The Hype 4 has indeed been garnering hype since they have been released. They are pretty V-shaped and while they would defianetly work for some libraries, they certainly would perform poorly on others. Its too sub-focused with vocals generally pushed back and even buried in busier tracks. The Da Vinci, with its dense sound signature, seems to outperform the Hype 4s in the vocals department but nothing else.

After spending some time looking at various IEM's around what would be considered the 'mid' price brackets, it seems you just can't win with everything (not even close). From needing to EQ various areas to try and get the sound you want through to lots of QC or design issues - even a lack of aesthetic choices. Example of IEMS I'd buy: Hype 4 - Shell itself and 2 pin connection issues. One owner clearly resorted to a gluegun being used to try and hold the connection in. Maybe a batch issue? EQ tweak fine. Dusk - 3.5mm EQ essential + new 3.5mm cable as the one provided wouldn't be out of place on a budget IEM, channel imbalance issues (notable if you look at frequency response - may not be always heard), resin cracking around 2 pin connection underneath the connector (not visible unless cable removed, likely to worsen over time) plus possible moisture issue (minor). Davinci - EQ essential due to bass. Size issue plus nozzle size issue at 6.7mm widest point (why not bond a nozzle on that's less wide?) Mega5est - 2 pin connector on shell possibly not fully flat resulting in the connection of normally left side constantly coming out slightly - reported here and on atleast one review that's even pictured. Unsure if design was revised and if this is a regular problem. Difficult or not possible to know if you would get a revised design when ordering online. EQ tweak fine.

It’ll depend a lot on the things you like in your music. The DaVinci and DosCinco are more forward with female vocals than the Performer 7 or the S08. S08 is a bit more forward than the P7. P7 is the most neutral of the bunch. Best bass is going to depend on what you’re specifically looking for. Sub bass rumble is probably best on the DosCinco, while the S08 has my favorite mid-bass punch. The DaVinci is nice, but can be a bit soft. The P7 sounds amazingly tight and accurate, but is lacking in intensity compared to the other three, which are much bassier. Cymbals your thing? The Performer 7 is airy and detailed and wonderful. The DaVinci is a close 2nd, but isn’t as smooth as the P7. I would say, if you want dynamic sound that makes those genres sound as exciting as possible, try and get the DosCinco on sale. It’s probably the best fit for Hip/Hop-Rap and Metal overall. The Performer 7 might be too neutral for your tastes, but it’s in my opinion, probably the most detailed and resolving of the bunch. The S08 is great as well, and might be the best value overall, but if you have the budget for the DosCinco and the DaVinci, then I would go for one of those. I personally prefer the DosCinco over the DaVinci, especially on sale. But if you’re sensitive to pressure issues or driver flex, I encountered driver flex on the DosCinco, but not on the DaVinci.

DaVinci at $299.99 You get some amazing accessories (case, ear tips [including S&S], cable with a swappable tip for 3.5 or 4.4), and some pretty decent IEMs. They are just a good value as a total package. I tend to like a warm neutral sound signature. They DaVinci works for me, and I generally don’t bother to EQ them. I also like that they don’t have a wifu.

I tried the DaVinci and didn't like it as much as my Blessing 3, but that's just preference. If you like rock and metal, DaVinci is an awesome choice. Bass hits deep, with decent impact and speed. Give it a little boost in sub-bass and it will produce banger bass, stick-to-your-ear deep bass. Very satisfying (a guilty pleasure since my ears cannot handle bass for long). Technicality is of course below Blessing 3, but not by a lot. Orchestral symphonies are still great, but as a detail-head I just need that extra clarity and separation of the Blessing 3.

DaVinci and B3 have similar price/performance, just different tuning styles. B3 wins hands-down on detail retrieval and clarity, while DaVinci runs circle around B3 when it comes to (sub) bass. I tried Monarch Mk2 for about 30 minutes and did not like it. The nozzles are enormous, very uncomfortable. Sound quality... is ok? Monarch didn't sound any more detailed than B3 - I couldn't really hear the praised macrodynamic. Tuning style is definitely more pleasant and ordinary. The bad fit really distracted me from enjoying it. Moondrop Kato and Truthear Timeless have similar level of technical performance - quite close to B3. Personally prefer Kato's more balanced signature. Hexa is a cheaper alternative, but it might sound a bit too neutral and thus boring (not necessarily a bad thing, easily fixable with EQ) Planar IEMs sound harsh on the treble, especially the S12 (I disliked it). I don't understand the hype around Truthear Nova and Simgot Supermix 4. I think the latter is fine for the price, about the same P/P as Kato; but Nova is just so blurry, subpar detail retrieval even when its bass is pretty light. Other IEMs under $150 are not interesting enough to me.

I particularly enjoy his tracks with female vocals like aLIEz and DARK ARIA and out of all my IEMs so far, I've enjoyed the Supermix 4 the best. (My IEMs are the SM4, DaVinci, MagicOne, Simgot EW300)

Had Odyssey, Dusks, Hype 4 and Davinci at the same time. What is left is Davinci. I love them. They just sounds right to me (with touch of warm), just like i would not wear iems at all. They have amazing scene and directionality. Dusks - too intense, Hype 4 - to much subbas, Odyssey- too much subbas and overall meh. I know that i can eq and I am doing it but eq is not always possible and i am seeking for most fitting me (sonically) base

I don't think Hype 4 is an improvement from P8. To me at least, Hype 4 is a terrible value set at $400. It has pretty bad bass dynamics in the sense that it's broad, boomy and undefined. It has bass but what bass it has doesn't sound nice. It's to the point where it crowds out other aspects of the IEM like technicalities and resolution. The mids are tuned already but it lacks texture to me and the treble is decent but can be harsh on a few tracks. It's just a very mid IEM overall and really only good until you've tried the competition. You can get the same performance as hype 4 from other IEMs like Doscinco, Cincotres or DaVinci which I all find to be on par hype 4 despite being cheaper. If you can find hype 4 on sale, they're not that bad but retail price, dont. These are just my opinions so your mileage may vary. A better IEM to me atleast would be Dusk or Pilgrim but I do have a liking to neutral-warm tuning. They knock it out of the park with their details, technicalities and overall how natural they sound. Extra points to Dusk DSP, honestly one of my favourite IEMs under $1000 and there not much room to upgrade from it but the DSP cable can be a deal breaker for some. Despite that, both are honestly Peak sets and I think they're very safe upgrades from any IEM
