Buy a good one, you'll appreciate it. I bought the Levoit LV600S, which I highly, highly recommend.
r/Sinusitis • Best humidifier? ->I use a LEVOIT LV600S, which has warm and cool steam. You can run them at the same time which saves on water--I usually have the "cool" at level 2/3 and warm at 1/3. I put some eucalyptus on the essential oil pad and it helps me & my daughter tremendously. The water will run out overnight if you have the warm mist on a high setting. Make sure to use distilled water and always let it dry out during the day, preferably in the sunlight. I also love the Levoit app and how I can use my Alexa device to control the humidifier with my voice. r/Allergies • Do steam humidifiers actually feel better for allergies and asthma? ->Guitars should have 40% to 60% humidity, depending on the type of guitar. Levoit LV600S is pretty easy to clean. It’s an ultrasonic humidifier, so you really should only use purified or distilled water because it atomizes any chemicals and pours it into the air. Breathing in water that contains things like heavy metals can be harmful to your health. I recommend buying a water distillation machine. VEVOR Water Distiller costs around $55 to $60, and are worth it. There are higher end ones, but these do work decently. Fill it with tap, use the distilled water in the humidifier. Once a week clean it with citric acid. The humidifier is good for about a month with just distilled water fills. Unfortunately there’s no way to remove the required work for continued working machines. You can reduce it, but often have to put in some kind of routine to supplement the reduced maintenance
r/BuyItForLife • Can anyone recommend a low-maintenance humidifier under $100-150? ->Levoit LV600S Buy the Costco model (it’s the same as above and cheaper): https://www.costco.com/levoit-smart-hybrid-ultrasonic-warmcool-mist-158g-humidifier.product.4000206868.html
r/smarthome • Smart humidifier with less than +/- 5% target range ->I just purchased this model Levoit LV600S Smart Humidifier and have noticed a considerable difference in my sleep quality over the past 10 days. I always wake up in the middle of the night with dry mouth/nose during the winter and so far this has pretty much stopped those wake ups. It’s able gauge the humidity level and keep it within a set range at night without running out of water.
r/Denver • Humidifier for room that actually works ->I own the Levoit and have basically stopped using it / would not buy it again because of cleaning and maintenance. Spending 45 minutes disassembling, cleaning with a tooth brush, and then letting dry on my table every 2 weeks is not what I expected. It’s hard to be BIFL when twice a month I seriously consider taking it out back and giving it the “printer from Office Space” treatment.
r/BuyItForLife • Levoit, Blueair, Turbro. Any opinions on these humidifiers? ->Best Humidifier is Levoit 600S Smart Hybrid Ultrasonic. Please check out!!
r/GoodValue • Best humidifier? Levoit 6000s vs Venta lw45 or Ah550 ->for long term use i would go with the Levoit LV600S it auto maintains humidity and you can control it from an app. its easy to clean and runs pretty quietly. You can find some good options [in this thread](https://www.reddit.com/user/SecureRich1212/comments/1nvesr8/the_best_humidifiers/)
r/BuyItForLife • Best HUMIDIFIER you'll recommend that really works well in long-term use? ->Have two of these, clean them once every few weeks but never the whole clean routine they describe. That I do once per season. They have cool mist but you can mix it with warm mist and that seems to stop the tiny white particles I saw with cool mist only types. They are easy to fill, clean, and look nice enough. [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C4GHYH2M](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C4GHYH2M)
r/BuyItForLife • do all humidifiers suck?? need recs for one that’ll actually survive the winter ->i have a levoit with a hygrometer and it has lots of bad reviews specifically for that white dust
r/AirQuality • Just found out that this is the humidifier I’ve been using to help me breathe after sinus surgery… ->I don’t have any context for the Carepod models, but I do own the Levoit 6000S and I’ve been really happy with it. I’m so glad I went with the evaporative style instead of ultrasonic. This will be my third winter using it, and the filters last me the whole season (about 3–4 months. I’m in the south, so I don’t run heat as much as someone up north might). I haven’t had to deal with any mold or funky buildup either, which was a big concern for me when I was shopping too. I think both brands you’re considering are solid though. I just checked. The Humidifiers subreddit has a [post on reputable humidifier brands ](https://www.reddit.com/r/Humidifiers/comments/1ffuk7n/humidifiers_complete_product_list_features/)and both Levoit and Carepod are on it. That thread might be worth a look if you’re still deciding.
r/BuyItForLife • Best humidifer for large room + winter use ->Not sure I would put any humidifier into the BIFL category, but I’ve had the Levoit 6000S for two years and I’ve been really happy with it. You say you live in a studio apartment though, so it would likely be overkill for you. If you’re still shopping, the other commenters are right, you need to know the size of your space. Then, you can use the [humidifier comparison tool](https://www.reddit.com/r/Humidifiers/comments/1ffuk7n/humidifiers_complete_product_list_features/), also pinned at the top of the Humidifiers subreddit to sort by models that match your size and space.
r/BuyItForLife • Best Humidifier to Replace my Cheap One ->I use an evaporative cooler. Tap water runs into a trough with perforations in it that drips on filters. The minerals get trapped in the filter so all it puts out is water vapor. Holds 6 gallons so you have to be smart about where you fill it so you don't accidentally dump the tub or fab up a hose and leave it in place. I have mine next to my wood stove, keep it at 40%RH, and have to refill it every 4 days or so. Every third refill it so I wash the tub with soap and water followed by a good rinse. There is a more extensive cleaning process in the manual. It's a Levoit 6000s and depending on the size of your space you may need to go with a smaller unit but in the Winter in 2k sf it's perfect.
r/Humidifiers • Best Humidifier for Hard Water? ->I'd suggest you read the Amazon reviews on the EV3 before pulling the trigger. I tried an EVAP40 and found it to be poorly made and not very well designed. I'm on my 3rd season with a Levoit 6000s next to my wood stove and couldn't be happier. I know it's pricier than the Vornado but you save on filters since, if cared for properly, they'll last the entire season. The Vornado wicks need to be replaced monthly.
r/Humidifiers • How much humidifier do I need? ->Levoit 6000s. I'm on my second year with it, works perfectly.
r/Humidifiers • Humidifier Recommendations? ->Yeah, I’d say the HCM-350 is too small for what you’re trying to cover. It’d be better suited for just one bedroom, so you could just buy another identical model. I have the Levoit 6000S and I love it. It would definitely handle your setup. I keep mine in the living room, and it does a great job. The tank is huge, so I only need to fill it about every three days. Refilling takes maybe five minutes, but the hose hooks up to the tap easily enough. Levoit also makes a smaller one called the Sprout, though I’m not sure what the room coverage is on that. If you want to compare options, there’s a big database pinned on the r/Humidifiers subreddit that compares all Humidifiers brands and makes it easy to sort by size and coverage area so you can find something that fits your space.
r/homeowners • Is My Humidifier Too Small for My Needs? Seeking Recommendations for a Better Evaporative Humidifier - HCM-350 ->Levoit 6000S I live in NYC. My place is below 15% humidity most of the winter because I’m high up (heat rises) and my building cranks out the heat from early Oct well into spring. It’s miserable. I suffered migraines and nose bleeds for years. I hate white noise so wanted the quietest option. I tried so many ultrasonic ones but they didn’t put a dent in the low humidity. Also white dust was created and my gas stove flame was red instead of blue because of the minerals in the air. I didn’t like that because stuff was in the air yet humidity same? Just seemed not right to me lol Anyway I finally found a solution! Levoit 6000S. It’s not silent by any means when on high fan but once I crank it up and get my room to desired humidity then I can lower it to medium fan (even low sometimes) to maintain humidity. If you’re only worried about raising bedroom humidity and can shut your door then you will have all the humidity your heart desires with this machine. I also like that it’s not messy. It’s super easy to clean. You can use tap water. And you can soak the filters in citric acid to clean them so they last longer. No need to buy replacements regularly. It is pricey. I got mine used off marketplace for $75. Maybe you could find used one too. I’m sure humidifiers are popular in Colorado! Good luck.
r/Humidifiers • Need help figuring out a humidifier setup in Colorado ->I have a recently remodeled 100 year old house. Not the draftiest place I’ve lived in but it’s not hermetically sealed. Just ordered two Levoit 6000S units, one for each floor! Not cheap at all but I like the castors and the huge reservoir. All of the crown molding in my house is cracking and my wife and kids are suffering from dry throats so I hope these do the job.
r/BuyItForLife • Best humidifier? Enough for a regular size bedroom. ->I use the Levoit 6000s. Love it. Keeps my 2000 sqft house in mid 40%. I refill it every couple of days but was able to get rid of each individual room humidifer. The filters get mineral buildup quickly here though.
r/phoenix • Experiences with whole house humidifiers? ->Levoit 6000S. Huge tank, evaporative, very quiet on low fan setting. Definitely recommend.
r/BuyItForLife • Best Humidifier to Replace my Cheap One ->Just got the 6 L top fill levoit top fill. It’s quiet ! Love it. No dropping noises like the Honeywell I got and returned prior.
r/Buyingforbaby • Favorite humidifier that’s easy to clean, doesn’t puddle, does the job well, and is not loud ->It’s a little pricey, but I love the Levoit brand for my sunroom (and snake room). https://a.co/d/ic7jgmC
r/Monstera • What humidifier is everyone using? ->We have a cool mist humidifier in our daughter’s room. It definitely makes a difference. My recommendation, get one you can clean easily and that you can use essential oils in. The brand we have for her is Levoit, can be bought on amazon. We previously had the Fridababy one and it was a pain to clean so I wouldn’t recommend that one. For us in our room, we have a Leviot cool and warm mist humidifier that automatically adjust to the air…10/10. We only use purified water in our humidifiers.
r/NewParents • Do you use an air purifier/humidifier in your baby's room? ->We have a cool mist humidifier in our daughter’s room. It definitely makes a difference. r/NewParents • Do you use an air purifier/humidifier in your baby's room? ->There is no such thing as a maintenance-free humidifier, whether it’s evaporative, ultrasonic, or even steam, they all require regular cleaning or regular changing of filters (or sometimes both). Steam is less prone to mold, but also super hot, and is prone to scale buildup which still requires cleaning. I would suggest giving your current unit a thorough clean first to see if that solves the issue. We have a 6L LEVOIT (ultrasonic/cool mist) humidifier, and I check ours every couple of weeks. If I see the mold, wipe the affected areas down with vinegar and rinse. Hydrogen peroxide 3% works well if I really want to feel thorough. We also make sure to change out the filter as recommended or more often (you can buy them in bulk). We also run two Vornado evaporative humidifiers on the first floor of the house. Let me tell you, the wicks in those develop considerable mold, and we change them out once a month or sometimes more often. Regardless of humidifier the concept is the same. You have to take care of them no matter what you buy.
r/AskParents • Found pink mold on my old humidifier, looking for a cleaner, baby-safe option? ->Yeah, I have 6L Levoit and it's a pain in the ass to clean. I do it once a week.
r/Dryeyes • Humidifier recommendations? ->I use Levoit (got it on Amazon), it’s a top-fill, which is pretty convenient. Cleaning is a breeze too!
r/SkincareAddictionLux • Skincare adjacent—fave humidifiers for dry winter skin? ->I have a Levoit top fill humidifier. It’s super quiet with an adjustable knob for humidity levels. I used the filtered water on my fridge (personal preference) but think it would be fairly easy to clean periodically if tap water was used.
r/Buyingforbaby • Favorite humidifier that’s easy to clean, doesn’t puddle, does the job well, and is not loud ->[**I am loving my new misting humidifier**](https://www.reddit.com/r/Dryeyes/comments/1hllzos/i_am_loving_my_new_misting_humidifier/), was well received, so I'm following up with a comparison of the two humidifiers I've been using. (The comparison turned into quite the little science project, as you can see, but increased humidity has made my dry eye symptoms much better, so it seemed worth the time and worth sharing.) **In short, the Vicks steamer wins for me because it:** * Can humidify three times as well (and possibly more) * *Is* ***$13.50 a week cheaper to operate*** (because there's no heavy, expensive distilled water to buy and haul) * Can tolerate significantly less cleaning without becoming a health hazard However: * The hot steam the Vicks emits could be a concern for people with children or pets. * Having to plug in and unplug the Vicks because it has no power switch can be a real annoyance if you have to do it every day. |[Levoit Top Fill](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C2C9NHZW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1)|[Vicks Warm Steam](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000TN7ME?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title)|Comments| |:-|:-|:-| |Ultrasonic mister|Boiling water steamer|| |$29.99|$17.98|| |17 watts|I measured about 100 to 300 watts. r/Dryeyes • Side-by-side humidifier comparison: Levoit ultrasonic vs Vicks warm steam ->I’ve tried multiple and I feel like no matter what they get moldy🥲 best I’ve found is the Vicks 3-in-1, it serves us well when emptied and dried daily, and fully cleaned every few uses. Frida baby 3 in 1 immediately got moldy, as did our levoit top fill. But the ultimate winner is a whole home humidifier. We splurged($1000 for install and humidifier) because we have number 2 coming in August and I despise the upkeep of room humidifiers.
r/NewParents • Recommendations for a humidifier ->it’s okay! it works and does help with humidity but i wish it had a digital humidistat to turn it self off. the unit is also fairly large and i wish it was smaller. I also wish the tank was bigger as it’s kind of annoying to flip the filter and refill it everyday. I probably could do it every other day. I will say that the filter stays relatively clean after using the deminirlization tablets and aftermarket filter from amazon. Also being able to throw like most parts in the dishwasher is awesome for cleaning . comparing this to a previous levoit ultrasonic and i like that it’s way more healthy. No mold in tricky spots (yet anyway) and i feel like i can do an easier job of keeping it clean for my son. I do change the wick every 30 days as well .
r/BuyItForLife • Best humidifier? Enough for a regular size bedroom. ->I've researched this extensively and have a couple of different recommendations based on how high maintenance you want to get. If you want ultrasonic/misting humidifiers where you can see the mist coming out, you should use distilled water so it's not launching mineral deposits and contaminants into the air. My levoit works well and is easy to clean. If you want something you can just run purified/filtered or tap water into, you can get an evaporative humidifier. I have a Sharkzilla that works well and also a cheap one from Walgreens that works great. If you want to check how well they're working, you can get a hygrometer. I keep two in my place in different rooms. All the above I mentioned work really well. I'd clean with vinegar once a week and it's good to dry out the filter and swap with a different one once the water runs out. That will help with bacteria/mold.
r/Denver • Humidifier for room that actually works ->I just got a LEVOIT smart one so I don’t have to manually turn it on and off. AFAIK the only benefit of using distilled water would be less hard water build up inside. I don’t worry about that personally because you can just clean it with distilled white vinegar when the build up gets bad.
r/BuyItForLife • Advice on Humidifier ->I have a Levoit smart humidifier. It has an app where I can check the humidity and it turns itself on and off depending on the current room humidity. It was under $100.
r/AskChicago • Recommendations for a room humidifier? ->I have the same one. The app makes it super easy, you can also set it on a schedule.
r/AskChicago • Recommendations for a room humidifier? ->We have had the same Levoit for about 4 years now, and run it every day once we start using heat in the house. We like it because all the pieces that touch water come apart and can be cleaned, which we do about once a month. We also bought a distiller, which helps keep the mineral buildup down.
r/BuyItForLife • do all humidifiers suck?? need recs for one that’ll actually survive the winter ->I like Levoit as well.
r/IndoorPlants • Humidifier Recommendations? ->I’ve got a Levoit humidifier too, also live in a super hard water area. I only use distilled water in it to extend its lifespan and avoid having to descale reguarly. I always have distilled water in anyway for some of the more sensitive plants.
r/IndoorPlants • Humidifier Recommendations? ->I second Levoit. All 4 of my humidifiers are Levoit
r/IndoorPlants • Humidifier Recommendations? ->I swear by Levoit humidifiers. We have a smaller one in the bedroom and the big Oasis Mist in the living room.
r/SkincareAddictionLux • Skincare adjacent—fave humidifiers for dry winter skin? ->I have been through 5 humidifiers in the last 3 years, but my Levoit is going strong. I second this recommendation.
r/IndoorPlants • Humidifier Recommendations? ->At that price they won't be BIFL, but you can still get some decent stuff. Here's some options for the small room: [https://hiarthur.com/?share=32b1481c-32d8-49e0-8920-d721a2991666](https://hiarthur.com/?share=32b1481c-32d8-49e0-8920-d721a2991666) And here's some for the big room: [https://hiarthur.com/?share=af627ced-d4a3-4d79-948e-9673beb00d6b](https://hiarthur.com/?share=af627ced-d4a3-4d79-948e-9673beb00d6b) If you want it strictly under 150, you can get the Dreo combo. If you're willing to spend a bit more, get the Levoit - it'll be a big step up.
r/BuyItForLife • Cooling Humidifier recommendations ->I use a Levoit humidifier but I only use it because of my alocasia and lemon tree. My monsteras don’t care about humidity. I mist the leaves every other day just because. My local big box hardware store has huge evaporative humidifiers (much better than ultrasonic because you can use tap water) for $120. They use these wicking filters that are replaceable. It’s designed for a space 2,000 sq ft. That’s what I’ll be buying soon. It’s called Essecks Aircare. Vevor also has a commercial one for about $100. My small Levoit basically does nothing to change the whole home humidity. I have the vent port dumping directly onto my two needy plants. I’d get the Aircare if I was you. A small humidifier is almost $100 anyways.
r/Monstera • What humidifier is everyone using? ->I use a levoit and stick to distilled water and no problems so far! I also use stratia lipid gold + another layer of moisturizer on top. But I find that making sure you put a hydration layer BEFORE barrier repair + moisturizer is really important. I mist my face with Avene thermal spring water, and then apply 2 layers of K-Beauty toner to my face. While my face is damp, I’ll apply a hydrating serum. And then while my face is 50% absorbed of the hydrating products, I put stratia lipid gold + moisturizer on top. If I just use stratia lipid gold + moisturizer, my face feels tighter/dry in the morning.
r/SkincareAddictionLux • Skincare adjacent—fave humidifiers for dry winter skin? ->This. I don't have a washer and dryer hookup so bought a comfee portable washing machine that hooks to my sink and does an amazing job spin drying the laundry so I just hang them up to dry in my bedroom. Lately at night the humidity in my bedroom is 20-25% with my Levoit humidifier next to my bed. Do laundry and it'll jump to 60-70% for the night.
r/BuyItForLife • "Cheap", easy to clean, dumb humidifier(s) for 1024sqft apartment? ->And if you’re not looking to spend $400, Levoit makes a great room humidifier that doesn’t leak (like most cheaper models do). $30.
r/BuyItForLife • Room Humidifier Recommendations ->Would NOT recommend the above product! Me and my girlfriend purchased the same but ended up replacing it with a “levoit” which is 100x better.
r/askswitzerland • Anyone here uses a humidifier for these dry winter months? What are your experiences? ->Our Levoit was a headache the whole time between frequent cleaning and half the time it wouldn’t work (red light of death)
r/Humidifiers • Any recommendations for a humidifier that is easy to clean? ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS
