The Vic’s vaporizers are like 10 dollars and work very well. Mine is 5 years and still works great

My wife and I in western NY are suffering also. I've all-year allergies for most of my adult life, and she has some allergies too, BUT not as bad as me. I go through a box of kleenex tissues within a month. Finally got a Vicks 1.5gal humidifier. Within two days, wife reported her eyes don't itch anymore. Me, with my year-long allergies still use tissues everyday for about an hour's worth, BUT in a very small way, I do feel a tiny bit better, but still use eye drops for extreme dry eyes. We've had it about a month now and after reading about the dirt that forms and collects at the bottom, I will let it run as low as possible, then clean it out. It's worked so well, I purchased a tiny one that works for as long as 6hrs with auto-off when the water level is zero. VERY convenient as it sits in the bedroom, shooting a cool mist into the air! We use NO oils or anything in either. It does help!!! **Vaporizers produce moisture by heating small amounts of the minerals in the water using tiny electrodes in the shaft of the unit**. The minerals then heat the water to a boil and release steam into the air. This causes the minerals to collate (clump together) My wife reports after a few days of having the humidifier, her eyes aren't itchy any longer. My year-long allergies still continue. I DO see a very slight drop in tissue use, but the allergies do continue.

We have a huge mister - perhaps a 1.5 gal in the living room, that is warm. The much smaller one - a vick's - is in the bedroom. I only turn it on just before bedtime. As soon as it turns on, the cool mist starts! It also doubles as a night light too! Very soothing to see! I still get crunchy eyes, but not as often.

I've got your solution but you will have to trust me as apparently most people aren't aware of the product I am suggesting. They have been around for decades. Vicks makes a steam vaporizer. It is a simple container that has a heating element that you drop into an opening in the top. It BOILS the water creating STEAM which is bacteria free. Fill it with water and plug it in. You have to add a pinch of salt for most water conditions. You can vary the amount of steam by how much salt you add. At around $20 you can afford to throw it away and buy a new one if the heating element starts to disintegrate. I can maintain 50% humidity in my bedroom in the winter. You can buy this product at most pharmacies and of course on Amazon, Walmart, wherever.

Buy a Vicks steam vaporizer. All you do is fill it with water and add salt. You can vary the amount of steam by how much salt you add. They make a 1.5 gallon one that will last all night. They are inexpensive and I have been using them for over 30 yrs. The heating element will deteriorate over time. Just toss it and buy a new one when that happens.

No. Vicks makes a steam vaporizer. You can buy them on Amazon or any pharmacy.

I don't need a source. It's a STEAM vaporizer. Yes, it boils the water. It is nothing more than a container with a heating element dropped into it. It boils the water and you get pure steam. They have been around for decades.

Highly recommend this [Vick’s Warm Steam Vaporizer](https://a.co/d/4KOWya6). It’s super cheap on Amazon and does wonders for my nosebleeds and mine and my daughter’s eczema that inevitably pops up every winter. It boils the water so you get the same effect you’re trying to create with a pot of boiled water.

I have the Vicks warm steam 1.5 gallon humidifier. Probably cost $20. This bad boy can get my room from 20% humidity to 45% humidity in an hour and hold it there overnight (I also have an $80 humidifier I got for free that keeps track of the humidity, but the highest it can go is like 30% and it slowly drops down overnight. If I'm too lazy to refill both, I'll only refill the Vicks and just keep the fancy one on so it measures how well the other one is doing) I hate its shape. It's so bulbous and hard to carry. It's hard to find a spot to put it. Refilling it always leaves a puddle of water I need to clean up. There's no bells and whistles, no timers, no sensors. It does have a small spot to use VapoRub stuff in case you're sick but I've never used it. It's so inconvenient I keep wanting to get rid of it, but every time the temperature dips to single digits and the air is so dry I can't keep my eyes open, I drag it back in and set it up

Vicks salt ones (theyre basically a round tub with a stramer thing on the top that you plug in) don’t need a filter and seem to never die. We live in a city that gets real winter and we run two and theyre great.
