"The FIIO FH3 were disappointing to me, anyone talking sounded like they came were using a Campbell's can with a string attached as a microphone."
I. Am in the same situation as yours. FH3 and Ibasso it00 owner. Looking to upgrade, came to finalists 2. Martilo and Davinci. Deuce is more on the sub bass side but have to compromise with mids as I judge. So one time big purchase for basshead I will be selecting between these 2. Had an eye on tea pro. But I guess I am addicted to rumbling bass and natural mids.
r/iems • Bassy IEM - What do I pick? ->I currently own the FH3, which was my first IEM bought around 3 years ago. Recently gotten back into this hobby with Simgot EW300 and Letshuoer S08 in my collection. So I can only give you my experience with these 3 To me the FH3 sounds neutral-ish with slight bass boost. It can rumble sure, but you need a really good seal to notice them. Mid bass is slightly lacking the thump. Vocals are fairly forward and balanced. Treble is toned down making it not that sparkly. For accessories it comes packed with eartips so you can find your ideal fit. The pouch is decent and cable is nice but I wished it had a 4.4 option because when I swapped them to one, I can hear the details slightly better and soundstage opens up a little. One thing that stood out is definitely the fit. They are really comfortable! Passive noise isolation isn't as great (but so as the other two). Not to say the EW300 and S08 isn't comfortable, but I can listen with FH3 for a longer period without soreing my ear canals. Probably because they have smaller nozzle? Compare to my other two IEMs. To me EW300 and S08 sounds wayyy better. EW300 has better clarity and sounds more exciting. Some sibilance and female vocals can be a bit shouty (adding a foam to the silver nozzle really helps with the issue). S08 sounds warmer, treble is laid back but since the detail retrieval is so good I can still hear micro details unlike FH3 (had to really focus to hear them) All these are bassy according to many reviews, though not to basshead level. But I definitely prefer the slam on the newer models. TLDR: The newer models sounds "clearer" and has better bass Hope this helps! ☺️
r/iems • Are FiiO fh3's still worth buying? ->If you like solid bass and decent mids that don't sound like they're coming out of a tin can, the simgot ew300 have been my favorite so far. Bought some so that I don't wear over ear headphones majority of the time when playing anything and have it pushing on my hair. The FIIO FH3 were disappointing to me, anyone talking sounded like they came were using a Campbell's can with a string attached as a microphone.
r/iems • I just got an IEM but I find no significant difference? ->God I hated that IEM. It's so damn bright. I literally reviewed it yesterday. Then again, you may be right in that is the best Fiio has to offer. I love that little pouch that comes with the FH3. It's adorable.
r/iems • What are the best Fiio IEMs you have tried? ->Fiio FH3 is my go to for any bass heavy music. They have amazing deep/mid bass extension that does not not bleed into the mids, but it thumps. Vocals are crystal clear, and the treble is sparkly without being fatiguing. I think they run around $100, but you can go on eBay and purchase them for around $70. I would consider them the funnest IEMs I own.
r/iems • Best IEMS for dubstep/edm 100$ and under ->I've had them for a few months and they are my favorite IEMs for AAA video games. They do not collapse in the face of chaos and resolve all frequencies very well. They cost me €150 and now they are for €100. They are a bargain.
r/iems • Are FiiO fh3's still worth buying? ->Fiio FH3. It's old but has the best mid bass slam I've ever heard in any IEM.
r/iems • IEMs with the tightest bass? ->My favorite IEM (so far) is the Fiio FH3. To see if I could improve upon its sound, I recently bought a bunch of other cheap ones for comparison. These include Simgot EW300, Tangzu Wan'er SG2, Truthear Gate etc. All of them sound thin, boring, lifeless in comparison. I think it's mainly due to the bass. When I listen to these other ones, I can sometimes hear the bass, but I can't feel it. When using the Fiios, I feel it. It makes me bop my head to the music. So now I'm looking for an actual upgrade to my Fiios. Right now I'm using these with a bit of a boost to the pinna gain (+3-4db in the 4k frequency and a reduction of treble (-10db high shelf after 10k). I'm debating between: 1. ISN Neo 5 ($289) - Looks very similar to the Fiio on the graph. Also has a similar driver setup (1 DD + 4 Knowles BA vs 1DD + 2 Knowles BA). I'm leaning towards these. Hoping they'd give a similar sound to the Fiios but just better/higher quality overall. Do they at least come with an equal amount of bass? It'd be nice if the bass is even better/deeper/more impactful than on the FH3s. 2. FatFreq x HBB Deuce ($249) - I don't know much about these except they have a lot of bass. 3. Ziigaat Arcadia ($199) - Apparently has good amount of bass. 4. Xenns Tea Pro ($359) - Heard they might lack some in the bass department though, but not sure. Any suggestions or experiences with these to share? Btw, I can't stand sibilance (can't use the Simgot EW300s due to this) and I love to clearly hear (male) vocals and instruments (another reason I dislike the EW300s but love the Fiios).
r/iems • Bassy IEM - What do I pick? ->As someone who also loves the Explorer, I suggest you try the Fiio FH3. It's also $99. It's very similar to the Explorer but it has better mid bass and slam (with slightly less sub bass). It's closer to the Explorer than the Defiant in the upper mids and treble. The Martilo has tons of sub-bass but is quite lean in the mid bass. Personally I much prefer mid bass to sub bass, at least in IEMs (it's hard to get both because the sound easily gets congested).
r/iems • Basshead IEMS ->Maybe you'd like the Fiio FH3. It has recessed upper mids like your graph. But it does have more bass. It's my favorite IEM. Very musical and engaging to listen to.
r/iems • Looking to upgrade from my Truthear x Crinacle zero:red ->Fiio FH3. Best IEMs ever made.
r/iems • Would a normal user like IEMs? ->The ones I’ve owned/own. 1. Grado SR80X. These are simply my favourite ones for music. They are just great for what I listen to. Contrary to popular opinion I really like the bass on them as the bass is very well textured though there is not a lot of it. Treble is obviously boosted but it isn’t bad or harsh at all. 2. HD600. These live at my PC for gaming and music. While they are technically better than the Grados for basically everything I can’t really use them around the house due to the power requirement and I also love the Grado sound. 3. DT770 Pro 250 ohm. These were better for gaming than the HD600s but not that much better. I found the imaging to be really good for FPS games but the treble could be piercing in certain situations especially in PUBG when breaking windows. Music was great on these and I’m looking to get some closed backs again as I’ve given these away to a friend 4. Fiio FH3. Great for commuting due to the isolation. Good soundstsge for IEMs but the bass can be overwhelming in certain songs but it makes them fun also as they never sound muddy. 5. AirPods Pro 1st gen. Just meh. Bass texture is not there but otherwise decent sound and great ANC. I use these for podcasts but can’t really listen to music on them anymore. 6. Gaming headphones wired/wireless. Every single one I’ve owned were just different flavors of shit. Nothing else to really say about these.
r/headphones • Rank your headphones (2025 edition) ->The FH5 went out of production end of 2021 iirc. I got a pair heavily discounted during christmas 2021 probably because of this. The FH5S was being introduced early in 2021 and replaced it. Albeit with a very different sound. As for the FH3 they sound similar in tuning to the FH5 (to my ears) and with current pricing they are a great buy in my opinion.
r/iems • Are FiiO fh3's still worth buying? ->This is old but the Fiio fh3 are still my on the go IEM's. I don't get why they are this good to this day with all the more expensive sets out there. I have to try the S12 pro based off this read. Seems to be a favorite.
r/iems • What's been your fav planar so far? ->FlipEars Aisha Electrii - Fun V-shape sound signature, MDR-7506 in an IEM but with tamed highs. Smooth highs, recessed vocals, but has that fun sub-bass to mid-bass performance. FlipEars Legion - Has a weird O-like timbre? But other than that, for a basshead set, the vocals are still full and clear. Lowkey nasal, but it’s not that obvious until someone points it out I guess. FlipEars Legion with Penon Liquier Black tips - vs the stock tips version, the midbass grit disappears in favor of emphasizing the sub-bass rumble and making the vocals full and pop out more. Everything becomes more balanced, yet still retains that “fun” the original tuning had. FIIO FH3 - Sub-bass heavy like the Kiwi Ears Cadenza, but has more mids. Scalability is great. Doesn’t have the peaks that the KE Cadenza has. Kiwi Ears Cadenza - Second cheapest option in the list. Great sub-bass rumble, clean (especially on the bass), and great midrange for vocals. A more complete and pleasing KZ EDC Pro. KZ EDC Pro - The cheapest option in the list. For the price it’s… fine. Got it for around $3.50. Non-offensive tuning. Sub-bass elevated and Mid-bass focused set in terms of bass, you can hear the bass guitar grit when doing slides. Vocals are slightly recessed. slightly aggresive U-shape.
r/iems • Best IEMs for heavy Sub bass without major sacrifices ->+1 my fav since couple years.
r/iems • What are the best Fiio IEMs you have tried? ->I'm just gonna say this Fiios are not what id consider safe tuning especially their vented iems those suckers are freakier than sundara closed. They're often either overly warm and treble laxe or cold and analytical I haven't experienced an in-between.
r/iems • Are FiiO fh3's still worth buying? ->Fiio is always going to be a hit or miss, most of the time being a miss, but I love the fd15, fh9 and my first set, the fh3.
r/iems • The BQEYZ Frost- Mid Bass in the Middle of Your Face (an unboxing and review) ->FH3 are a great buy at their current pricing. I'm still stuck on the FH5, myself.
r/iems • Are FiiO fh3's still worth buying? ->I have letshuoer s12 and if it is for competitive use and the treble damages your eardrum, I would not recommend it. However, you have the FiiO fh3 for around $90-$95 on aliepxress. They are IEMs whose normal price is $150. Its soundstage is a little above average. Treble well detailed and informative but not tiring or damaging. Bass present and full-bodied, sub bass accurate and the mids somewhat retracted. What I like about the FH3 is that they perform well in any video game just by changing the tips. However, for competitive purposes, the balanced ones work very well.
r/iems • Best IEM for gaming and music ? ->I’m not certain they’re the finest, but the Fiio FH3 delivers fantastic sub bass, so I purchased two of them!
r/inearfidelity • Best bass iems? ->FatFreq Grand Maestro. My first IEM was the Fiio FH3, and I knew I wanted more. I made the decision to jump straight to endgame and never regretted it. While I told myself no more, I picked up the FatFreq x HBB Deuce as my daily/travel IEM. No regrets with that either.
r/iems • What's an IEM related purchase you do not regret splurging for? ->FH3 was my first pair. I went to endgame immediately afterward, but I'd still be using them if I didn't upgrade. I love bass/V-shape, and the FH3 checked those boxes at a low price point. I did pair it with a Google DAC dongle, but it sounded better with the Qudelix 5K (before and after PEQ).
r/iems • Are FiiO fh3's still worth buying? ->He400i, bought it from TaoBao through Superbuy agency before Hifiman had an Aliexpress shop. The diaphragm got loose after 2 years of excessive bass boost. Then i got an ATH R70X, but the sound was not the same. Currently got the Sundara's (2020, no Stealth), and I'm planning to get a closed back this year. I also had the IEMs: Zero Audio Duoza (2xDD), FiiO FH3 (1DD, 2BA) and the Moondrop Dusk (2DD, 2BA, 2PA)
r/headphones • What headphones got you hooked? ->I had the exact same experience with the zero Red, I still hate It to this Day. It is seriously lacking in every aspect. Build is bad, horrible confort, shitty cable and Very underwhelming sound. I still cant figure out Why they are so well regarded. And I vonsider myself and audiophile, I have many dacs, amps and a While collection of iems ALL the way from $10 to $300 and the zero Red is one of the most disapointing iem I ever owned. The worst parte is that for some reason, people here Will try to Gaslight you into thinking you're the problem. They Said to me that I Was not used to proper "neutral" sound or that I Was not giving It the correct ammount of amplification, anything other than considering that the Red is not that good. I suggest you look into Kefine Klean, Letshuoer D13, Fiio FH3, Simgot EA500 or something else in that range. Im loving the FH3 and Klean. The Klean is everything I thought the Zero Red would be.
r/iems • Disappointed with the Truthear Zero Red IEMs ->* FH3: smooth treble, quite recessed mids and bass focused on sub-bass, somewhat narrow soundstage, excellent definition. * Mermaid II: bright treble but not fatiguing, slightly recessed mids, bass focused on sub-bass, wider soundstage due to the numerous air vents, good definition but slightly inferior to the FH3.
