Budget gaming pick, but poor cables and polarizing bass.

The DN142 is, IMHO, a perfect stepping stone up from the CrinEar Daybreak. If someone thought the Daybreak was boring, and lacking in flavor, the DN142 resolves all of that. The sub bass performance is just spectacular.
I really hope they reveal what driver they are using in the 142, and present it in other sets. It's special. I really want to see what more it is capable of. The 142 is super fun. Really enjoyable. Ita hard to not pick it for my daily.
My favorite iem at that price point is the dunu 142, those compete with items up to like 500 dollars
My personal favorite is the binary acoustics EP321 mems, or the dunu 142, the blessings 3 are good but honestly they are way too long in the tooth and there are so much better options these days.
Have sets up to 500 dollars, currently my favorite set is the dunu 142, at half that
At that budget I'd get the dunu 142, they are great
Totally agree. Just put the aful performer up against the Dunu DN142 and threw on Pneuma. Aful won hands down. Not an iem expert, but my ears work.
Mmk4 is fairly overrated, compared it side by side to my DN142, a bit smoother treble and micro details, but very very close. Not worth it for 5x the price.
Iems in general made me go okay i get the hype now i got into the hobby in july 2024 after coming from my wireless jbl 520bt to a dirt cheap kz castor i was so surprised that something 40$ cheaper sounds 10 times better later on i got the gate which to this day i think is one of the best 20 $ iems then i got the hexa tanchjim nora and currently my endgame is dunu 142 it sounds perfect for me i chased this sound for so long it reproduces every song so ideally that in my mind i have "thats how i want for my music to sound" also i bought a hifiman he-r9 so i could compare a normal headphones to iems as i always had bad headphones and hifiman her9 is on kz castor level no sense of depth coming from the drivers i wont talk about the tuning as its personal but the resolution also suffers even though that theyre bassy headphones gate reproduces punch of bass and texture better 20 vs 70 $ btw and i think that truthear gate are superior to them only thing thats better on her9 is soundstage its a bit wider even than my dunu 142 but separation and layering is on castor level once again
Hey guys, it's me, [Iceberg](https://linktr.ee/iceiceberg), and here's a **quick review** of the **Dunu 142** for **$249** with **1DD + 4BA + 2 planar drivers**. *Let's go!* The **Dunu 142** is the younger blue brother of the **fiery 242**, inspired by Ao Bing from the Ne Zha series. So, the **shells** are glossy dark blue, made by 3D printing in collaboration with HeyGears, so the **build** is monolithic, with no flaws. The **faceplates** have an oceanic texture and logo, with a **6.2 mm metal nozzle**, and after choosing the right tips, they **fit deeply and securely**, though sticking out a little. The **isolation** is average due to the large vent, but it's enough for most usage scenarios. >The **sound of the 142** is **super lively, emotional, and cohesive**, with a mild U-shaped presentation. This is a **sub-bass-oriented** **model**, and here it's powerful, deep, with a feeling of an underwater earthquake, while the **midbass** is controlled, punchy, but not dominant. >The **mids** are clean and natural, with a slight recess in the **lower mids** and a noticeable emphasis in the **upper mids**, so **vocals**, especially ***female vocals***, sound amazing - *emotional and articulate*. >The **treble** in the 142 is bright, sparkling, and very extended thanks to the planar drivers with air, micro-details, but without sibilants and almost never tiring with the right tips. >And the **soundstage** is moderately wide, with good depth and height, and the separation is average, but overall everything sounds musical, coherent and highly emotional. **TL;DR In conclusion** from Dunu 142, I was expecting simply good balanced sound, but unexpectedly got almost **endgame-level of immersion and enjoyment**. For this price (*$249*), this is one of the **most versatile and emotionally engaging options in early 2026**. Sure, it's not the most technical or neutral model, but it makes you want to listen to your favorite albums over and over again just to... enjoy the music. Overall, **my final rating** is **8.5/10**, and if you need one IEM for everyday use for anything and everything, whether it's *EDM, hip-hop, pop, or rock*, without any unnecessary fuss, then the Dunu 142 is a really solid choice. **Curious to FIND OUT more about the DUNU 142?
