"the qc is still bad, both for iems, and cables."
"sub brand models like the qkz vk4 and cca cra also got downgraded after positive reviews"
Yeah, I’ve tried them both. When I bought my current IEMs (Moondrop Kato) a couple of years ago, I tried the Aria, the IE200, CCA CRA+, and the S12. The IE200 were the most comfortable, but they come with an awful cable and sounded worse than everything else I tried besides the CRA+. The Aria were more comfortable than anything else I tried besides the IE200, including the Kato that I ended up keeping and sounded better than everything except the Kato.
I had the og cra and cra+ in short worth the blind buy for bass head on a tight budget. Other factors can be a hit or a miss.
Downgrading PR2 was not deliberate but after running out of stock of certain component, due to unavailability KZ sourced the component from elsewhere which changed the whole tuning. Same thing happened with CCA. Their mistake is that they should have labelled PR2 to something like PR2 alternate version or some other name to notify customers that it's not the exact same PR2.
That's not true. No company world like to ruin their reputation by engaging in malpractices which would be obvious in the public. Not just that model but sub brand models like the qkz vk4 and cca cra also got downgraded after positive reviews and the qc is still bad, both for iems, and cables.
Are the tips for comfort or for sound quality? I've been pretty comfy with a default pair that came with my CCA CRAs, but open to suggestions. My experience with high end audio is exclusively with open ear headphones so I am completely lost here lol. Fwiw I've really enjoyed them and my wife's wen er 2s especially for the price and have a few more on the way. The price point on budget iems is low key dangerous for audiophiles!
I am currently using the CCA CRAs, and they've honestly served me great, but for music, I want something a lot better. Some of my favorite current artists are Aurora, Mitski, The Marias, Sarah Kinsley, but I really love orchestral music as well. I generally like a warmer sound signature where the bass isn't too overpowering. I also game a lot, but I really enjoy games with great music, so something that can enhance that would be amazing. Particularly Expedition 33! My current budget is $100 USD, but anything within $50 is fine. I've been recommended Hexas, T10s, Pure, but I was also wondering about the SuperMix 4s and EW300s. What is a good starter setup?
My first one, it just broke, it was the only one I had..... (My first one just broke, it was the only one I had...) CCA CRA Model
Personally, after I bought my Aful Performer 5, I didn't have any thought of getting another one. I've been through the hurdle of buying cheap IEMs under $30 (CCA-CRA, Wan 'Er, Wyvern Abyss), and after my third cheap IEM, I decided to just blow it on the Aful Performer 5 and it basically provides me with everything I need and it plays my entire catalog of music exceptionally. There are obviously going to be newer and better ones than the P5, but I find it satisfactory for now.
