"I have never enjoyed Bass so much."

"Sub-bass is an easy win for the Deuce. Much more authoritative impact (especially obvious on Redbone by Childish Gambino and Viagras Boys). ... FatFreq bass though.... is *hard*. Not that it's super loud. Just authoritative in a way that I haven't heard replicated by other IEM brands (and I've heard a lot). ... Kick drums have WAY more impact on the Deuce. Just hit hard with a THUD, where on the Davinci they bloom out in a way that sounds softer. ... No real sense of "boominess" - just great kick drum authority."

"If you want sub-bass, the Deuce is the one for you."

"A crazy all-rounder for the price. ... Probably in this price bracket, this is an easy top 5 for me!!"

"This is hands down one of the most surprising, punchy, exciting, and bassy IEMs I’ve heard in this price range. ... What makes it stand out is the perfect balance between sub-bass and treble. You get all the bass goodness without sacrificing clarity and I mean MASSIVE BASS."

"in that price range ($220) it eats up almost any IEM even some of the $400 ones."

"Deuce sub bass is there, but it doesn’t drown everything else out. Vocals and highs are very much present, same with mids."

"Classic FATFreq signature. It’s deep, thumpy, and perfectly balanced with the treble. No mids bleed, which is a huge plus. ... Pair them with a good DAC/Amp, and you’ll feel that spine-tingling “thrrr” rumble."

"The Deuce is a solid pick for you since you like the deep rumbling sub bass that doesn't necessarily eat the mids.... ... You will hear the sub-bass rumble without losing mids or highs."

"The fit is awesome however and one of the best I’ve found, very light and good contouring, does not stick out from ears."

"You'll have no problem with the deuce nozzles. They're; short so they don't need a deep fit. ... You won't notice they're huge."

"The Deuce are smaller and fit more snugly."

"Nahimic and Sonar: Perfect for gaming/calls/discord."

"I have also used the desktop headphone jack to listen to music, gaming and discord all at the same time and I am really impressed. ... Could hear each layer of sound from different channels perfectly audible. ... Im really impressed how well I can hear the subass/bass whilst listening to different audios at the same time..."

"I really love the Deuce, but that’s just for listening to music"

The Deuce is amazing. I sold all my other IEMs once I got the Deuce bc I knew they would never get time. Its very bassy but also very well balanced.

Imho hell no. The deuces are the definition of "only bass" nothing else. To put it into perspective, it's like a car that was built for top speed. It can't turn it can't accelerate but ut sure can hit a high top speed. It's an absolute one trick pony that did not take into consideration tor any other parts that a person might enjoy for music. That and their QC issues are one of the worst hence why I also do not recommend them

I would check out the FatFreq x HBB Deuce for a bassy set. Just a reminder, if you decide to buy it, get it from a third-party source, not from FatFreq directly, cause of bad customer service.

Try the Kiwi Ears x HBB Punch if you really like bass. Personally I like the Punch more then the Deuce tbf for bass, feels like it's more organized. But if you can, demo them at a local audio store or go to a local audio hangout event and try them out.

then deuce if you're a basshead. Odyssey is very lax and you can listen to it for hours without fatigue, you'd appreciate it more after hours of long listening sessions, I only listened to it for like 30 minutes and can tell it's very nice. But since you wanna avoid Ziigat, just grab the Deuce or P7, no opinion on the grit because haven't tried them.

I have the Deuce and its a great set but it's a resin shell. A part near the 2-pin connector cracked and I had to go down to their HQ to fix it.  So if you get a pair, you either have to know how to fix resin using glue. Or live near an IEM repair shop. I had my cable glued into the IEM so that it'll never come loose.  Cable is microphonic but in return you get great isolation.  I don't think 4.4mm has any audible benefits. Not just on this pair but in multiple headphones and iems. Just stick to 3.5mm so you have compatibility with all your gadgets.  FiiO K3 is fine to power these.

The body of the IEM. It cracked because the cable and 2-pin female connector was very tight. It's a fairly common problem for the Deuce. You can find it here on reddit.  I don't regret and enjoy my deuce a lot. But if durability is the main concern the Myer Audio SLIIVO SL-41 Mk2 is also bassy.

After a couple of months, I just received my FatFreq Deuce. Sadly I'm disappointed. Yeah, they're pretty bassy with the imedance adapter on, but it's mostly muddy and mostly sub-bass. Not much punch at all. Comparing side by side against my CCA Hydro Bass Edition (the black ones), I found them inferior in every way. And, yes, I tried some narrow bore tips (the Final Audio Type E that I use on my Hydros). They're pretty good, don't get me wrong. But for me, they're just not a match for the Hydros for clarity (across all frequencies), punch and growl. So far anyway. I'll keep testing (can't at the moment, 'cos I'm working), but first impressions are that I'll be selling them immediately. Lemme know if you have any questions. EDIT: Actually I was wrong! I don't know what I was hearing at work this morning, but I had a good listening session tonight, and the Deuce are, in fact, slightly better than the Hydro. They have ever so slightly more growl and punch, and less sibilance. Overall smoother. That's without the impedance adapter. With the adapter, they're a bit pillowy on most tracks. On some, the adapter adds some body and depth, but on most it's a hindrance. So... Apologies everyone for being hasty!

I have a 2 18 wall. Ive looked for everything outside of beats for years and have come up short.  Iems dont come close but you may want to look at the fatfreq x hbb deuce, kiwi x hbb punch, and theres a guy named phil who makes a "philphone", an open back with bass ($700ish). There's also fatfreq scarlett and maestro mini.  Otherwise the budget option is a truthear zero red with EQ. I just match my zero red to a deuce for my portable bass fix. The headphone with the most bass is discontinued, a jvc sz-2000. With heavy eq it can vibrate a sheet of paper.  Actually look at skullcandy crusher evos. Consumerism sound, probably bloated bass but lots of it.

The Deuce has massive sub-bass but pretty meh in mid-bass, so you're gonna get rumble but not too much thump. I believe endgame for most bassheads is the Kiwi x HBB Punch, it's awesome but may be out of your budget. It actually is pretty well balanced, even though you're getting large amounts of mid-bass and sub-bass. There's good vocal clarity due to branded Knowles BAs, along with shimmery highs due to branded Sonion ESTs. It's actually good value considering its driver configuration, despite being a bit pricey.

A tip (no pun intended) with the Deuce is that they are pretty tip-sensitive. I found it hard to get enough midbass without also making them shouty. I'm currently using Final Type E (black) tips which seem to balance things out the best for a proper basshead, non-fatiguing sound. The tips they come with are TRI Clarion, although some pre-orders apparently got limited edition red tips. The ones in your photo look like Clarions - they are a fairly distinctive bell shape that remind me of the *Peashooter* from Plants vs Zombies. You can get a pack of 3 on Aliexpress for about $3. Personally I'm not convinced they are the best choice for the Deuce, because they tend to reduce the sub-bass a bit and raise the treble, whereas Final Type E do the opposite (although they boost the midbass and low-mids more than the sub-bass). That said, the exact effect any tip has will vary a bit from person to person. With the size of the nozzle on the Deuce there are only a couple of tips that technically fit properly, namely the Clarions and Spinfit CP-155. But most tips will fit, they just take a bit of effort to get on. The only ones I know will not stretch that wide are Dunu Candy.

Also in order to keep in mind your interest in gaming i think the sm4 is the best choice , ( deuce awful for competitive gaming but very immersive for single player) sm4 is kept in very much good consideration for footsteps etc etc. i have the EM6L and i have to say simgot has got better at lowering that annoying 5k and raising bass response.

The Punch and the Deuce are in the true basshead category. FatFreq has other sets, but they’re more expensive than the Deuce, which is sort of their “entry level”, and get up in price to the Punch, if not more.

Usually I’d agree with you. I like my $8 Apple dongle. But this is a 2DD isobaric setup with a “bass boost” impedance adapter which I believe is 15ohm. I’ll assume the Deuce itself is 32ohm. So you’re looking at 47ohm impedance. Even with a sensitivity of 105dB Vrms, to get 110dB loudness to allow for headroom, you need 67mW of power. That’s beyond a $10 dongle. As I pointed out, a KA11 dongle can deliver enough power (220mW@32ohm rating, cut it down for the higher impedance it should still suffice), but I bet these are more like easy to drive headphones than sensitive IEMs. And if you’re going for loud basshead, a 30mW dongle won’t do it. You can try, and it depends how loud you like to listen, but the Deuce is more demanding than the average planar driver, certainly with the bass booster they give you, which people overestimate, as I can drive an S08 at comfortable listening levels with a 31mW Apple dongle. But people will insist you need more power, even though if you calculate the requirements based on the specs given, there no need for some 300mW output to listen to an average planar. As I originally posted, I can’t find the actual specs on the Deuce. But I do believe if you throw that impedance adapter in to give you a further boost in the bass, which a basshead will no doubt want to do as it’s the whole point of the IEM, you likely are exceeding what a generic supermarket dongle can provide.

Did you buy the cable? Be aware not all 2 pin cables fit the Deuce. If pins are not long enough, they won’t fit. Ask first the manufacturer or someone who have this combo. I broke my Deuce because of the cable, the fine piece of resin around the connectors broke when I pulled the stock cable. But it keeps functioning properly. I don’t use the stock cable, i don’t like it at all. I am using Hola’s cable and I am thinking about buying NiceHCK red lava. Or the black cable from FatFreq. I use Divinus Velvet wide bore and they are very comfy. Have you tried those? I am not bass head but I really like this set. It made me jiggle the first time I used them 😄 because of the amount of bass. They are fun and clear Edit: oh and the impedance adapter made them worse for my ears. I use the impedance adapter for my Blessing 3 😄☺️

Yes the cable doesn’t hold if the cable is like the black one. The stock one holds fine. The broken resin doesn’t change the sound. That’s the good thing. I recently got the fatfreq deuce as my first over $100 iems (had blon 3 and moondrop aria). The sub bass definitely rumbles but I'm kinda disappointed as they sound rather veiled or maybe a tad muddy to my ears. The tips seem low quality as well and I'm having trouble with the seal. While the bass is somewhat impressive, I'm just not feeling these. Is this just how iems are? I'm looking at the Thieaudio Hype 4 or the Xenn mangird tea pro as replacements. I love bass but would prefer more clarity/detail/separation as well. Will mostly be running off Spotify phone app with Qudelix 5k (LDAC) for EDM, hip hop, rock, and jazz. For reference I regularly use and love the 6xx and Arya stealth (eq'd). When on the go I use Galaxy buds+ but would like to change that to iems. Has anyone here heard all the deuce, the tea pro and the hype 4? Or tea pro and hype 4 that can share comparisons? Other suggestions under 400usd are welcome as well.

Appreciate the detailed response. I'm starting to think something is wrong with my pair. Feels like 75% of the bass is coming from the right side. I'm also having some fit issues even after switching to the large tips. It sounds better when I hold them in but still get the perceived channel imbalance. I haven't experienced that with other headphones so I don't think it's my ears. Probably going to go for the tea pros.

Ive spent some hefty change on chasing a neutral TECHNICALLY better sound and was pretty sad about how much of my music sounded de-energized, looking at tubes and stuff to get some bass back or anything to fix it I started looking at closed backs and iems. I just recently got my fatfreq deuce and I can't praise them enough. I literally don't want to take them out of my ears. And I can't really find a downside to them. They keep pretty much everything sounding more than respectable. Every review I've seen said the same and maybe it's deep research bias but these just murder without any consequences. Easy way to describe them is speakers with a separate sub sound. Not bleeding into each other but the sub is definitely at least as loud as everything else

TLDR: My ideal IEM would be Tea Pro with an HBB bass/sub-woofer. Would Kiwi Punch satisfy that? Any input would be greatly appreciated! I'm new to IEM space. I honestly went with Mangird Tea Pro as my first IEM for both music and gaming. I am undoubtedly a bass heavy person but the Tea Pro's have opened up my 'mind' with incredible detailing and separation within music/songs i've never thought of nor imagined was present. I feel my ideal IEM would be the Tea Pro with an HBB bass/sub-woofer. From my understanding, the 2 BA's handle the mids/treble so i'd assume that would bring out the separation and detailing of music. While the DD being in control of the sub-woofer bass? I've tried the FatFreq x HBB Deuce. I LOVE THE BASS it hits on there. But I don't feel the same qualities and detailing I get from the Tea Pro. Bass on Tea Pro is pretty good imho. But I never knew an IEM could create such an invigorating bass feel. Bass to me sometimes brings out the 'hype' or this 'compelling' feeling to me. I've read other reviews stating that the driver combination with HBB brings out the 'emotion' in the music? Which really piqued my interest. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Origin would be the most desirable on that list. I would say the scarlet has more bass but more isn't necessarily better. Origin would be an overall better iem as it's more of an open stage and quality of bass more than just non stop thumping. You could always just get a deuce at $300 and that would curb most of your bass needs. I've yet to tune the Geminis to the max yet, as soon as I found the best eq for it, I just left it there. I haven't heard the maestros yet so can't comment on that.

I preordered direct and eventually got it. The rollout for the deuce has been a disaster. I got it in October, but there are folks still waiting. It’s a solid set. you have to be careful with changing cables. I changed cables before I heard about the problem with the two pin connection. I got lucky. The bass is great. definitely not an all rounder, but mids and treble are solid. Good soundstage. You should check [HBB’s thread on hifiguides](https://forum.hifiguides.com/t/bad-guy-good-audio-reviews-a-million-views-part-3-4/43248/3537). Fatfreq has stiffed some stores as well as customers. Hey Guys! It’s been a month since I got my Deuce, and I’ve been itching to share some honest thoughts after giving these bad boys a proper listen. This is a big one for me, my **first solid basshead set**, my **first blind buy**, my **first FATFreq product**, my **first HBB product**, my **first collab-based IEM**, my **very first review**, and my **first impressions of the FATFreq x HBB Deuce.** So yeah, a ton of “firsts” here. Where do I even start?Am I a basshead? Not really. But I’ve tried enough IEMs to know what a proper bass set feels like, and for me, the Deuce absolutely qualifies. For those who just want the TL;DR, here it is: **This is hands down one of the most surprising, punchy, exciting, and bassy IEMs I’ve heard in this price range.** What makes it stand out is the *perfect balance* between sub-bass and treble. You get all the bass goodness without sacrificing clarity and I mean MASSIVE BASS. The mids? Well-balanced and surprisingly untouched by that insane FATFreq bass flavor (no bleeding). If you have tried their Scarlett mini then I would sort of consider the Deuce to be a mini version but with smoother treble. Definitely a bang for buck !!! # Highlights **1.** **Noise Cancellation** The passive noise isolation is surprisingly good, thanks to the stock tips. But this might vary depending on how they fit your ears. For me, I prefer the smallest tips for a snug fit. **2. Tips** The stock tips are comfortable, but I find foam tips more suitable for long sessions. I currently use the Symbio W (Silicone + Memory Foam) and Galaxy Buds Pro foam tips. I recently ordered the Sony EP-TC 50 (fingers crossed they fit, as they’re wide-bore). * With the stock tips, I managed 6–8 hours of use with 5 hours of ideal listening and 2-3 hours of listening while working out. They tend to get uncomfortable while working out especially during cardio sessions. * Foam tips lock in better for me and feel significantly more comfortable during extended use (though this is subjective). **3. Build Quality** Here’s where the Deuce really shines: * The blood-red cables? Gorgeous. They’re a bit on the heavy side, but damn, they look good. * The shell design is sleek, with a black finish and marble-like grey accents. Super smooth, smudge-proof, and just classy. * Universal fit feels comfortable and doesn’t stick out as much as I thought it would. * The cables are a pain to remove, though. I’m thinking of grabbing the Yongse Venom cables, but honestly, the stock red ones are sick! * The casing that comes with the Deuce is super fine, but it’s hella small. They fit, sure, but I really wish it were bigger... **4. Sound Quality** Now for the main event: * **Soundstage:** Just wide enough to hit that sweet spot—not too narrow, not too wide. Just wide enough to catch those subtle front-left, front-right as well as the center details. * **Treble:** Silky smooth warm analogue goodness. You can still hear every bit of raspiness, even in hip-hop tracks * **Bass/Sub-bass:** Classic FATFreq signature. It’s deep, thumpy, and perfectly balanced with the treble. No mids bleed, which is a huge plus. These need **power** to shine. Plugging straight into your phone or desktop won’t do them justice, even with the bass adapter. Pair them with a good DAC/Amp, and you’ll feel that spine-tingling “thrrr” rumble. ***Pro tip:*** *The bass adapter is fun, but sometimes it’s too much. Even with it, the treble holds its own (shoutout to HBB’s tuning).* **5. Tuning/EQ** Now generally the Deuce, really doesnt require Eq-ing atleast for the purpose I have purchased it for: * For indie pop and rock, I made minor adjustments to the mids especially the upper * For genres like drum and bass, EDM, and hip-hop, the Deuce doesn’t need any EQ tweaking. * I personally like the PEQ tuning by Ducbloke, which improved high frequencies and midrange. * I used the Deuce with BTR15, and wow, it makes a huge difference in sound quality delivering the power that it needs. For EQ, I use Nahimic, SteelSeries Sonar, and APO Equalizer….each one is great for specific use cases. * Nahimic and Sonar: Perfect for gaming/calls/discord. * APO: Unbeatable for music. * I also tested Wavelet on my OnePlus 7T Pro. Wish iPhone had a proper EQ which is why I’m seriously considering getting the Qudelix 5K. # Conclusion: I’m so glad I picked these up based on HBB’s recommendation and looking forward to more of his collabs and already considering the Punch. All-in-all, The Deuce has been an absolute banger!! ***P.S.:*** As a photographer, I couldn’t resist snapping some shots of this beauty with my **Sony A7C (35mm f/1.8, film lens)** and **iPhone 14 Pro Max.** They look just as stunning as they sound!

Well I haven't tried any except the Deuce and I own one and I can tell you, there isnt a day I am bored of them. Super punchy, the rumbling feeling from the subass is just addciting, and the bass slams onnn with the impedance adapter that is included with the IEMS. The treble was a suprise to me. God damn crystal clear and just overall a great all-rounder for the price. Grand maestro is goated. I’d pick that over the Z1r considering both as benchmarks. The fit, the modules, the rumble feeling just hits special on the GM. I recently bought the FatfreqxHBB Deuce and in that price range ($220) it eats up almost any IEM even some of the $400 ones. The bass is absolute sensational. You could also look into the Hisenior - Mega5EST Bass+ and Thieaudio MK2. I have tried these and can def vouch for it. But for bass I can’t suggest any other than Fatfreq since they specialize in bass. Their lineup from Scarlett mini to Maestro mini are spot on !!

Not sure if you have already bought it, but my experience with them has been crazy. The bass not only slaps it rumbles. I truly enjoy them, especially when I listen to old-school hip-hop. rap, DnB, Metal. But they do require power. The K3 are decent; they can push well at 80% I believe. I have tried them using K3. But I needed LDAC for around same price so bought myself a BTR 7 and they do a fantastic job.

I forgot to add that, having tried several IEMs and owned 3, namely Tangzu Warnr's, Kiwi ears Quartet and now the FatfreqxHBB Deuce all under $250, and also having tried IEM's worth $400-$500, I must say that with Deuce I really had a a mind blowing expereince. I have never enjoyed Bass so much. Super exciting, excellent trebles and mids. A crazy all-rounder for the price. Probably in this price bracket, this is an easy top 5 for me!!

I have the Davinci and Deuce. I would 100% go with the Deuce based on your description. The Davinci sounds kinda low-res to me in comparison to how it should (for the price). People that really want the Davinci tuning should pay the extra $50 and get the Xenns Tea Pro instead. Just don't buy the Deuce from the manufacturer. Go with Linsoul, Hangout, or Bloom.

Fatfreq Maestro Mini might fit the bill if you can find it for a good price. The Deuce is fantastic, but the bass shelf cuts off lower (trying to keep mids as clean as possible), so it's not as easy to recommend for general bass-head use. Thieaudio Origin is probably the end-game basshead set at the moment (without going into the $3-4k range). Tea Pro is EXCELLENT. I prefer it to the Davinci due to its higher perceived resolution and detail retrieval. It's more of an all-rounder+bass rather than true basshead set. EDIT: I wish I could say something about the Punch, but I've never heard it. Many have called it a "baby Oirign" which, if that's the case, it would match what you're asking for.

If you like midbass, avoid the Fatfreq Deuce - It's primarily a sub-bass iem. How willing are you to use equalization? There are some IEMs that can take a stupid heavy bass shelf that are well, well under $300. First one that comes to mind is Fiio FD15, it's got a goofy 13.8mm dynamic driver that takes EQ extremely well for how large the shell is. However, if you're not willing to use EQ, it's only gently warm tilted, so not a first line recommendation. If you don't mind me asking, what have you tried before, IEM-wise, and what were their shortcomings on the upper end? I know most IEMs provide OK bass, but it's not really a huge quantity, so let's focus on things like mids and treble if you can.

Pardon my rambling. I'm kind of jumping around topics. Deuce does take EQ well, but make sure your source is clean. High output impedance will affect the bass - that's how those impedance adapters work. Deuce is a twin dynamic driver IEM with a woofer driver that primarily works under 300hz. Planar iems like the 7hz Timeless and related Shuoer S12 have *very fast* bass that doesn't hit extremely hard for how it graphs. The attack and decay is nearly instant, which is good for really busy music, but given your artists & genres it's not something to think about too hard. I've got a Tangzu Zetian Wu, which is from the same generation, and it doesn't hit as hard as my Kailua, which is a twin dynamic with a similar subwoofer crossover as the Deuce. They graph almost the same in the bass - that is, the Kailua and the Zetian Wu. Also, the shell is huge on Deuce. Make sure you're willing to sell it if it doesn't turn out as expected. It's even bigger than the Zero Red in my experience. What else to consider... most IEMs with a reasonably large driver or center dome should give you the expected punch/kick from EQ. Given you're willing to EQ to get what you want, Deuce and FD15 should be high up on the list. **Given you are willing to buy used**, you should check out the Sony XBA-N3 - My favorite high bass IEM, period. It's really, really good out of the box. "N3AP" is a 3.5mm termination and "N3BP" is 4.4mm pentaconn. I mostly listen to things like happy hardcore, DnB, and 90's Jungle - but I also dabble in jazz & symphonic poems. It can handle all of those. Just keep in mind not to lose the tuning foams in the nozzle...! They're hard to find. Good luck out there! It's tough finding an IEM that hits hard as one would really enjoy.

Deuce is 32ohm @ 116db/mw I believe - a Qudelix shouldn't run short on power. It's about as powerful as your average chinese dongle off the 3.5mm. If you're worried, grab a 2.5mm cable for it. Deuce got hilariously loud for me off of Fiio's JA11, but I also can't really handle much above 80db because of midrange/treble stuff. I have to go to concerts with Etymotic earplugs, which drop things by about 25db. I haven't been able to try them side-by-side, but I'll do my best to compare. The XBA-N3's midbass slam & punch is monstrous for what it is. It's stronger than *any* iem I have tried to-date and keeps up even with heavy midbass flathead earbuds like TGXEar's Serratus and Tantalus, even if I apply bass shelves to those buds. Deuce tapers off *completely* by 200hz normally, even with the 15ohm adapter. The modest (5db-ish) reduction in pinna gain - that is, 2 to 4 khz for most iems - *enhances* this effect. Let's talk subbass for a second - N3 is nuts. Go [check out this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8PeEalai1w&t=30s), I added a timestamp to the link for you to test it. There's a modest rumble effect from 30-40 seconds that increases in volume at 40 seconds. On both the Deuce and the N3, I can *feel* this. It's not just a sound that's made in my ears, but like over-ear headphones I can genuinely feel a little bit of it. The difference is that Deuce has like 5db more of it without the adapter, so comparatively speaking I'm getting a very similar effect out of N3 with much less actual sub. Finally, the N3's treble driver is a balanced armature. It's a *really, really fancy* Sony super-tweeter. It's sooooo smooth. There's no sharp peaks in hihats or anything like that. Deuce has a couple peaks for me. This means I can crank the volume if I really, really wanted to - though I usually don't \^\^;;

The Deuce is a solid pick for you since you like the deep rumbling sub bass that doesn't necessarily eat the mids....great pick for hip-hop and electronic-heavy music. As for the comparison with the Skullcandy set you have, The Deuce is going to be way cleaner with no distortion when you push the bass. You’ll hear the sub-bass rumble without losing mids or highs. Crushers smear details a lot, whereas the Deuce keeps everything relatively crisp.

Other suggestions based on your frequency preference. Prices listed are for new, so should be cheaper used: Aful Explorer (really great for the $100ish price) Letshouer S08 ($89) I would recommend spending a tiny bit more and get: Zigaat Odyssey ($199) FatFreq Deuce ($239 - amazing balanced bass set) Since you love bass I think you'd be happiest with the Aful Explorer or FatFreq Deuce. These sets also have darker treble for treble sensitive listeners (like me). I'd say the Explorers have the warmest treble, but is very smooth. The Deuce has great balance between bass and treble, doesn't feel like the bass muddies the vocals. I have all the above sets and they are all great choices.

The Deuces should be a great fit for you—deep, rumbling sub-bass without muddying vocals, perfect for hip-hop and synth-heavy tracks. Compared to the Crushers, expect way better detail, separation, and no distortion even at high volumes. The Fiio K3 will work, but a slightly stronger portable DAC like the Qudelix 5K or iFi Go Link might be better. 4.4mm balanced gives more power and slightly cleaner sound, but it's not a must-have. If you're all about bass with clarity, the Deuces are a solid pick over the Doscincos. Keep an eye on classifieds for deals! Hope this helps!

If you want sub-bass, the Deuce is the one for you. My suggestion would be to order directly from FatFreq. If the conversion works in your favour, you can ask them to charge you in Singapore Dollar and have your credit card do the conversion. I find the online retailer they use charges quite a bit. I'm from Canada, and I saved a couple of bucks on my pair this way. I haven't heard the Punches, but anything HBB will have better bass. I hear the Deuces do require a bit more power, but you can get away with a standard USB dongle. I have both Questyle M15i and Qudelix 5K, and the M15i sounded way better. Sure, I can EQ with the 5K, but I prefer not going that route.

I’m a basshead and I don’t regret purchasing the Deuce. Fat Freq knows bass and they deliver with their Maestro series. I own the GMs myself and wanted a daily driver/travel IEM. The Deuce fit the bill. I’m rocking the Questyle m15i, as per FF’s suggestion for the GM, and I’m using that for the Deuce. If it’s out of budget for you, I hear the Onix Alpha XI1 is very similar to the m15i. As for the cable, I just rock 4.4mm since the m15i supports it, but you should be fine with 3.5mm. Tips also play an important role. I find the Spinfit W1 were the best for my ears, as it preserves the bass. FYI, I consider myself as an amateur audiophile and started exploring IEMs just over a year ago. However, every car that I owned had a car audio system and I learned that I prefer sub bass over punchy bass. As you mentioned, sub bass just adds another depth to songs. The samples below were tested with the setup I mention above. The included impedance adaptor was not used. While this adds more sub bass, I think it’s a bit too much most of the time. It’s fun to use once in a while. The songs below are either WAV files from CD rips (flac isn’t supported on most of my devices), and Qobuz streaming. And yes, I can tell the sound difference between Spotify vs Qobuz. I love Pyramids and I use it a lot to test bass. While this song tends to rattle all the loose plastic parts in my car, the Deuce is just clean bass. It doesn’t overpower the song, it enhanced the experience. Pilot Jones is another great example. At the 0:42 mark, the sub bass hits like butter. Summertime Magic by Childish is a great track as well. In my car, I never really gave it a chance. However, with the GM and Deuces, I’m hearing things I’ve never heard before and the sub bass…smooth. Cruisin is also a great track. Kendrick…all songs sound amazing with the Deuce I don’t listen to Travis, but I’d did check out Apple Pie. The piano is prominent, sub bass is a little tame (compared to Summertime Magic) but you can feel it at the 0:39 mark. Ok Alright has more sub bass that you can feel. Just listened to K-POP and the sub bass is fantastic. Other songs that I used to test the Deuce: Angel - Massive Attack (classic bass tester) Kill Jill - Big Boi On My Level - Wiz Khalifa Worldwide Choppers - Tech N9ne Get Low - Lil Jon (Yeah!) Lemon - NERD Fly Away - Flatbush Zombies (tons of sub bass) Partition - Beyoncé What’s the Use? - Mac Miller Trap House 3 - Gucci Mane telepatia - Kali Uchis Focus - H.E.R. The Light of an Egress - City Girl (Lo-fi) Good luck with your future purchase. I’m sure a lot of people will suggest other IEMs to you and make sure you do your research. While the FFs were blind buys, I did months of research before giving them my money and I don’t regret it at all.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I do, and everyone else who owns/got a chance to try them. Just looking back at your original posting, I’ll try my best to answer some of them. 1. I haven’t tried the Fiio K3, but it should drive the Deuce. I also own a Qudelix 5K for my Fiio FH3, and I tried it on the Deuce. I prefer the Deuce/Questyle setup and might sell the 5K. Plus, I’m not that into EQing. If you are looking to get another dac/amp, I suggest you reaching out to FatFreq directly (they are super helpful) and ask them what their suggestions are. 2/4. Skullcandy Crusher - I’ve never tried these, but it looks like the bass is produced via haptic motor. While cool, it’s not the bass I’m a fan of. I love the body feeling bass, but I also need that feel of pressure of air moving. I value my ears so I don’t crank up my IEMs, but when I did I heard no distortion from the Deuce. I’m sure the dac/amp and source played a part in that. 3. I understand that it’s a bit confusing, but you shouldn’t over think it. This is the same for cables. If your current or future dac supports 4.4mm, why not use it. Like I mentioned previously, I typically use 4.4 balanced since my dac/amp supports it. It could be placebo, but since it’s there I might as well utilize it. If you want options, you can get cables with interchangeable tips. I believe FatFreq also sells them for the Deuce. There are benefits to 4.4mm, but that’s dependent on the dac/amp or dap you’ll be using. Primarily, 4.4mm provides more power. Example: 3.5mm on my m15i, 60 would be a comfortable listening volume. 4.4mm, 30 is my comfortable listening volume. 6. Deuce sub bass is there, but it doesn’t drown everything else out. Vocals and highs are very much present, same with mids. It’s the FatFreq magic. 7. I’m also an overthinker. Since this is your first IEM, and a somewhat pricey one, it’s totally understandable. All I can say is if you have doubts, do more research. I had a tough time with the Deuce when it wasn’t released. I waited for a few reviews before I made the decision to buy them. I feel you and I have similar thoughts on how we feel about bass and share similar taste in music. I have a feeling you’ll enjoy the Deuce, but I am also aware that my ears and sound preference could be different than yours. Just don’t be mad at me if you don’t end up liking them. 8. I ended up ordering mine thru FatFreq directly. While most people will tell you to avoid that route at all cost, I had no issues for the delayed shipment. They are a small team and I prefer to support business directly if possible. Since I live in Canada, it was also cheaper for me. I asked them to charge in Singapore dollars and let my credit card do the conversion (I saved around $100 this way). It would’ve been more expensive if I ordered from a US store and get it shipped to Canada. If you do go with the Deuce, let me know what you think.

After trying multiple iems, I’ve narrowed down my favorites to these ones. 1. Simgot EW300 Hbb - Honestly these will be more than enough for 95% of people, at first I thought these were just ok but after a/b ing the 3, they hit way higher than their pricing suggests. Basshead levels and clarity with the planar. Fit is ok very small and slim but flat shape no contours. Very easy to drive from mobile no dac needed. 2. Fatfreq Deuce - Yes the sub bass is insane on these but have no good weight to the mids so for vocals and non bassy songs, this Iem might be a little lacking. The fit is awesome however and one of the best I’ve found, very light and good contouring, does not stick out from ears. Subwoofer levels of bass and the tips included are one of the best I’ve encountered so far. Not sure what style this is called and I’m looking to buy similar ones aftermarket, any suggestions? They are slightly hard to drive but dongle dac should be fine. 3. Kiwi Ears Punch - These are very good as everyone else has said but I’m not honestly not sure it’s worth the giant price jump from the EW300. First these iems are very large and stick out from your ears, they have a good shape but over time they don’t stay in position as well as the other two. The mid bass is definitely improved quite well over the deuce but sub bass doesn’t hit as strong in my opinion, treble is definitely better. Compared to the EW300 however the differences are very hard to discern, after using the right tips on the EW300 these two iems sound so close to me, my amateur ears can’t hear a noticeable improvement. 🤷 TLDR - Simgot EW300 more than enough with right ear tips

I will be downvoted for this but I vote the deuce too and you can even find a used set of Scarlet Mini just under 500 bucks.

You are correct. I have a number of mid-fi sets. My most recent addition is fatfreqs deuce. The delays regarding its release as well as the lies from fatfreq themselves became an absolute nightmare. That being said, it was all worth it afterit arrived. I love this set! Never before have i heard anything remotely like it. My current lineup are hype 4, juzear 61t butterfly, MP145, Dynaquattro, sm4, pula 02, 7hz five, CCA hydro, & artti t10. I know the end of my list isn't considered mid-fi but I still give them some ear time. I've been considering tea pro, pilgrim, aful 5 +2, mirai x, performer 8, penon fan 3, isn h60, dusk 2, few from ziigaat, hbb punch, juzear 81t, mega5est bass, SA6 mkll, and em10. That's just what i can think of off the top of my head. There are many more out there i know almost nothing about but people are raving over. No, these don't all have a similar tuning but they have appeal to me for one thing or another. For example est or bc drivers. Guess ill continue to watch the prices and the reviews. I'm sure something will go on sale that stands out to me during black Fridays sale. Thanks for giving me another set to put on the list.

If you’re not too convinced with Ziigaat (even though I’d highly recommend the Odyssey, they are great for vocals; but that might not necessarily what you’re looking for) then the Performer 5+2 is a very good option. I have the Odyssey, Performer 5+2 and the Deuce. I really love the Deuce, but that’s just for listening to music, not gaming. Your instinct might be right where the huge bass impact might be over shadowing the micro details a bit. For detail retrieval, the Performer is a solid choice! They are quite balanced (so don’t expect a big bass impact, but I guess you weren’t), but I’d recommend this set any day!
