up the next morning after I clean it, and it's difficult to clean thoroughly because of the structure. So what I am looking for: 1. evaporative humidifier which can use tap water directly. 2. easy to clean, ideally the whole body is machine washable. 3. Low noise. The most satisfying part of LV600HH is its extremely low noise.
r/BuyItForLife • easy to clean evaporative humidifier ->Look forward to your update. I turned out to buy a new AIRCARE 2.5 Gal. Evaporative Humidifier. 1. The noise is louder than the old ultrasonic one, but at the lowest fan level it is acceptable. 2. With a larger water tank it supports a higher room humidity level which is a plus. 3. I used tap water and didn't pay attention to the filter until 3 weeks later I noticed it's molded...I tried different methods to clean up and reuse the filter but failed. 4. I bought new filter and ProTec humidifier cleaner. So far it looks OK. We will see. Lessons learned: never clean the filter with bleach, it does sanitize and remove mold stain, but it takes much more effort to remove the residue from the filter, and it softens the filter that it can no longer stand within the humidifier :(
r/BuyItForLife • easy to clean evaporative humidifier ->I’ve got a Levoit humidifier too, also live in a super hard water area. I only use distilled water in it to extend its lifespan and avoid having to descale reguarly. I always have distilled water in anyway for some of the more sensitive plants.
r/IndoorPlants • Humidifier Recommendations? ->There is no such thing as a maintenance-free humidifier, whether it’s evaporative, ultrasonic, or even steam, they all require regular cleaning or regular changing of filters (or sometimes both). Steam is less prone to mold, but also super hot, and is prone to scale buildup which still requires cleaning. I would suggest giving your current unit a thorough clean first to see if that solves the issue. We have a 6L LEVOIT (ultrasonic/cool mist) humidifier, and I check ours every couple of weeks. If I see the mold, wipe the affected areas down with vinegar and rinse. Hydrogen peroxide 3% works well if I really want to feel thorough. We also make sure to change out the filter as recommended or more often (you can buy them in bulk). We also run two Vornado evaporative humidifiers on the first floor of the house. Let me tell you, the wicks in those develop considerable mold, and we change them out once a month or sometimes more often. Regardless of humidifier the concept is the same. You have to take care of them no matter what you buy.
r/AskParents • Found pink mold on my old humidifier, looking for a cleaner, baby-safe option? ->You should use a cool mist humidifier. We have a Levoit that works well. But we use it in addition to our whole house humidifier we recently had installed. The whole home humidifier was an investment but worth it
r/NewParents • Humidifiers to help the Baby’s dry skin ->i have a levoit with a hygrometer and it has lots of bad reviews specifically for that white dust
r/AirQuality • Just found out that this is the humidifier I’ve been using to help me breathe after sinus surgery… ->I second Levoit. All 4 of my humidifiers are Levoit
r/IndoorPlants • Humidifier Recommendations? ->Yeah, I have 6L Levoit and it's a pain in the ass to clean. I do it once a week.
r/Dryeyes • Humidifier recommendations? ->I have been through 5 humidifiers in the last 3 years, but my Levoit is going strong. I second this recommendation.
r/IndoorPlants • Humidifier Recommendations? ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS
